Iron-on transfers are nice because they quickly and easily let you customize your wardrobe, but the problem is that they always end up looking like crap (peeling, cracking, fading, etc.) after you wash them a few times.

If you brushed a coat or two of clear fabric paint or textile medium over the iron-on transfer image after you ironed it on your shirt (or whatever), would that preserve the image and keep it looking good after repeated washings? Has anyone ever tried this? Does it work?

Thanks.

Does anyone know where I can find a steaering wheel cover tutorial or pattern? Target no longer sells Hello Kitty stuff. I am only a few things shy of having a Hello Kitty pimped out car. I have the seat covers. I just need the stearing wheel cover and the litter bag. For litter bag pattern I need a farly large sized one because I drink alot of water in some what large bottle it also needs to be some what sturdy, should I add bartak (i think it was called) to make it stiffer or should I starch the living crap out of it?

Suggestions or help would be nice.

And a quandry. I'll put it up here for those who do not wish to join me for a wonderful trip down CHEAP T-SHIRT MAKING LANE.

So, acrylic paint + textile medium, great. Now it's dry and done. I have to iron it to set it. Do I iron both sides, or just one? The front, the back? Should I iron it through another piece of fabric so it doesn't explode/combust/burn? The back of the textile medium just says to iron it. Very helpful. Though, it might say more under the price tag, which is unfortunitely placed over the instructions. Uh, by me. So that's the last time I ever tag anything without looking.

Anyway. Image heavy fun. Stencilling part 2. Electric Boogaloo. )

So... I had this picture mat that I had lying around and last year I decided to paint it red and then drawn mahjong symbols from some mahjong pieces that I had as a bracelet onto the mat. Then I put a layer of blue sparkly nailpolish on top of that.

So... I was looking around our apartment...a nd found this decorated mat and decided to finally make some art for it.
picture heavy, pictures behind cut )
I then gave it to our apartment manager who has been asking for a picture of my art for a long time. :) She was very happy about it. I am glad to have made someone's day. Now if only I can find a job.

Ok, a while back on here someone posted some nifty things they created and one of them was a condom pouch. Well, I was quite inspired by it and I just made it up as I went along.

I found some fake fur stuff, felt, and button and this craft store all for under $4. I have alot of material left over after I made the pouch as a present for my hubby. Heh.

Here are another set of kokeshi and a little painting I did yesterday. I cannot believe how productive I was. Here's hoping today will be the same.

Did anyone else read the book The Weather Witch as a kid? It would have been published in Ireland, probably in the first part of the 80s. I've been craving a reread but can't find it here in the US. Hmmmm. But the weather witch in the painting is a much nicer sort than the one in the book!

here's the deal, everyone: i'm trying to make my boyfriend a stuffed chocobo (of final fantasy fame) for our 13-month anniversary (we kind of neglected our one-year...but i digress). i'm having a heck of a time trying to find a workable pattern to modify, as i really just don't trust myself to freestyle the thing. this is kinda what i'm aiming for.

so if anyone has any good leads on instructions as to how to sew such a thing (or patterns for other birds such as geese, flamingoes or ostriches), i would really appreciate the help.
thanks a lot!

Soft Mom Pants Turned Frilly )

Cut across just above the crotch of the pants, cut down the seams of each (now detached) leg to form sort of a circle skirt pattern, sewed that to the waistband piece, then added lacey fun-ness & ribbon as I saw fit.

update!

So please help me with this. I would really appreciate it. Thanks :)

Okay, so what am I doing instead of cleaning? Crafting, of course. This time, I have stepped into clothing - t-shirts that is.

This first one, is something I thought of for a while. I have a lot of strappy tank tops, but my arms are really ugly, so I wanted something to wear that wasn't long sleeved and wouldn't constrict me. So, after a trip to goodwill, I got myself the first of what will be two t-shirt 'dusters' ... a duster was an old cowboy jacket for hiding a gun by what I know, I just like the idea. The shirt is a (dead) link to the HongKong.1997 virus which my geeky side loves.

This was just a real simple cotton t-shirt (xl) that fit a little tight, so I put it on backwards (to preserve the art) cut off the collar, and cut down the middle, then hemmed each side. I think it came out extremely well.

The second, came out of my father's closet. My dad wears really old cowboy shirts - you know, long sleeve, snap buttons, certain style cut and sewing, generally seen in Texas? Well, one of his shirts got a huge rip in it, and before my mother could toss it away, I grabbed it. I decided, that since it wouldn't fit me, (arms are too small and I would ruin the thin cotton if I tried altering it) that I was going to pull a grunge style ... the wrap around jacket.

I basically cut out the collar, and cut down the sides, cutting off the pockets and leaving an angular ending to it. I left the cuffs to use the wrist snaps as the closure, and I use the arms through my belt looks. I like how it looks, and it keeps my dad's country-ness around me.

tonight i was planning on having a friend over, we were going to spraypaint some t shirts and shoot the shit together, but as i am a mess lately, it seems that i have misplaced my stencils, just plain letter stencils. we were going to just write things out, and it seems like finding, printing off and cutting out letters from the internet would be too tedious. i have the shirts and paint but no stencils are to be found. does anyone have any ideas for what else we could do with these or any alternatives for stencils?

please and thankyou ♥

Here are just a few examples of the hemp jewelry my little brother makes. He's been doing very well selling through a local store and at school (although he's really not supposed to). Of course, this means he's sold a lot of the cooler ones. These are still nice though! (Also, I don't mean to advertise the fact that he has sold them, I'm just proud because he's 13 and actually doing something besides playing video games. :P)

Green necklace.
