I took this off the loom after finishing it this morning. I'm fairly satisfied because I've never woven before all on my own. I had access to a loom for a while but never did anything but warp it. Today I finished this, warped the loom for my other project and have woven the body of a BIG bag. I think next I'll make the 3D bag I have in mind. I just have to strip and sew up the scrap fabric I've sorted out with Ma.

Hi. I posted a hello just a little bit ago, but I included a link to my website. Sorry. I wasn't trying to generate sales or anything.

Anywho, my name's Marie and I'm new to craftgrrl and I make jewelry and accessories and all kinds of things. I also have a store of handmade accessories in Berkeley, CA.

So...hi!

I am making a cake for a present to my boyfriend for putting up with me for a year. I want to make a stencil for the top of the cake. I want to frost the cake, set my stencil on the cake, then sprinkle with different colored sugar crystals.
I've done this before and the stencil always gets stuck in the frosting because it's too sticky OR the frosting is to hard to accept the sugar. Make sense?
This time i want to make a flawless white cake with a 3 (or 2 if I can't find grey colored sugar) layered nintendo controller on it. Any suggestions to make the stencil come out better?

Ok, in the memories, there's an awesome post about how to make the army men bowl. Today is my brothers graduation party and being the procrastinater I am, I haven't made his present. I want to make the army men bowl but my mother is controlling the kitchen all day.

Does anyone know if I can use the microwave or a lighter to make it?

Thanks in advance.

lampwithshade

my completed eiffel tower lamp.
i took the fabric and attached it to the shade.
painted it blue, then went over it with some sparkly paint.
added the black trim on the top and the beaded trim on the bottom.
i am so in love with this lamp.
here is a close-up of the fabric: )

Are older sewing machines harder to operate than new sewing machines?

I will most likely be purchasing a sewing machine, and I haven't exactly decided if I'm going to get an older one or a new one...an important factor to me is ease of use, so I want to know if the older ones are more dificult to operate. Thank you so much! <3

hi. was at the ever popular wal-mart yesterday lurking around the craft section and picked up some plain brown boxes to have fun with.

this is what i have done so far today.

look at me!! )

at this point, im kinda out of ideas on what to add to it. i like things really clean and simple, but it still feels naked to me. i also haven't started the inside, which i am pretty sure i am going to polka dot (just cause they are so darn cute). anyway, any ideas are greatly appreciated. thanks!

hello, ladies! (and gents, i suppose)

i have a crafty question for you: how can i get a digital image printed onto a t-shirt? well, onto multiple t-shirts really. i would love to be able to do it myself, but i'd also be willing to have it done at some professional place as long as i could have the option of providing my own shirts. if you have any advice for me, i'd reeeeally appreciate it!

thank you <3

& more to add into my sushi bento box:

california roll
avocado only (though i might make one with crab, too)

& a tamago (egg) for lyamandmorri! )

size g & h crochet hooks. 100% acrylic yarn. the tamago & the ebi (posted earlier), i forgot to mention, are stuffed with polyester fiber-fil, and the california roll is, well, rolled. ^^

His suit is silk and felt. I wish I could have got the coloration for the jacket better and that it was less stiff. I am on a vampire kick..so stay tuned for more vampire dolls. I would love to make an Akasha doll..so I might try that next and I need to finish a fairy doll I am working on. When she is done I will post her.

I dunno if you all remember me..but I made a post awhile ago asking for a rounnd pattern to make a sun pillow out of.
I wanted to cheer up The Boy.
So I finally just made up one on my own, sorta. I combined a bunch of patterns and made something.
I took some scrap fabric and sewed together a very crappy pillow...lol..I didn't get pictures of that. Let us just say that I can crochet and not sew. The sewing machine hates me and so does hand-sewing.
Anyways, enough of that.
Here is pictures of what I made:
You Are My Sunshine )

I want to make one for myself and my best friend, but larger. Like normal pillow size. I think it would be so cute.

You all need Magic Sculpt.

I held off on buying some until recently, and I can't imagine how I ever managed to make anything without it.

I'll post what I made tomorrow, since the lighting's not good enough in here to get a decent photograph.

I'd like to decorate the inside of She-Ra, my lovely but dull Saturn sports car. The FAQ has some cool stuff about decorating the outside of your car, but little about the inside.

Has anyone tried decorating the inside of their vehicle? I'm just looking for ideas. Preferably stuff that's removable so I won't have any problems reselling her a few years down the line. :)

Last sushi update for the day. ^^*

I attempted to make Ikura and an Alaska Roll (as suggested/requested by [livejournal.com profile] whitestar_alpha & [livejournal.com profile] eos_girl). The Alaska Roll isn't done yet, since she said there are red eggs on it and I wasn't sure where to place them. Also the sliver of melon-orange on top is supposed to be salmon, but I didn't have any salmon yarn in my stash (I thought I did! ;_; Oh well.)

I've a question- I looked it up in the memories but I can't find it. FIRST POST! Woo. Just learned to crochet yesterday, from my cousin, which means all I know is how to do it while referring to my handwritten instructions in my journal. I have no idea what anything is, and that crazy code you all are talking about is making me feel...strained. Anyway- to the dumbest question ever- once I make the chain (that's what it's called, correct?) how to I go on to start into the real crocheting? Do I just hook the yarn and put it through the first hole in the chain? I know what to do after that, I'm just stumped on the actual starting it part. My cousin said the corners are the hardest, and I have no idea how to do them.
Sorry for blathering, I will, uh, just go now...
