Hey all!!

The other day when I was walking my dog, I found this awesome stand Badly Drawn Paint Program Attempt ) just hanging out by the dumpster.
It was so calling my name.
Sorry for the paint program picture, but my crapass camera would not take a good picture indoors.
Anyways, it is not a nice quality one, but it is sturdy. I want to repaint it...so I was thinking of painting the shelves like...black and the top and the 3 pieces of wood red or white.
I don't know though.
Like...what colors do you think would make it look best?

The heart is cut out of the wood, so it is like a heart-shaped hole.
I just seem to be in this mood lately to paint everything red and black or red and white.

Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, and I slapped some polish on it and cleaned it all up and it doesn't have a shine to it, so painting over it isn't going to ruin anything. It looks like something someone whipped together...as it is nailed together, but it is still nice, nonetheless...and will be a nice FREE addition to my room. Nothing in my room matches. Everything I have is this insane bright color....lol...

hi, feel free to delete me if this is too off-topic--

I'm thinking of "publishing" (i.e. making available w/o having to xerox and bind every one myself) a 100-page book I wrote-- text with lots of images that are color but can be black and white if it saves significant $$. This is not for commercial purposes, I don't care about making money or distribution except covering costs and making it easy for people who want a copy to get it. I expect about 100 copies will be the final outcome. Does anyone have experience with Cafe Press? (cafepress.com) It seems good and cheap but any anecdotal experience would be helpful.. or other similar services. Trying to keep the cost LOW is the priority here.

thanks!

also-- if you've got a better community to post this in, let me know!

new.

Hi. Alrite, I have this small piece of circuitry, I think I might be an old computer modem or something. I wanted to make it into a necklace, now theres a few places I could just sring it on a necklace but its soo big, I wanted to maybe cut it down smaller but I dont want it to look horrible, does anyone have any advice or tips for making jewelry out of recycled computer parts? If you havent already seen Bonnie Meltzer's work, here is the link:
http://www.bonniemeltzer.com/necklaces.html
She makes gorgeous pieces out of old computer parts, shes my inspiration. I will eventually buy one from her, they are expensive though and I cant afford to right now, So thats why I need to make my own.

I know I can't possibly be the only plus sized girl with fashion sense that likes to sew my own clothes. I wear about a 16 or 18 in mall clothes and I think a 20 or 22 in patterns, and I can only ever find patterns for really boring skirts and button up shirts and lots of things with elastic waists and stuff. Where are the cute capri pants and sexy shirts? Where are the fun and stylish clothes? Am I looking in the wrong place for patterns? Does anyone else have any suggestions?

i made this a while ago, but i totally love it. it was my girlfriend's idea (Mahawara) but i came up with the embellishment. all it is is a piece of black felt (purchased by the yard at my local friendly craft store) and some rainbow ribbon (purchased by the spool at aforementioned buisiness). I had sewed it, as you can see in the close up, and i'm using a safety pin for the closure. one of these days i really will finish it like i intended originally with one or two snaps.
enjoy! )

I got bored last night and couldn't sew anything so I found some old material, ribbon and fabric glue and covered my paper journal. It used to be a slate grey and boooring, and now its PINK! I just glued the material and ribbon down with fabric glue. I even got the edge near the binding covered nicely. It only took a few minutes and its nothing too complicated, but I was bored and it cured my boredom :)

I do have a question. I really love felt flowers, but I have no idea where to start with making them. Does anyone know where I can get instructions or templates to use for petals, or how I should stitch them or just use fabric adhesive? I checked the memories but I didn't really find an answer.

Hi everyone. I have a question and I hope someone has an idea:
I want to make a box out of AOL CDS (or a chandalier) but I don't know how to make the small holes in the cds without cracking them. I plan to make them toward the edge of the disc then tie them with craftwire I got from Michaels.

Any thoughts?

My mom ordered these knifty knitter knitting looms for me the other day. I don't have the slightest idea how to knit, but I gave it a try this morning and finished a Christmas Stocking!

...finished product... )

She also ordered the scarf loom, which I am excited about.

New Scarf!

New scarf made with [livejournal.com profile] unluckymonkey yarn!  I think I need to add another half or whole skein of the same yarn, but this is what I have so far and I love it!

I hate text only posts, but sadly I have no pictures to post...yet! I looked on the net, and in the Memory section and couldn't find an good instructions on how to make felt flowers. I have some left over felt from a project I did for school and don't want to jsut toss it. It's not the sticky back kind, so I'd have to had sew them together (I don't know any type of stiches!). If anyone could take the time to find me a tutorial I'd be very happy! :)
