hi all - wasn't there a discussion not too long ago about craft shows? i seem to remember some posts that had good advice about how to plan, where to buy bags/boxes, advice about pricing and decorating your booth, etc. i couldn't find it... i'm planning on being in a show next year and i remember there was a lot of good advice being shared so i'd love to review it again. thanks in advance!

My older sister and her roommate have four cats and a dog, so for Christmas I made 2 batches of dog cookies and 2 batches of cat treats, and I'm going to get them tags for their kitties. And I was wondering if anyone had any cute ideas for how I could wrap these things? Er...not necessarily wrap, I suppose, but any way to give them and make them look like a present and not just baggies full of animal food. Thanks!

hey lovelies. haven't posted in a long time. actually... maybe ever? but i'm home sick and bored so here i am.

this is a bracelet i made for my mom for christmas:

(that's the best picture i could get of it. :/ sorry.)
i'm thinking of getting some more colorful beads and making some for my friends and other relatives, too.

other stuff )

a few questions:
- does anyone know where i can buy head pins and eye pins in bulk?
- any ideas on something i can make for my boyfriend's mom? she's not very girly so i can't really do jewelry or a scarf or anything like that.
- any ideas on something i can make for my boyfriend that would be kind of like a scrapbook, but a little more... manly? heh... that sounds weird but i just feel like boys aren't really into the whole scrapbook thing. my idea is... i have a bunch of things from the first day we met, even pictures and stuff, and then i want to kind of... track our relationship, i guess? just not in scrapbook form. maybe on a box, or something? i don't know. can you think of anything?

ok. that's all, folks.

Hiya. This being my first official post, I must say I really dig this community. It's true. I frequent it... thumbs up to everyone.

Here is what I've made my friends for the holidays. Just Past Twig is a comic character I've coined, and my friends seem to love each one. Hence, I'm happy.

Photos are fun )

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Hey again! Happy Holidays :) I looked through the memories and couldn't really find answers to my questions, so I thought I'd ask you girls.
I am going to decorate a little wooden box for my boyfriend for Christmas, and since he is into rock climbing I plan on painting the outside grey like a rock wall and then adhering little climbing holds that I make out of Sculpey all over it so it looks like an indoor rock wall. Would it be better to a) bake the holds then glue them on with super glue (the box isn't really curved it's relatively square) or b) make them and somehow bake them onto the box in the oven?
Also, I want to add little pictures to the inside and I was wondering what I could paint over a magazine cut-out or photo to make it glossy and resistant to damage- would clear nail polish work?
I was also thinking of making photo magnets by taking a picture and glueing it to a big magnet from, say, a pizza place or something, and then cutting it out, but I was wondering what glue to use and, again, what to put over the picture to make it glossy. Would contact paper work? I have never used that, and my local Michael's doesn't have clear contact paper.
Sorry, I love being crafty, but I don't know a whole lot about the supplies out there. Thanks for any help you can think of :)

I'm pretty sure I've seen this question before, but I cant find it in the memories. Does anyone know how you would go about dyeing a white pair of chucks without getting any color on the white rubber bits? If anyone could find the answer somewhere else here I'll delete this entry.
Thanks in advance

anyone have a knitting pattern for a hat with lots of umm...holes/yarnovers/whatever? like not lots i just dont want a solid hat
[identity profile] -di.livejournal.com
Hi grrls. I tried looking through the memories, but it seems we don't have anything saved about creative gift-wrapping. I'm giving scarves and jewelry as gifts, but they look kind of weird just tossed in tissue paper cinched with a ribbon. How would you package these items creatively? I have paper and tissue paper, and I guess I could go buy boxes if I really can't come up with anything else.

today i made my first comic wallet... it looks really cut because the comic has princesses and frogs =p

anyway-
i dont really sew that much so i was wondering if it would be possible to make a comic CHANGE purse by sewing a zipper to the taped comic sheet.. would that sew or would it rip the whole thing?

What glue other than E6000 could I used to make marble magnets. I have neurological conditions and also do not like the warnings on the back of E6000 that mentions it causing cancer. I was wondering if there was anything non-toxic I could use?

I am painting a frame for my boyfriend and decorating it with fortunes from fortune cookies that I've collected while we've been together. Yeah, we're nerdy. :) The frame is a little wooden Ikea frame.

Question #1: what would be the best way to glue on fortunes and seal the frame without messing up the paper? I have Mod Podge and was planning to just use that.

Question #2: I've been googling my heart out for a site that I can get kanji from. I'm looking for specific words that I want to put on the frame. Any suggestions? Good sites you recommend? All I get are tattoo sites and nothing that lets me search for specific words/phrases.

Thanks for the help! I will post pictures if I finish it before Christmas. Heh...*sweats nervously*

I am creating a found objects art creation *specatcular* sculpture made out of ribbons, broken glass and love letters.

The only problem is that I am in need of love letters.

If any of you have any to donate, it would be much appreciated!!!!

Good way to let go of the past and let it be made into something beautiful!

My close friend is a professional dancer, concentrating in both asian/oriental/middle eastern dance and burlesque/fusion type dance. I wanted to make her a kanzashi for Christmas...but was kind of stuck on what type to make. I then remembered that she is incorporating an ostrich feather fan dance in her burlesque acts. My brain got ticking over and I decided to make a feather based kanzashi for her that has a very vintage, burlesque feel to it that she can wear as a part of the costume.

I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I used two different cream/ivory toned vintage kimono silk lining fabric for the flower. You will have to pardon my bad photographs - I have barely any light here at night time.

And how it looks like in the hair: my friend normally either wears a black bob wig, or, will pull her naturally black, curly hair up until she has mega froof hair. My absolute and utter look of death in this photo and lack of froof hair doesn't do the style of the piece any justice. Sowwy =[

Hair Picture

Thank you for looking! I sincerely hope my friend likes this gift :]

I made some magnets and want to attach them to some cardstock. I was thinking about hole punching the cardstock and taping the magnet from the back. I'm just afraid that the tape would screw it up. Do any of you have ideas on what I should do?
