Hey folks, several of you had asked where I purchased the snowglobe kit I used to make the Yoda snowglobe I posted about the other day...

I remembered I got the snowglobe kit on Martha Stewart Living site...but that was in 2000... I just looked there now and it looks like they have shut down that part of the site that sells crafty stuff. :(

it's too bad, she had some good supplies there.

hello,

My name is Stan, and I was wondering if you all (or maybe just one or two of you) could help me with my problem. I've been silkscreening my own shirts on american apparel thirts because I like their shape and the way they fit. The problem is I've decided to make quite a few more and need to find cheaper shirts. If anyone knows where I could find "american apparel-esque" shirts I would really appreciate it. By the way I live in nyc.

thanks, i apperciate it

Tea towel for my boss. She has traveled to both France and Brazil recently, hence the French and Portugese. The pot and cup are adapted from Sublime Stiching patterns, the rest is freehand.

Well, I wrote an entry a few days back about making a "bleeding heart" cake for my boyfriend. Well, it didn't really bleed when he cut into it, but he got the jist of it. I was kind of upset to say the least because I wanted it to at least leak out a little bit, but it didn't! *Frowny Face* So thus the lack of pictures. But I just wanted to update everyone (yea, as if you all really cared) My next project however is going to be a quilt that I am making him for Christmas (given we're still together) but I'd also like to make one for myself (one of my life goals). Anyone got any tips or any good sites? I checked the FAQ already too, and I've been doing some searching on my own. If anyone has any easy tips, let me know. Thanks!

more!  )

I have a question. My boyfriend is moving to Los Angeles, and I'm moving to Santa Cruz, what are some ideas some of you have done for things to send in the mail and stuff in long distance relationships?

Hey there guys and gals.

I'm looking for a pretty easy book-making tutorial. Most of my searches have turned out pretty horribly.

I'm wanting to make a booklet that would serve as an agenda/planner type thing for writing down all my homework. My school ran out of the free ones that they give out, so I wasn't able to snag one, and I really need a place to write down my homework, or I forget it in a snap. All the planners I saw at the store didn't really appeal to me.

If somebody could direct me to a tutorial, that would be great. It wouldn't need to be terribly thick, I imagine, but I'd rather stay away from the old "fold pieces of paper in half and then staple on the fold" trick, as it tends to look pretty bad.

Thank you!

i am in the process of refinishing a nifty 1940s/1950s bureau, which has been repainted a couple times. however i CAN'T STAND that it seems like all the paint strippers are so toxic. so, i have two questions:

1. is there a way (besides sanding ~ i don't have the equipment) to strip paint off of wood that is more eco-friendly?
2. does anyone know of any good biodegradable/all natural/less harmful paint for wood?

i'm a bit nerdy when it comes to the environment, i just hate hurting it!!

I came across a bunch of craft books at a garage sale recently and want to try out some crochet patterns, but they have crochet hooks with letter sizes and the crochet hooks in the craft stores here are in mm.

I did some googling and I managed to find a conversion chart, but it doesn't list the bigger ones. Can anyone fill in the blanks?

Conversion chart under here )

And a pic of a bag I made recently for a Decemberists fan. )

Does anyone here know of a good request graphics community?

I've been looking up and down and I cant find a good one. ;__; I'm very sorry if this isn't a good question for here. I just need some suggestions!

Feel free to delete if it doesn't pertain to the community.

So all the staff in my unit at camp were given pieces of wood to paint/decorate however they wanted, and today they were put up in out rec hall.

This was my piece of wood:

After drawing the first letter in my name, I realized that it would look pretty ugly if I drew it myself. Soooo, here's what I did:

the steps and the outcome )

On the weekend, I made a pair of earrings and a necklace and earrings set.

My best friend made me such a beautiful scrapbook-page-looking framed picture for my 18th birthday yesterday, and I have to take a picture of it and post it because it's amazing. So that'll be in a seperate post later.

Comments appreciated! And if anyone tries out the method I used to make my wooden thing, let me know how it works out!

hi :D
my friends wrote with markers on a shirt for me, and i heard that if you dip/soak the shirt in VINEGAR, it will preserve the marker and then it wont wash off.
is this true ? or does anyone know a way to keep marker from washing off of a shirt ? thank you <3
