alice, of the wonderland persuasion

i am working on making the entire cast, well most of the cast. i have the hatter, cheshire cat, and 5 of spades done so far, but alice is by far my favourite.

same stuff as usual, sculpey paint ribbon wire hair etc etc.

curiouser and curiouser )

i want to spray a design on some flip flops, but am lost as to what sort of paint to use, as i guess foot sweat would eat away at it. i know no design lasts forever, but finding a good lasting one would be useful.

also, i'd like to make a semi-puffy tutu type skirt (i'm great with words) with the top bit flaring out a bit but drooping down towards the ends. could anyone show me a pattern or tutorial?

any suggestions would be great :) and thanks in advance!

I've been one of those long time lurkers, and I thought it was time to post some of my own crafty stuff... There's some really good stuff in this community. I know this is probably very sew related, but that's a craft isn't it?

I made a leopard fur bag tonight, and on the weekend some leopard print pants... Lat week I made skirt for a photoshoot out of the same leopard material as the pants. The bag and the skirt are both my own design, but the pants are from some old ones I cut up to make a pattern. Piccies behind the cut... Tell me what you think ? I know, I'm hooked on leopard...he he he...

Hey all! Not exactly new here, have been watching this site for a while and commenting now and then on things.

I was wondering...

Just recently, I got my first quill with a metal nib on it for writing and a small starter's bottle of ink. It won't go that far, so I was looking into making my own ink. Was wondering if anyone here has ever done that? And if anyone has, and happens to know a good place to buy materials from and/or has a good (preferrably easy) recipe? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I want to do a moleskin journal. Ever heard of it? Probably, since I think I saw it first mentioned in this community. For those who don't know it, here is a site describing what they are and the history of them:
http://www.moleskine.co.uk/

Another extremely useful site has been this one: http://www.knaw.nl/ecpa/ink/intro.html

Anyone else here involved with old-fashioned doings of the sort, keeping an old fashioned journal / sketchbook like that?

I think it would be neat to do! Learning to use dip pens and how to do drawings and writing in old styles to keep such a book... it'd make a neat conversation piece at any rate, and a nice hobby. Also something cool to pass on, or whatever. :)

Anyone know where online I can find a solid wire hoop necklace? Like this except with no pendant. Just a plain silver hoop.

All I can find so far is memory wire, and that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a looser hoop.

Or even if I could find heavy enough wire that would hold it's shape and not bend if used in this manner. I don't know what gauge that would be.

I'm trying to knit some mittens, but the size is all wrong. It's just WAY too huge! I was wondering if I should finish it and then try shrinking it (18% mohair and the rest is acrylic... how much would it shrink?) or if I should rip it all out now and start over (I'm not an experienced knitter though and even half of one mitten is taking me a long time, but I'll do if I have to). I'm afraid if I shrink it first, then try to rip it out, the yarn would sort of mat together and be impossible to rip out (I'm using Patons Divine... it's very fluffy), which is why I'm asking for your opinions :) Thank you all and I will edit with a picture in just a few minutes so you can see it!

edit: ok here are the pics :)

So, someone out there must be able to understand what I am about to ask.

Knot tying....like the kind of knot that you would put at the end of a necklace (clasp area, but sans clasp) to make it multi sizable (yes, love the technical wording I've got going on). Pretty much two knots so the necklace becomes one continuous loop and you can pull the sides apart to make it smaller or bigger. Can someone please tell me how to do this!? Any help is so very much appreciated. Thanks everyone...

I've looked through the memories many times and I've never really found anything that I really would like to do. My boyfriend lives in Kentucky, and lately the distance has been getting to him. And he's been really sad. So I want to make him something that would cheer him up and tell him that I love him. Got any ideas?

Do you want to know how to make this:

I made a tutorial )

the cheshire cat

obviously i didn't go with the pink and purple disney version. mostly because the illustrations are always better, and disney likes to get pretty lawsuit-happy sometimes. all and all i like the little guy though. i am rather fond of his tabby stripes, and his smile turned out properly deranged.

ingrediants: sculpey, paint, wire, crackle medium.

tomorrow is the first day of my senior year!

and i am on the newspaper staff this year.
and i was racking my brain already for ideas to write about.

and i decide what better. for me. than to do a diy/craft column.
each paper i would have a different tutorial for some really easy craft that anyone could do.

so i was just wondering if anyone has any craft ideas, or titles for my column. i was thinking diy or die (classic) but that might not be school appropriate. kids die alot at my school. i have no idea. but i am super psyched.

thanks.

Can someone help me with using my Sulky Pen?

The directions on the back just aren't good enough for me and some info coming from a person with experience would be lovely.

Thanks! ♥

Hello! I'm from the Aurora, IL area, and was wondering if any of the craftgrrls would be interested in a party/potluck/swap (supplies and finished pieces)/possibleopenhouse thing. I'm thinking not until November...I know, long ways away, but I have to plan long range lately.

I'd love to meet more local crafters!

(sorry, no pics. Go ahead and delete this if you feel it's inappropriate)

Hey Everyone. I tried looking through the memories but I didnt see anything that matched what I was looking for. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to make a necklace like THESE. As in, what materials would I need and about how much would it cost? I dont necessarily need it to have clasp in the back since I'd like it big enough to just put over my head, lol. I'd also like to know how to make a shirt like THIS. Or if anyone knows of a place I can find a tutorial for this that would be muchly appreciated as well. Thanks!

I hate non-pic posts as much as other gals, but I need help. I'm starting a SWING DANCE CLUB. I need cute ideas for set up, costumes, and food, etc. I'm not really wanting to spend loads of dough on this fella, but I still want it to be kinda sexy/cool swingin. Any ideas at all?!?

I've never posted on this or any community, although I watch them and see what other people have made. This is my first real project... Fun new purse!! )

I have been watching for a LONG TIME and I can finally post something!! (Yay)
I crocheted a scarf with mohair wool and the lady at the yarn store spun another sort of yarn in with it. I'm not sure what it was but boy, was it neat!

Out of excitement, I have no indie-pop lyrics to insert here )
