Hey crafty chicas!

Im making a tile mosaic tray and I used a different grout than what Im used to. I hate it! It came out all uneven and shitty looking, so Im wondering if I can get the stuff I like and grout over it?

thanks!

The pictures aren't the best, and are a little crooked, but I'm the crafty gal, not the photographer. :)

ok crafty ladies, i have a question for you.
im decopauging/decorating a toilet seat cover for our family gift exchange. my question is, what can i use to seal it? i asked a man at lowes and he told me that mod podge would work, but i have my doubts. i want something that someone can easily clean with soap and water and not have to worry about it falling apart (the prettiness of it anyway). i know that some of you girls have done this sort of project before - what did you use to seal it?

I've been making some fun crafts to give to my cousins for Christmas.

This is a clutch!

So this afternoon I went to the thrift store and picked up this huge, hardcased, suitcase because I'm going to New Orleans next week for band (we're going to play at the Sugar Bowl). Thing is, it's this dirty, off-white color. What type of paint would I use to paint it? I'm not thinking about taking on the progject of painting the whole thing, just some designs (hopefully if I get enough of the dirt off). Would fabric paint work? My intuition tells me that ceramic paint would scratch off too easily.

more...... )

Comments are appreciated. This necklace is really simple, but I love it. I tried it on after I made it & wanted to keep it! Maybe I'll make another one for myself.

I had the day off from school today, thanks to the snow storm last night. So I decided to make my puppy a little fleece jacket, since it's been so cold out and she's so tiny, she needs it.

Joann's had fleece for 50% off, so I got this really bright, tacky print, and I love it!

This years christmas theme was to try to "make" everyone's gifts. Craftgrrl helped me with all the ideas. I made hot cocoa mix, chocolate spoons, and ice cube soap (well, water soap cubes and a lil duckie for a pond =P).

Anyways, just thankful for this site for its ideas and had a great time learning something new (I never made chocolate spoons or soap before).

*edit*...not make soap..."craft" soap

This may seem obvious to some, but I however am at a loss. I want to make a dream pillow and I want to fill it with lavender. I do not grow my own herbs (they always die) so I am wondering where I can get dried lavender from or any other dried herbs really. I was thinking a whole foods market but outside of that I am not sure. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Thanks, and maybe I will try to grow my own herbs again. :)

ok so I now feel like an idiot. I haven't used a sewing pattern since...for like four years now. I starting designing my own patterns and whatnot. But anyway, my burning question is,
which side is the right side and the wrong side?
is the right side the side with the pattern/color or is it the other way around?
And also, which side do I pin the pattern pieces to. The right side or the wrong side? aaaah. I feel like a beginner again!

I never really understood the whole right side wrong side thing anyway. Just say pretty side and blank side right? haha.

Howdy,
I was cleaning my room recently and I found a bunch of old broken plastic hangers, and being the pack rack person that I am and so forth I feel bad throwing them away until I know there is nothing I can do with them.
So that's where all ya'll come into play, I was wondering if anybody could think of any ideas of what to do with them

Thanks muches,
Autumn

I don't know if any of you can help me, but a few days ago, I saw this site that was selling holiday cards, and I can't find it anymore.

One set of cards said something like:

Have a happy:
Christmas
Chanukah
Kwanza
Nothing because you're an atheist

Or something like that. I don't remember exactly. But I thought they would be a great idea because all my friends are different religions and such dorks, that they would be great.

So yeah, if you could give me the link to the site, or if you know the saying or whatever.

Yeah. Thanks!

question for all you soap crafters out there!

i did the melt and pour variety of soap casting, with glycerin soap. i left them for about 3 days (busy gal i am), and i just had the chance to take them out of the molds tonite. One problem: they are pretty moist, and almost seem pliable. what's wrong with them?? :*(

Any help would be much appreciated, especially since i planned on giving them as gifts!

TIA!

xo

ps. i wanted to add baking soda to soap. has anyone ever done this? what is it like? thnx

Hey everyone, sorry for the text-only!! my cam went crazy on me :)

I just started making candles, all wen't well, however I used food dye, and all that happened was that the dye formed small color bubbles and sank to the bottom of the candles...

Do I have to buy the candle dye, or is there something else I can do!!!

Thanks a bunch!!

My landlord just bitched me out because I was spraypainting a (very small and contained) project in the hall. Apparently they just had the floors put in. Of course I put stuff down, and was *very* careful when spraying... but just in case I pull up my plastic to find a nasty surprise... what takes off spraypaint? I have orange glow... that takes out a lot of things, will it work here? I know that my landlord will be inspecting it to the tee as soon as the plastics come up. He's just that kind of guy. :p

here is an update on my post (click here to see my last post)

these are the slippers I made for my aunt.

the inside is lined with purple silk, and Im planning on putting some non skid stuff on the bottoms. they are made out of felted wool. I took an old sweater and dyed it with koolaid, rinsed with vinegar and then water until it ran clear and then dried it and cut it all out. they arent perfect, but my next pair will be! I really like them, and they are comfortable.
I am going to try some out of polar fleece as well when I get back home from xmas.
