I have to do an ethnography on a certain type of group and Ichose to make you guys the center point. I have a great interest in crafting and all that and I love seeing everyone's work. It's so neat!. I was just wondering if over the next few weeks, I could ask questions and have people respond so that I could finish my project. Please say yes. And I have this killer bag to show off once i load up the pictures.

ok, I have just been reminded of something me and my boyfriend used to be into. I remember he really wanted a "devil Doll" plushie (see here http://joesparks.shockwave.com/kickitback/dolls/index.htm ) they don't make the oficial plushie anymore so I thought I could make my own for a gift for my bf as many other people have done. I see alot of people have done them using felt...but to me it looks kinda cheap with the felt... SO I was thinking...maybe I could crochet it or something...but I have no clue how to come up with a pattern for it...can anyone help me or point me to a pattern for a crocheted doll that may be similar that i can just adapt from?

I have just taken up spinning and this was my very first attempt at spinning yarn with my new drop spindle. Just thought I'd share. I really hope to get better at this so I can start washing, carding and dyeing my own fiber and adding all the fancy shmancy glitz to my yarns :o) but for now...I guess I should stick to solids.

god ...I SOOOO want my own flock of sheep and angora rabbits

my first attempt )

i made this a few weeks ago for a family friend...i made one for myself after visiting england halfway through last year using red and black beads. i saw something like it in a catalogue that came in the uk version of kerrang! magazine...i vaguely recall it saying that it was a south african idea *shrug* but i haven't found it again since. i think the store was joe brown? or something. anyway. on with the picture...

fiddly business )

Hiya!!

Im looking for a website that has good examples and pictures of fashion from each decade of the 20th century. (for example, the 20s would have pictures of a flapper, the 50s would have women in big poofy house dresses) can anyone direct me to a website like this? Thanks!

...made it out of felt, with lace and ribbons and some cotton ribbon yarn for the decorative stitching!

I'm in search for Belting/Webbing. I've looked in Hancock Fabrics and they only have a small selection & not the color I need, I've also searched Michaels, AC Moore and Jo-Ann Online. Does anyone know of any good sites that sell belting/webbing? I want to use it for purse straps! Thanks :)

Does anyone know where to get ahold of a copy of the book "Mame Wanko"? It's a Japanese craft book with instructions for making tiny dogs.

Alternately, if anyone has it/knows of a library that has it, I'd be happy to pay for postage for a few copied pages.

I tried amazon.co.jp, but they won't ship to me. Alas.

Any ideas? Thanks a ton. And mods, if this is not acceptable, let me know.

When I was a kid i had this dress that had little plastic apple buttons. So so cute. Now I'm looking for something similar for a project i'm working on. I'm looking for cupcake buttons. I've been searching online all day (i'm supposed to be working, but cubicles are boring places). Can someone help? Has anyone seen anything similar anywhere?

If not, could someone give me suggestions on how i could make my own (with what materials? Sculpey?)

THANK YOU!!!!

I have a super-cute pair of earrings... but on one of them the stick-part snapped off the back! How can I fix this by tomorrow? It's a smallish red stone set in pewter. I suppose I could hot-glue it over another (smaller, flat) earring... would that work? Should I buy superglue and...??? Eeep! I need to wear these tomorrow morning!

Dear Craftgrrls:

I need some ideas! I've recently acquired a box of about 50 rolls of old cash register tape. It's like newsprint paper, about three inches wide, on a roll, each with a kajillion feet of paper on it. I found it in the hallway at work (I work in a mall)... someone was throwing it in the garbage! I thought surely I could find a better use for it besides the trash. Any ideas as to what I could use it for or who I could give it to, besides using it for scrap paper besides the phone?
