I know what your going to say "Does this girl not have a life?" You would be correct! This bag took e about ... 2.5 hours to make. It was to make sure I could figure out what I was doing with a Jordy bag. I ended up messing up like 10 times with it, first not doign the linging the right way, and having to cut all the stitches and redoing it, then not getting the second handle piece seted, then sewing it on twisted up. But, I proved to myself I could actually make a bag that looked cute. So here are the pics

This Saturday I was left to my own devices for the day because my better half was at work ((driving an ice cream truck! haha))
I've recently become obsessed with skirts and sewing in general, but have yet to make anything that successfully fits.
I've been looking for a dress form that I could buy, but couldn't find one in my price range
(( I'm broke ))
I remembered seeing a link somewhere, not sure if it was on here or another community, to a site about making a DIY dress form. I hunted it down and then set out to make one!
I got about 50 yards of duct tape and wrapped myself up.
My mother helped, in between laughing at me, do my back and shoulders.
I got the first layer and a half done before I ran out of tape and had to ask my Nana if she had any I could use.
She laughed too and asked what I was doing.
I told her I was making a dress form and she says to me, "oh, I have something for you than."
She goes to her room and comes out with a real dress form!
I took it, of course ;), but refuse to use it for myself, since I didn't wrap myself in tape and sweat for about 1.5 hours for nothing! :)

I need some crafty advice from you guys. I have some cigar boxes that I got a long time ago for crafty projects but never ended up using because I couldn't figure out how to get the cigar smell out of them. Does anyone have any tips on that? I have both the all wood type and the type that's more like thin plywood covered in paper...

I tried putting potpourri in one but now it just smells like potpourri and cigars. I'd rather have no smell at all!

Any ideas?

Well I did this hat last night. I pulled out a pattern and ditched it before round two because I couldn't get it to look right. Then I just decided to wing it, so I have no clue how many stitches are in it. All I know is that I love how it turned out.
Yarn is from Frankfort Ave off ebay and it is a acrylic blend that is pretty soft and light. I used an "I" for the hat and the flower.

I think I might keep this one, maybe not I only have about 20 hats. This is going to be a favorite tho.

does anyone know where to get 11x17 frames for cheap (less than $10) or of a good way to make them for cheap?

I'm an extreme slacker, so I just finished this last night. My mom used to drive a school bus, and she collects them, so I made her this fleece applique blanket.

hello
i made some things out of vinyl, by cutting two shapes and sewing them together, without the flipping-inside-out method.
but it becomes floppy and bendy after i'm done :P
how do i keep this from happening, is there a way ?
thank you

Hi there, my sewing machine is grumpy! It's been so for awhile, I'm trying
to troubleshoot myself before lugging it in to the shop!

When I turn the handwheel after I've threaded, the bobbin thread doesn't
come up like it's supposed to...it doesn't come up at all. What would
cause this? I have a new needle and new bobbin case, I think I've set the bobbin thread right. The thread seems to get caught down there on the bobbin when it's looping around.

I have pulled up the bobbin thread a bit forcefully and the stitches I can do when threading the machine that way are a mess. The bottom stitches are a bunch of loops and the top stitch looks normal. I had the machine serviced last summer and haven't used it much since then.

I got my pin/button making machine last Friday and I've been having fun ever since! I ordered a bunch of 1 1/4" pin backs - I think they are the perfect size actually - still small enough to be cute...but big enough to see clearly what is on them.

So yeah...I made lots and lots and lots of buttons - I swear, it is addictive! For these pins I didn't use paper, but rather, I used vintage kimono fabric. I didn't put the plastic cover on them when I made them as I love the the look and feel of the matte fabric texture.

I think I made about 50 of them so far:

Two close-ups behind the cut )

Now, I need to hide the machine so I don't spend the rest of the day obsessively making them! D=

I've decided to make fairy garden centerpieces for my wedding! These are so much fun to make. So much so, that I'm planning on having a 'make one yourself' table at the wedding. I'll put out all the ingredients and some terra cotta planter saucers and let people have their own fun :)

lots'o fairy goodness here.. )

hey is anyone on the Joann's free shipping list? I need to get a shitload of yarn for a sweater and really don't want to pay the $7 shipping and the free shipping code is NOT working for me for some reason (it's saying it's expired).

Is anyone willing to get the yarn for me and I'll paypal them the money? Or know why free shipping promo code isn't working? Or knows a really cheap site for Sugar&Cream or Lion Brand black cotton yarn?

Thanks!!

Does ANYONE know where I can please find some freaking 1 1/2" webbing tips? I can find the 1 1/4" but I don't need that. I've looked at every single place I know that sells webbing to see if they have any, and nope! Can't find any. I know someone has to sell them. I have belts with them. Other people have belts with them. There's some out there. I know it. So who knows where some are? I dont understand why this is so difficult. They make webbing in many different sizes, so is there like one universal tip for all the different webbings? That can't be true. Someone please help me. It's driving me insane.

Hi there!  I wanted to share something I made with you!

I've been knitting for a long time but have been dying to get into other crafts.... so for my good grades in my first year of college (I made the Dean's List!  Hooray!) my mommy bought me a sewing machine!  And I wanted to share my first project with you!  It's a paintbrush holder!
