this weekend I made this set of jewelry. Everything is made entirely of sterling silver wire, black faceted beads, and crystal E beads (I even made the earwires, get down with my bad self). It took a bit to figure out how to make the spiders, but once I figured it out, they're not to hard to make.

I'm completely giddy over them. I couldn't imagine the spiders coming out as well as they did and the webs really look nice. So, yay! Just in time for halloween too!

ello loves! this is my first time posting...and i have a question! i will be selling things in a craft fair (i have a site, but i dont want this to look like a selling post, so ask me if you want to know what it is!) in a week, and i would like some ideas for things that i need to make a BUNCH of...i have a lot of jewelry, about 10 bags, some shirts, and some brooches that im working on. what im wondering is...those of you who have participated in craft fairs before, what do you find sells best? im GUESSING handbags, but ive never done this before, and id not only like to sell a lot of stuff (obviously!) but what items gather the most interest? im going to make business cards...but if i dont draw attention to myself, no one will come over and even bother picking them up haha. so what items of yours did you find to be the most popular? any advice would be greatly appreciated! nooooooow...heres SOME stuff ive made recently!

I just finished a custom coat, most coats don't fit the dachshunds right. It's much much darker purple than in the picture, my camera is acting all sorts of wonky. It's a double fleece hoodie with extra belly coverage. I have my sketch book out and I'm starting a whole new line of winter coats.

hello all... it's been a while since i've posted anything but i've been lurking to admire and be inspired (never fails, with all the talented folks here!).
i am getting a jump on making my daughter's halloween costume - she's going to be a fairy - and, being a not terribly experienced sewer, i thought i should ask the best way to sew layers of tulle into a skirt. i'm going for a sort of long tutu with raggedy layers effect and have bought a couple of different colors of tulle and some velvet as well (to add to the flower fairy-ness and give it some added texture). any suggestions? thanks so much in advance! pictures to follow, once i finish the costume!

p.s. i did check the FAQ/memories and didn't see anything on tulle..

my crafty thing i like to do most is bake cakes. i live with 2 boys, so decorating cakes has to be inventive to impress....

it's an equalizer.

so yeah, i should add details eh?

it's a yellow cake, with strawberry icing in the center (colored NEON orange) and the black icing is chocolate. all the orange icing is strawberry, whereas the rest of the colors are just vanilla buttercream. there is scalloping on the edges, and a star border on the base. i used induvidual icing dots (took forever, my hand cramped) using the #4 tip.

To take my mind of things i made my outfit to wear to the pub on friday.
I consisted of a black and white polka dot puff ball skirt which i made and a white t-shirt which i bought but was too big and short. see behind the cut for more details and photo.

I've been wanting a tangled silver chain and I finally found super-cheap chain at Joanns ($4 per pack, I used 3 packs.)
There are 14 strands in three different sizes.  Hmmm, not sure if I should maybe tangle it a little more..

Pictures, please... )

though i doubt it, i'm wondering if there is such a website where you can type in a kind of yarn, and find patterns that use that yarn.

i buy so much yarn that i have no plans for and no patterns to use them for!

another question...how to i make an easy lace scarf?

i looked at patterns for other things for refferance, and assumed that if i just k1, yo, k1, yo...and keep going, that it would work. but it didn't really. somehow i seemed to end up with more stitches than i started with and it just got more wide as i knit, and stayed small at the bottom.
so i got frustrated and unraveled.

help!

For my senior project I'm doing t-shirt-surgery. [[livejournal.com profile] t_shirt_surgery]
The Senior project is just this huge, year long project in order to learn something new.
I don't want to do anything new, and I want to do something I know & that's fun. BUT..
I need to find sources of information to do annotated bibliographies.
The library is closed, therefor I can't get any sewing books or something,
& I really can't use livejournal posts of tutorials; it won't seem efficient.
I was thinking of just doing bullshit like..sewing sites instead or something for now,
considering I already know oodles about this stuff? But I can't find anything. :[
It would be wonderful if any of you could help me do a little research,
cause I have no idea what to look for. Please & Thank you very much.

I cant believe it has gotten this long! )

So my question. See how it curls up? Is there anything I can do now, without taking it all apart, which I have already done once, that will keep it from curling inwards? Thanks!

Also, is there any way to undo knitting stitches, as in a whole row? For this scarg I was knitting one rown, purling one row, but I accidentally did half a row purling when I was supposed to be knitting. How can I undo this?

I don't know if this is quite the place, but I want to show off my most prized piece of junk. You ladies fill my head with ideas.. I just have no time. :[

we go grocery shopping, and for some reason, nobody bags in paper anymore, so we have accumulated dozens and dozens of plastic bags. i can't throw them out...and we only need so many small garbage can liners.

what on earth can i use these for?

i thought i saw a post about making a bath mat from them, but do not recall where. so, help a sister out. (and i know i've been asking lots of questions lately...but i'm young!)

While I was waiting out the hurricane, I made this. Not sure what the stones are made of, though.
