Hi! I'm a new poster here, but I've been watching the community for a while. I have a question that I didn't see an answer to in the memories, so I'm going to dare to ask it. I'm going to be a freshman in college next year, and I was thinking about how to decorate my dorm. I collect quotes, so I thought it would be really fun to display some of my quotes on the wall as decorations, but I don't know of any good ways to display them, especially since I have zero art skills. Any ideas/suggestions would be incredibly helpful. Thanks!

hi all. wow, flashbacks. don't know if any of you remember me but i was the moderator of this community many moons ago. anyways, it's good to be back!

and on to my dilemma!

i stenciled this shirt last night:

but what else can i do to snazz it up? i think any more stencilling and it'll be overkill. i was thinking a thick black ribbon around the bottom but i dunno. any suggestions would be wonderful, thanks!

I really need some help with a Valentine's Day project I'm making for my boyfriend. Any comments/criticism are appriciated! :)

I was going to make a collage by getting a posterboard, putting a few pics of him and I on it, decorate with magazine pictures, words, etc. and frame it.

But before I frame it, should I laminate it so over time it won't discolor or is there a better solution?

Also, does anyone have any ideas of anything else I could put on the collage???

(Excuse my brain-farts; I usually am creative) ;)

My birthday is coming up and I want to get a sewing table. I looked online but I haven't found any good ones, i hardly found any at all! Does anyone know a good place to purchase one from? It would be great if I could get it online, so any websites with them are good, but I would appreciate every suggestion! Thanks!

I recently fixed up our nasty kitchen chairs. ) Reupholstering them was really easy, cheap (2 dollar a yard fabric from the clearance bin) and only took about an hour and a half to do all four chairs. I may attempt our couch next.

Also...Does anyone know of a free pattern for those fleece kitty hats? I really need a quick, cute project.

I have this pair of boots (ugg knock offs from Old Navy) that I was thinking of dyeing. They are turquoise now and I think dark brown would be... well... better than that. I have dyed leather in the past, but never suede with a faux shearling interior. My concern is that the dye will bleed through and get all over my legs, socks etc. Has anyone successfully dyed anything like this? Any recs or tips would be really, really appreciated. I know Uggs/Fakeys are so 5 minutes ago, but damn! It's cold and they keep my feet soooo warm.

Thanks craftgrrls (and boys :))

hey... my birthday is coming soon, and im asking for a new sewing machine.  The one i have is old (it was my mom's), and it doesnt work very well. and i have no experience in buying a sewing machine.

It doesnt have to have any fancy stitches, and it needs to be around the $80-125(ish) range.

and it would be nice for it to sew easily through thick fabrics, like denim and such.

I've been researching some, but i'd like to get some opinions on what you think!

i've found this one...  its a great price... does anyone have this machine?

I've also heard that singers arent very good...  any opinions on that?

Thanks!!

and so this isnt a text only post... a crochet hat im proud of )

OK, I've been lurking in this community and reading everyone's crafty ideas for a month or two now, but I finally got a digital camera of my own so here's my first post! I made these V-day cards for my friends/family and they were so cheap! A pack of 20 of those cool old-fashioned looking gift tags is only $1.50, and I bought red polar fleece to stitch on for the hearts and some cheap extra buttons to enhance the cute factor.

That reminds me, I know some of you are vegan like me and would therefore be averse to using felt (since the only kind I've ever found is made of wool- correct me if you guys have found non-wool felt). I've discovered that polar fleece is a great substitute! It's pretty inexpensive, comes a variety of colors, and shares a lot of the same characteristics (like unfinished edges don't unravel and it's soft and fuzzy). Sorry if this was obvious, but I just recently discovered this as a felt substitute and so I'm thrilled haha!

i looked around google and i visited tshirt surgery on lj, but i don't really see anything related.

any of you stenciling girls:
where do you get your shirts? do you buy in bulk? thift stores? walmart? old ones laying around? the ones i have are all stupid, like "AVV SOCCER #26"! (i hunt these ones down at value village). i just wondered if there was one particular place on the net that sold good quality shirts for stenciling for a good price (i want to start doing my own).

and, so it's not text only!
my table is finished, i think. i might add another layer of modpodge. i d

i also have a green one i'm going to do and then move them together as a coffee table in the living room.

This is kind of random, but I keep seeing all these purses on this community and I want to make some SO badly. The only thing is, I don't have a sewing machine here at school (and even if I did, I would so not be able to work it...I'm not a big sewer).

Does anyone have any patterns for bags that can be made without the aid of a sewing machine?

Has anyone been able to paint or decoupage presswood furniture? Ya know cheap stuff like you get at Walmart, if so how did you prep it?

Hey all this is my first time posting. I'm Nicole, I'm 14 and from Michigan. I have a question..

I want to just take a regualr shirt and put whatsername on it. I think my friend told me there was paper you could buy and print it off your computer and iron it on your shirt? Does this stuff exist?

so i was at walmart buying some fabric paint and noticed the clearance rack of fabrics. so i checked them out and a spotted this really colorful one, realized it was shrek, saw it was 2 bucks, and bought it. now i like shrek and all, but i'm not some hardcore fan. HOWEVER, my mom's fiance(e?) is a huuuuge fan, so i figured i'd make him a pillow out of it. this is the result.. a huuuge semi-body pillow. simple and fun. :)
