Hi, my name's Sammy. ^_^ for a couple of years now i've had an interest in Cosplay (or costume play) and designing costumes/everyday clothes, but It hasn't been until this year that i've been trying my hand at sewing and creating stuffs =3 Recently i've been mostly into the Gothic Lolita fashion that originated in japan. I love how frilly and cute the style is, yet dark and beautiful. I love it.

but yeah.. new here ^_^;

I hosted my first Stampin Up! workshop this weekend. God it was fun. Lots of different levels of crafters came. We giggled so much at each other trying to tie bows, and punch holes. You would think those things would be simple. ;)

Here is what we made )

commissioned from a friend as a birthday gift for a friend of hers who collects cows.

i am enormously pleased with her. i was so worried she would come out very...country. you know, those sorts of weird cow wood paintings and such. but i dont think she did. at least i hope she didnt.

[ as i am several several dolls behind in my showing off, expect lots and lots of dolling goodness over the next day or so! well, if you want to. feel free to not care too ;) ]

Umh okay its practically 3:30am on a school night, but I can't sleep, SO i made myself an ipod cover! :/ I kinda got the measurements wrong and cut some of the bits wrongly/messed up the sewing, but I am trying to make up for it with cuteness :/

It's not done yet though, because I still have to sew on the button at the back! I'd better be heading off to bed now though!

I got got a gig teaching a weekly crochet class at Michael's Craft store - hooray 25% discount! I was hoping for some input into my lesson plan. The problem is is that someone can sign up for any week they want or keep coming back week after week. After a little while I am likely to have crocheters with a little experience as well as people who have just bought their first hooks. I don't really know how to deal with this once it arises. Any suggestions?
Also, if you were taking a crochet class what kind of things would you want to learn and what kind of projects would you like to do?

good mornin lovies! i just moved into a new apartment and im tryin to decorate my room so that ill never ever wanna leave it... my own lil slice of paradise *sigh* but its just so goshdarn exspensive! im lookin for a less costly way to put up wood blinds or bamboo blinds or anything of the tropical nature. the room is terribly bright, i find myself wakin up at 6:30 in the morn and not bein able to fall back asleep. i already hava waterfall, chiffon canopy over my bed and plants everywhere, the one thing missin is this! thus, my window treatment goal is: blockin the blinding rays of sunlight from my sleepy lil eyes while lookin totally badass and islandy. any suggestions?

i usually do a poopload of stencilin, so home decor just aint my thang )

i've started making a "money box" for my brother's wedding. i want to paint a cardboard box ivory white, but first i've painted it with 2 coats of white acrylic paint. the frustrating part is that the ink from the company's name that has been stamped all over the box is bleeding through the white paint. is there something i can coat the box with to stop the ink from bleeding through? maybe oil paint?

thanks craftygrrls & boys :)

So I made this dress 2 years ago, but never got a proper picture of it. I never have it with me at school, because I have no where to wear it, and never remembered to take a picture of it when I came home. But I am bored today and remembered to. I looove this dress, it's probably my favorite thing I've ever made, and it sparked my obsession with the black/white/pink combination, and with polka dots.

stationary

Aug. 2nd, 2005 01:57 pm
[identity profile] smilesatclouds.livejournal.com
Sorry in advance for text-only. I'm at work and don't have access to anything more.

I am going to study abroad for 4 months, and really wnat to make cool stationary to write to my friends and family. I am hopnig to buy blank paper and stencil my favorite stencil that I've made onto it.
I was wondering if this would be possible.

What kind of paint would I use on the paper that would be as smooth as possible so I could write over it?

Any tips would be awesome. I was thinknig that rubber stamp ink would probaby be best? Do they make it only already in the sponge or does it come like regular ink?

SO many questions. Obviously I'm just at work day-dreaming about going to Denmark for 4 months, and how much I'd rather make my own paper than buy a boring unpersonal stationary set!

I'm trying to get a jump on things for the Chrismas season, a lot of the things I want to make are going to take a good deal of time. So planning now and sticking to schedule is probably a good thing.

This year, my boyfriend is buyign his parents a few bottles of wine to go with their christmas presents and I have decided I would like to decorate a few wine glasses for them to go with it.  Problem is, I'm having trouble finding sites about decorating wine glasses and techniques for doing so.  I found lots that sell hand decorated glasses though.  Does anyone have a favorite how to or some experience about what to not use or good techniques to use?  It'd be much apprecaited!

can anyone point me in the direction of some good embroidery websites?

I want to try embroidering flowers on a pair of jeans or something, considering how expensive they all seem to be and I looked around but couldn't really find any great websites.

anyone know of some?

My boyfriend and I play music together as an acoustic duo called The Shiny Anytime. He is also in an alternative/country band called The Great Northern. I have a 2.25 inch button maker from Badgeamint that I bought a few years ago and thought it didn't work... turns out, I was just not strong enough. So together, we made a button for The Shiny Anytime and a keychain for The Great Northern. Here they are.

clara and calla are not a joyful pair. it is not that they are exactly depressed, as that would imply some sort of stimulus, but rather that they have had not one small occurrence in their lives worth smiling over. when they were born their mother laughed at her good fortune - ‘siamese ballerinas!’ she thought and began to count pennies in her head. unfortunately, though the girls slaved away in their classes the best they could muster was a clumsy twirl before crashing down in a pile of hair and ribbons. and such was the story of their lives, oh they tried poetry and song and the piano and darts, but their very best was always slightly out of tune or a bit too far to the left. finally clara and calla had no choice but to pack their small leather bag and run away. the poor girls still haven’t quite found a place to settle, and simply wander about sighing softly to themselves.

a commission from a friend who wanted a set of sad siameses.

I've been meaning to post here for at least a year now, and well... I've done a few projects in that span of time and so here's some of them. And this is a sort of two post entry so that I don't make your computers explode because of the pictures. I couldn't really find a lot of the stuff I've been making so I'll post again another time... hope you enjoy! Sorry in advance for the blurry ones.

Does crochet count as a craft? I'm not sure the brand or weight of the yarn I think its just red-heart in white and light pink there's also a single row of pink as the band. This is my first chihuahua attempt the ears are huge and i love it! Image hosted by Photobucket.com(First post jitters, if its too big I don't know how to cut yet!)

hi,

i find most, if not all, of the creations and/or ideas of the members in this group very interesting. and i sort of want to start doing somthing as unique and interesting as well. does anyone have any suggestions on any craft that i should try working on? i feel very eager to start on something and see how far my creativity takes me.

i want to start on something somewhat basic with materials that are pretty easy to find and quite affordable as well, so as not to disappoint myself if ever i just end up spoiling it. i'm sure alot of you guys would have really cool suggestions. so far, every single entry that i've seen lately have been very outstanding.

ok..i'm getting all giddy and excited now. haha

hello, my name is tini, i'm 19, a natural medicine student, and i really like making things. "jack of all trades, master of none," is my crafting motto! i'm new to posting but not to reading here. i love this place like crazy, and now that i bought myself a shiny new digital camera, i think i ought to start posting some of my creations!

all of my favorite things have been given as gifts, so i don't have any pictures of them currently, (stenciling projects and sewn purses and the like) but i do have pictures of some wings i made for a live action roleplaying game (makes dork noises) so here they are.

these were for a faery i played. )
