I saw the icon, and... I couldn't resist. I took out the "Mosh hard" part, cause it didn't really tickly my fancy.

Anyone know any patterns for crochet or knit nightgowns or nightshirts? It's hit summer here in Texas, and I need some light, inexpensive nightshirts.

Sadly my camera is brokzored at the moment, or I would put up pictures of things I've made recently. I have picked up knitting a week or so ago and am facinated by it. Yay for more possibilities for things to make!

ok so this might be the most morbid thing ive wanted to do.....but my betta, which ive had for over 4 years, died....i really want to preserve him somehow and well turn him in to a bracelet... does anyone know the best way of going about this???

So for the first time I made some actual shirts. (The ones I made before were for testing)

I made these tonight:

The Clay one is for my best friend cause she loves Clay Aiken. The other is mine, but I'm not sure how much I like it. I was going to just put a little quote or something small underneath the slipper, but I didn't have a small stencil and I knew I'd mess it up if I free-handed it. I was thinking of adding 'then marry him' to the back. I love Cinderella.

I used stencils for the letters, but I filled in the little spaces so they didn't look like stencils.

Hope you like :)

Hi, you incredibly resourceful people. I am having trouble finding the huge spools of thread - the ones that are about 6" tall and have lots more thread than a standard spool (intended for commercial use). None of my local stores carry thread in the quantity I need.

Does anybody have an online source for these huge spools?

Thanks!

I just started playing with beaded and wire jewelry making about a month ago, but it's been great fun learning how to create different pieces. I don't have a wire jig at this time so there are so many little pieces of bent wire all over my table! :-)

I would like to be able to sell some of my pieces in the future but for now it's all in fun. Here are some of the things I've made lately. Please feel free to comment or give suggestions! Thanks!

Lots of pics! )

I'm putting these up as a sneak preview to what I'll be selling at Renegade (they won't be on the my web site before then). I need some advice/suggestions. Any hints on how much I should charge for the items?

1. Silk-screened pillow. About 8x12 inches. I'm also thinking about making tote bags with this image on green vinyl and some stitched detailing--would anyone bite?

i finished a box this weekend, and got almost another whole one completed. this one is a commission piece, from a girl who wanted an edward gorey/chinoiserie/east asian theme - not the easiest things to mesh together, but... i think i did alright with it - any feedback is *greatly* appreciated - i want these to be the best i can make them, since people are actually paying for them...

I'm learning to spin wool into yarn, but before I actually start, I should clean the roving, right? I'm going by the cleaning instructions in Lee Raven's book Spin It, and she mentions the phrases "shorn ends" and "tips". Which is which? I want to make sure before I wash the wool, because Raven says that you can agitate the tips all you want, but if you mess around with the shorn ends it'll felt, and of course I don't want that. So which end is which? Thanks so much!

Hello Everybody,
I recently hand painted some shoes.
I got them at a shoe discounter store for just 9,99 Euro (they are no name shoes).
The seams are actually painted in purple even if they look blue on the pic :-/.
And yeah, i know, they look a little Vans-like, but tell you what, i wasn't able to find Vans with Stars printed on it,
so i HAD to make me some by myself.

What do you think?

Some of you might have seen this over at the stencil communities but I wanted to show it off one more time since it's one of the more complicated stencils I've done. :)

I was thinking of attaching some flat backed rhinestones to things (mostly hard plastic surfaces). Can anyone recommend to me a good glue that doesn't have a lot of toxic fumes?

im tired of seeing endless boutiques for chic little accessories for dogs. dogs get everything. fancy clothes, hats, even ice cream! and the few who do cater to fashionable felines are entirely too expensive. so of course i decided to spoil and pamper my cat the DIY way.

(model: jezebel)

i used wire with a break point of 12lbs of pressure and a magnetic clasp. i soldered the ends of the wire for extra stability and safety. and the magnet clasp is just as safe as those safety-cat collars you see. i thought it rather ingenious myself.

of course now i have all sorts of plans for other collars and fancy toys and maybe even try out my kitty ice cream recipe tonight.

*blinks* Now I really like Crafter's Choice! I just got a letter in the mail saying that they've made adjustments to my account because of the mishap last month with my order. Not only did they let me keep the quilting book for free, but now they're giving me the Message as well! It's on backorder, and this is how they're compensating me. I can live with that! They've got a consumer for life, now ^_^ (in case it wasn't obvious, but I ordered The Message Bible through them and instead they sent me Biblical quilts or something like that. I asked them how to return it and they said for me to keep it, free of charge. And now this, yay ^_^)

I've heard Converse sandals being talked about, but never actually done it. And now that it's summer, I have so many pairs of Chucks I'd love to turn into sandals.

Has anyone done this successfully or does anyone know if there's a tutorial for this anyhwhere?

Thanks.

Crochet apple! I made her for a coworker who's last day is tomorrow. She is leaving our crappy college student job for a job with Teach for America down in Miami. I know she's going to be an amazing teacher, so I went with the corny apple plush.

I freehanded her and I LOVE her. The picture doesn't show it well, but I think I did a darn good job of getting the top and bottom to indent (I actually managed to tie them to each other, so they won't even un-indent either). The stem is a pipecleaner, the eyes are buttons, and I LOVE HER! I can barely bear to part with her. I hope this doesn't become some new fruit plushie obsession for me.
