Can someone please remind me how to make rounded corners on fabric? I remember someone telling me that there's an easier way to do it than just cutting round corners on the fabric i'm going to sew. I'm clueless!

first felting project )

before felting i had a shakespeare book inside the bag to help it stand up. so after the first felting i again placed the book inside (it still needed a little help standing up and to get a size reference)... after the second wash i again placed the book inside (but this time for size reference only because it stands on its own). for anyone who doesn't have the william shakespeare the complete works the bag started out at about 12 ½ inches high, and about 26 inches around. and is now about 8 high and 20 around. i decided that it could probably stand to be felted again... but i like the size of the bag now and dont really wanna risk it getting to small for my comfort level in carrying the bag.

*i used patons classic wool merino in dusky blue and blueberry held together

Okay, so I got a bunch of new stickers, so I got a big old roll of magnetic sheet (ing? sheets?) to put them on so that I can decorate my fridge and car at my every whim. It's a pretty big roll, so I decided that I'm going to make some picture magnets too, out of some stuff I cut out of magazines.

My only issue is this: How do I make it shiny on the front? I've got laminating stuff, which I guess would be okay, but I kinda want shinier. :) I've got Gloss Mod-Podge, but I always have problems with brush marks when I put it on.

What else can I use to make my magnets shiny and semi-durable, or alternately, how can I not get brush marks if I ModPodge them?

I was making a stencil, and in the process of cutting it out, I realized the left-over plastic made a really cool reverse(?) stencil. So I stuck it to my door and spray painted around it.

See:

Now I want to do the same thing on a shirt.
Is there a spray version of fabric paint?
I don't want to just paint around the edges. I want it to have the same look as the one on my door.
I considered just spattering paint around it, but I really want a very fine spray, not big globs of paint.
I realize that the obvious answer is just to spray paint on a shirt, but I'm really looking for an alternative to that method.

Help the fishy!

So, hi, I'm new. That does not matter really, though, because I have a situation. I'm not very crafty, but for some reason, I thought I would mess around with my bridesmaid shoes. I sort of went crazy and I need help making them wearable.

Purple shoes, my friends. )

This is my first post here, I hope I don't break any rules. I made something out of an old stencil.

Hi there! I decided to create a new lj just to post my crafts in - so, rather than posting as alustrial/ImmortalGeisha - it will be alustrialcrafts now :]

Annyhow...I finally finished the hairpins that I had made for my little niece. I had made the flowers quite some time ago, I just never had a chance to attach the clips, until today. I'm a little concerned that the Kiku might be a bit to big for her...but I'm sure she will grow into it :]

Cute Ume (plum blossoms)!

Please pardon the fact that I look like death in the photos :] Late night last night and tooth hurty!

Thank you for looking!

Sorry for two posts, one after the other - they kinda don't go well together... :[

Whilst I'm not particularly fond of dark navy or indigo blues, I WOULD find myself wearing a gorgeous, simple, indigo blue kimono with subtle pinstripes...with a slight hint at the sleeve openings of a magnificent, vibrant crimson and white shibori juban...along with a lushly woven obi. To me...the essence of iki.

So, with my longing in mind - I decided to make a four pouches, using some of the nice indigo died or stenciled navy blue vintage silk I had...giving them intense vintage silk vibrant linings, depending on how busy the outer pattern was. I was quite happy with how they came out!

Top pouch: Stenciled navy/blue design on black
Second Pouch: Indigo with faint white pinstripes
Third pouch: Woven navy with white and red dots
Fourth pouch: Indigo shibori

Thank-you for looking, yet again ;]

Her tail was challenging and I used a pattern I bought online for this doll. I had never seen a red mermaid and always though it would be pretty...she is almost dragon-like cause of her color. She is a gift for my sister and I hope she likes it.

thanks for looking.

i bought Gallery Glass (as seen here: http://www.plaidonline.com/apGG.asp) and the bottle do NOT come with any directions.
i tried to apply it, and it is a FAR cry from this "easy to do" thing.
it looks horrible and i have no clue what to do to make it look good.

anybody have any suggestions or have worked with this before? i'm really frustrated and feeling very let down.

Alright...I just made some soaps but the only problem I'm haivng now is...they won't come out of the molds. They are practically stuck in there. I followed all the instructions for making the soaps correctly...so I know its not that. Can anyone offer any tips on how to get my soaps out of the molds?

Thanks for everyone's input on spray fabric paint. I ran over to Micheal's and found some (on sale no less!). The results were exactly what I was looking for.

So. I went to the "Intergalactic Bead Show" on Saturday. I didn't enjoy myself and hardly thought it was worth the cost of admission. The vendors were all completely clueless about what they were selling and the customers were really rude. Rude as in pushing and ripping strands of beads out of my hand. (beads I wasn't even interested in buying)

Most of the vendors had things horribly overpriced. I found one vendor who actually knew what she was doing and was really nice. She had great prices so she got all my business. I'll forgive her of her ridiculous business name (www.beadivine.com)

There wasn't much there that I wanted that I couldn't get at FireMountaingems.com for up to 75% less in some cases. In conclusion, save your money, because this show just isn't worth it. If you're a glutton for punishment you can see the schedule of the show at www.beadshows.com.

I did buy a strand of freshwater pearls from beadivine

Hello again! I have no new completed projects, but just two main questions on two projects!

Uno. I want to make a hand bag for a friend, out of a shirt that I gave her for her birthday but it's too small for her (there are no larger sizes and she loves the band that's on the shirt...). I was going to use bamboo handles, but then I realized that it would be really rad to use plastic discs instead. Where might I find something like that? You've probably seen those bags with the bamboo handles, and so I'm asking also for patterns or places where I could buy one cheap to use as a pattern. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Dos. I have this awesome shirt that I've had since the eighties (umm, okay, so I was born in the eighties, but my parents had it from the eighties and gave it to me) and it has sticker residue on it from a sticker I had on it and accidentally put it through the wash with the sticker on it! It looks hopeless, like the sticker has been baked into the shirt, but I was curious if there might be any way to remove the sticker stuff. I think the shirt is cotton, if it helps at all. =)

Thank you all so much! <3

bernat frenzy in panic pink with lionbrand fun fur in rainbow as the edging.
all half double crochets with the fun fur single crocheted around the edge.

its so uber super super soft (oh how i love this frenzy yarn!) slightly reminiscent of a skinned muppet but soft and fuzzy enough to make up for it. i would not skin a muppet for fashion but i have no shame in crocheting up a faux one.

not so great picture of the scarf being worn )
