Hi there!

I wanted to share with you all my pride and joy.

I'm a huge fan of the show Mythbusters and as a gift to Adam and Jamie, the hosts, I decided to sew my speciality - sock monkeys.

I took a free crochet class at my local library this summer and decided to put my new-found skill to use in a baby present. A friend I've had since the two of us were three years old together is about to have her first child (possibly tomorrow!)

this is in regards to my previous post: http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/6945727.html

I decided for my mom's gift to just distress a wood frame and send it as an 8x10. but there were so many other good suggestions in that thread, i'm going to try a couple others out.

what i'm wondering is this... instead of using the actual photo for decoupage, what should i do? i want to put it onto a wooden box, so i'd have to glue it. should i just use regular copy paper? or perhaps card stock? i've never actually done any decoupage so i'm not sure what will be good for keeping them image intact for many years, etc...

any suggestions?

Ok so I basically need to know how to clean stubborn dirt out of fun foam. It's actually a pair of flip flops I own but it's the same stuff only thicker. I figured if anyone would know it's be you guys.

well I worked a bit on some new faces for pendantsi ncluding a new Halloween one which I think turned out cool. As well as a new hand cast paper bowl that I hand painted, I love the way this one turned out.

Here is a group shot including one pendant that I wire wrapped in blue and copper wire which I will NEVER DO AGAIN as I stuck a bit of the blue wire through my finger which really stinking hurt! lol

This is my first entry, and the very first time I've actually finished a knitting project. Thus, I felt it a worthy enough success to post here!

i've finally gotten to the point today that i'm so tired from school, college applications and choir activities that i needed to just sit at my computer for two hours straight and make graphics and change html codes.

it's not exactly artsy crafty, but it's computer crafty. i'm a fan of that as well as knitting and sewing.

i put together a new layout for my beatles fansite in less than two hours (the quickest for me, ever, i believe.)

i'm pumped to show it off.

Could someone point me to a post please? Someone posted some cell phone danglies/rearview mirror danglies that they'd made with charms on them, it was fairly recent but I can't find it ;_; TIA

So I have an issue that I figured someone here might be able to address. Well, I recently taught myself how to crochet (and knit, too, but that's not what this is about), and I decided that I wanted to crochet myself a hat. A basic google search and glancing through several sites later, I decided that this was the hat for me, and it seemed easy enough. Now, I've been managing quite well so far, but the problem is . . . I don't have a crochet hook. So I've been crocheting using a pencil. The issue here is that the gauge is probably different (I think my stitches are smaller than the gauge they want) so I'm worrying about whether I should alter the instructions for the hat. I've gotten up through round nine, but it currently has a circumference of about fourteen inches . . . the finished product supposedly has a circumference of twenty-one inches. In the instructions, at this point, I'm supposed to be working even in single crochet stitches for three and a half inches; do you think it's supposed to already have the full circumference and from now on just be working down for the sides of the hat, or will it expand somewhat as I work? If it won't expand, should I just do another few rounds where I continue the previous pattern by doing now eight single crochet followed by two in one stitch all around and then nine single crochet followed by two in one stitch and so on until it has a decent circumference?

Wow, yeah, sorry that was so longggggg and just text. When I finish the hat, I will post a picture! I am also knitting myself a scarf (first knitting project). But hopefully someone can help with this . . .

vintage optical lens pendant.. my first one, definitely don't have my process down yet.. encountered some air bubbles, and the glue melted my painting a bit. the image (el corazon) is scanned from a spanish card game, photoshopped, then painted with acrylic paint. rather see it on a leather cord as well, but i'll get there.

hey, i'm sure one of you ladies might know the answer to this

i went looking for textile medium to mix with acrylic paint for stenciling on fabric, and i found 2 types...
type 1 is a liquitex product, i believe it was called somethingrather900 textile medium. it required heat to set it, and warned of toxic fumes (formeldahyde actually!) being released when you heat it to set. it looked very liquidy in the bottle..and the bottle was about 11 bucks

type 2 was another brand (possibly golden or something like that..they are both available at curry's..). bottle was half the size, more viscous than the other type mentioned above..and said nothing of heat setting or toxic fumes upon set (since no heat set was mentioned)

any advise on which works better? anyone use either of them? is one of them more of a silk screen/fine/soft texture than the other?

i currently use a ready blended fabric paint, which is just fine i suppose ..but since i have a huge giganta-tub of black acrylic (which i really don't use..how much black can you really use in normal usage??) i figured i could invest a little and use up some of this paint that's just sitting here.

anyhoo. thanks!

**edit because i forgot i took a few pictures!!**
