Hey ladies! This is my first time posting anything here. I'm stuck in bed sick with a cold and felt inspired to throw together some earrings. I'm new to jewelry making. I make a lot of hemp jewelry, but just switched over to beading and whatnot, so be kind! I'm verrrrry inexperienced.

this is one of the things i'm currently trying to finish...

it's just a simple bag i've made for my friends birthday. i was worried about the strap being to short/long... and i can't measure it against myself as i'm significantly smaller than she, so you can't see it very well but there are star buttons down the side and when i get around to sewing it altogether i will thread it through a gap i'll leave unsewn on the side of the bag and than make a button hole on the strap and make it adjustable that way.

okay. REALLY i needed to post that as an excuse to ask all you creative lovelies for some ideas.

it's my 21st soon and have decided to have a party, after 2 years of telling my parents and everyone else that i didn't want one.

i want a pretty theme. like spunky and cool. with a smoke machine and lots of pretty lights and fairy lights and we can dress up as spunky gorgeous faeries and other beautiful creatures... but than, what can the guys dress up as.. so that they are excited and motivated to do so? that isn't like a knome or troll...

OR/AND i was thinking a mad hatters tea party... or mad hatters dance party? but then... good ideas for guys and girls to dress up as? alice in wonderlandesk... but with faeries? hmm? and maybe it could be an "in a world of my own" theme? and people could come as something they would want in their own fantasty world... hmm... i like that... all i can think of is how pretty i can imagine the place being (hypothetically of course, as i don't know where it is going to be yet... just have an image of a hall near a quiet pretty beach and fairy lights and camping and waves... pretty....).

oh. and a while ago i posted for advice on my mums room and got so many lovely and helpful responses... our internet went down and i wasn't able to respond... but thankyou so much! they were such fantastic ideas! i didn't get to do anything to fancy due to finance and time in the end, but did get to use quite a few!

I'm going to be travelling to Burlington VT and Boston MA next month, and I was interested in finding out if there are any good beads stores that sell wholesale in either area. Any ideas?

I made this pirate costume for my son to wear at Ren Fest and for Halloween. The MD Ren Fest has a pirate costume competition this weekend. Last year he didn't place... so I stepped up my game:P I made everything he's wearing except for the sword and boots. I had to make the hat because I couldn't find a quality tricorn hat in his size.

So, long story short...my friend and I are making yarn balls for some people. I had this amazing lime green yarn left and I thought it would make a cool beanie. I had never tried to do this, however.

Hey crafties!

Anyone remember that girl who made the plush turkeys a couple of years back? They were like, raw turkeys, turkey bodies you could put in the oven on Thanksgiving if they were real, but they were sewn out of fabric. I remember she made 2 sizes, small ones and a giant one.... just bodies with wings and drumsticks...no heads or feathers or anything...

Think one of you sweet girls could send me that link? I know somebody must have bookmarked it! I did, but in my old, now-dead journal.

I need to be re-inspired! Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching and I was hoping there was a pattern attached to her posts. I wish I could remember her name! Bah! I'm getting old...

Thanks for your help! You are all a constant source of inspiration!!

If I am going to string seed beads and gemstone chips on the same strand what should I use? I generally use Soft Flex (I think that's the name, like tigertail but flexible), is that still a good choice? Is there something better?

Thanks.

ETA: I did check memories and the link wouldn't work, I went back later and it worked fine. I did find a post that pretty much said Softflex/Acuflex but I'll leave this post in case anyone has a different opinion.

okay.. so my friend knits and i crochet.

i know how to knit. i just suck.
she used to know how to crochet..but forgot.
we're going to be teaching each other how to do both.

but, she wants to make scarves for people. and i said if she made me one, id make her one.
deal.
all i have to do is get some new hooks.

but i was wondering.. i want to make her some nice stitchmarkers..
but i dont know what to use?

i might take the little pieces that open off one of those wineglass specifier things.
or.. yeah id like some help on what to use?

also, i made this iPod case a while ago.. the flap is too big, but its okay i love it.

p.s. i taught myself everything i know about knitting and crocheting.
only thing i have a problem in knitting with.. is casting on too tight and not being able to put the needle through. and keeping a consistent ..tension.
tension goes for crochet as well, i always skip the last chains nd it just ruins stuff

target is selling their bead kits on mega sale.
once 14.99 i picked up 5 kits yesterday for under 20$
they are now about 3.74 a piece.

this is only the little circle tin kits.
but damn, it's really cheap once you think of how many beads and pieces are in there.

felt

i checked the memories but didnt see an answer to my question.

I am the one who made the halloween ornaments a week or two ago, and now i want to make some larger halloween bags out of felt [not nice homemade felt, but store bought felt] but i am not sure how to make the bag sturdy.

Felt in layers is very sturdy, and probably will be ok, but to sew through layers of felt..is kind of daunting [i do everything by hand]

My question is, is there something i can wash it in, or spray on it to make it stronger? A starch, or something?

Sorry if this question is stupid, but ive never needed to ask this question! Ive never made a felt bag before.

Thanks in advance:
Athanasia

Text-only for now, but I am SUPER excited!
While walking my dog, I found an abandoned license plate half buried in the ground! I dug it out, took it home and scrubbed it up, and now I've decided that the only course of action for it will be a kickass purse. I was wondering if anyone knew a good method for attatching fabric to metal? I could poke holes in and stitch it up, but I was hoping for another method since the metal seems pretty heavy-duty. Thanks!

Been creating some new treats. Customised a
blazer i got from the charity shop.  I made a skirt for my girlfriend out
of some Chinese patterned fabric (this was my first go at making ladies
clothes.) let me know what you think.

Heres the skirt...... I managed to put a zip and
slit down the side in it!!!!

Here's my jacket  i used white and yellow
paint. i love it its exactly what i wanted but you might not like it.

Thanks for you time

While browsing through the lovely land of internet shopping, I found these. I'm just curious on your opinions on these. I want to get some to make earrings with, though I'm not sure which are really worth it. I do really like the western ones though. What do you all think?? Just looking for some opinions! Thanks!!

charms this a way! )

this is probably the stupidest question EVER. but. i figured this would be the place to ask.

for ceramics, after you have the greenware fired and it becomes bisque - can you just paint it with arcylics? or am i gonna have to go buy all new paint? and what about firing again after painting? how does that work?

thank you!
