oookay,
i have a question:

can any of you recommend good dress patterns? i have a sewing class and we have to use patterns and our next project is a dress. i wanted something moreso cute and girly...(egl-ish, doll-ish, maybe?)
hmmm.

thanks.

she saw me knitting one day and said "will you make me a pink scarf?"
i figured she, being 12, would like a more "grown up" pink and picked up this raspberry colored homespun and went to work.

Hey girls. I'm in need of a picture of wings. Drawing or otherwise. If anyone could help me out, that would be great. It's for a t-shirt project, and when I'm done trust me, I'll be showing it off in here!
THe wings would have to be more pointed down, not spread out..

If this post is against the rules/guidelins for the community, feel free to delete it, Mods.
Thanks!

Hey lover-ly craftanistas,

I checked out the FAQ, and crafty_gifts has been pretty slow as of late, so I thought maybe you all could help. My boyfriend of 5 yrs (as of this monday!) and he is going abroad next semester to Australia for 5 months, and I want his gifts from Christmas to be for his trip (im not giving him money!) What could I get him that is typical for living in a country, besides luggage? Thanks a lot!

I recently lost all of my favorite websites, and ive been searching high and low for one inparticular. It has incredible silver jewelry, clothing, bags...etc. The specific ring im looking for is sterling silver with "queen" on it. if anyone has a link to the site, i would love you forever!

Does anyone know if there are any free lingerie type patterns on the internet? I'm mainly looking for dressing gown/robe type things that I could make in nice silky materials. And perhaps slip type things to sleep in. I really hate paying so much for things in the store that just don't fit me right. I want to make things, but when i've tried to look at pattern books in fabric stores, they don't seem to have this type of thing, unless I want to make it in fleece or something awful like that. I've heard I need to find more vintage patterns because many people used to make their own clothes of this type. But I thought someone here might have a good place to look. Thanks.

I'm looking for a djembe cover (somewhat like this, but not so ugly). Preferably the pattern will be resizeable as I have a few different drums, and preferably it will be easy, as I am a novice sewer.

Thanks!

Where do you guys thrift? I'm on Long Island, and I go to local thrift stores that are run by churches and everything is so frumpy and they don't even have any good tees. Are there better/different kinds to go to?

If you live on Long Island and know some good ones, I would be eternally grateful, but any advice would be great.

Thanks!

This is a rather bizzare enquiry, but I'm sure I've seen this mentioned somewhere before, and want to know if it's worth a try.

Does anyone know anything about painting welligton boots? I dimly recall reading somewhere that acrylic paint would work really well, but I'm not sure...

ACK I have a very oddly-shaped body, so it's hard to buy jeans that fit nicely all around. If they fit my huge hips, they are often too big at the thighs and down the legs. I want to tighten my pants, but all I know is that I have to turn them inside-out and re-sew them... but the stuff that's already sewn becomes a problem. Can someone please guide me through the process of alterting the sides of my jeans? Thanks!

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make a carrying case/organizer for an X-Box? I need to make one for my boyfriend and one for my friend.
I'm not sure what kind of material I should use or how much of it.
I want something like this:

...Ideas? Thanks <3
