I checked the memories and couldn't find anything, if I missed something, sorry.. Also, if there's a good beading community any of you know of, please send me there!

I'm trying to make some beaded earrings & things that I might be able to sell, so I want to work out how to do a really good job. There's a few problems I keep running into, though.

The fishing line I'm using comes wound into a circle, so any length I cut has this pesky curl to it. How the hell do I get the stuff to be dead straight?

Secondly, the only way I really know of securing ends right now is with those metal crimps, but for some of the things I have in mind they'll stand out too much.. I've seen beaded necklaces and the like in shops, where the beads don't move along the wire, they stay put.. But I can't see how they've done it. So I guess my question is, what's a way of securing the ends of earrings and holding beads in place and so on, without having a big ugly crimp showing?

Sorry if none of this makes sense, it's late >.< Thanks!

hey ladies, I need some help. I'm the publicity chair for the Fashion design society here at Ball State U. One of my jobs is to keep the bulliten board updated. this is fine, but I want it to stand out from the rest of the boards- literally. i want to construct a 3D version of a dress form torso. It would be as if I took a dress form, cut off the bottom and the back and just tacked the front on the board. The challenge is having a dress form that is light weight, yet allows me to put pins, thumbtacks, and staples to hang paper. I was thinking about styrofoam (like the balls) but wasn't totally sure. Anyone got an idea for contruction and materials? I am open to all suggestions.

Thanks ladies,

~Rhiannon

Never posted here...so here's what I make!
Burning Heart Shoes

These were the second try. The first ones i made were gold hearts with red that was dripping, not flaming. I reversed it because I decided gold hearts look corny, and flames are cool. I like the heart "foot pads" on the botton as well. That was one of those mid-night spasmatic bursts of creativity. I guess hearts aren't exactly that creative, but I've been going nuts with sewing flames lately.

I just bought a good amount of christmas-y fabric from the thrift store today.

I'm thinking early craft ideas to make Christmas gifts for my friends. I don't have TOO much fabric, so it would have to be something somewhat small. o_o; help?

Thanks in advance :3

Idea for a little gift.
You can froo froo it up and make it totally unique by sewing or crocheting on beads or sequins or tying on long ribbons...

how do you girls handle rejection? especially in terms of when you make stuff for class projects, and the teacher hates it?

Here's another schmaltzy post....probably the last one for a while, in case you're sick of romantic stuff. :)

I made my girlfriend a sort of mini remember-the-last-year? scrapbook called a squashbook.

so i usually fool with duct tape, but i got bored with that. so i moved on to packing tape and hand stitched beading.

the result )

the beading took forever and a day, but i think it was worthwhile.

Hello Crafters
My brother is hoping you can help him. For his History class they have to make something that a caveman would have used. The catch is that you can use anything modern. It can be tools anything you can think up. So does anyone have any Ideas ?? He would be very thankful

Two wallets. The first one I made today for my friend Cailin, the second about a week ago. Both were made strictly out of packaging tape, newspaper, and a pair of scissors.

One purse, made over the weekend. Used from scraps bought from Joanne's Fabric's. This purse shouldn't have cost me more than $1.50. Hurrah. I'll probably add some type of toggle to use to keep it closed. Only problem is that the toggle would keep it from being REVERSIBLE which is part of the coolness. Ideas?

here's a couple of things i've made in the past couple of days. they're all sewn by hand (including all the beads!) because i don't have access to a sewing machine at school.
two cuffs, a wallet, and a pizza place )

hey ladies...
i made a duct tape wallet last night.
and then i ended up covering most of it in packing tape.
very smart idea! not really. it's rather thick... but still really neat looking. and feeling.

I'm hoping to repaint my ceiling fan--the motor area and all of the other ugly chrome things, not the fan blades. Have any of you ever done this? Any tips?

Hi,
this is a bit cross posted, but i was wondering if any of you (that live in London) would like to help me out for a few days?
It's unpaid work, but i can pay for your travel, buy you lunch, and give you a reference, as well as you being able to take photos of what you do to add to your portfolios.
I'm doing some work on a new club night at ULU (University of London Union) I've been given the job of interior designer, and I'll need some crafty boi's/gurl's to help me do a few bits and bobs.
I'll need someone who can sew (hand and sewing machine) and anyone alse who's just eager to do some stuff.
Job's will include: Spray stencilling some huge window drops, sewing cushions/tablecloths, painting stuff and other bits and bobs....i'll let you know more details if your interested.
I'm planning on finding a stereo, playing lots of tunes, and just getting on with doing the things that need doing, then possibly having a few drinks :o)
so if u think you like the sound of it, I'll need people to help me on these dates:

Wednesday 22nd of this month

27th, 28th, 29th, 30th of this month.

Just lemme know, and i'll be ETERNALLY grateful!

I am going to be starting my own little crafty business soon selling knit scarves and modified, screenprinted t-shirts. I want to have personal little tags made (the kind to sew into the scarves/shirts) and was wondering if there were any companies that some of you may have used or have heard good things about? If this has been posted before and I missed it, I apologize. I appreciate any help that can be offered!

"just so this isn't text only" blah blah

i finally figured out a good boy-craft (at least for my boy). i "design" 'em, and he puts 'em together.

Does anybody have any experience using any of the "crackle paints" to make things look antique made by Delta or Plaid that places like Michael's carries?

I found this kit at Michaels.com

I just want to do something small, like a jewelery box. Does anybody have any pointers? Thanks!

i searched memories and found nothing, which surprised me. surely these are easy to make. and it would be nice to save some money on the never-ending series of baby showers i attend by making my own gifts.

anyone ever make these? tutorial?
