Yesterday I finished making my first hat.

Me and the Madly Pink Hat )

That's the first thing I made that wasn't constructed of rectangles, so now I can decrease! It wasn't as hard as I had anticipated. Knitting things to wear for winter almost makes me look forward to the season!

I've started to make a couple of doll house miniatures. These are both about 1" in diameter.

He saw one in a magazine and thought it was keen, but the magazine was more than I could afford at the time, so instead I went home and made it up as I went along, using supplies I had laying around.

I figured this might be the best place to start with a few questions. Does anyone out there make their own jewelry boxes, etcetera? I want to make one for my friend for Christmas, but I'm new to the crafty world and I'm not entirely sure where to start. I'm going to go shopping for boxes probably this weekend because I figured that was a good starting point, but after that - I think I'm lost.

I know there are a few people out there who make beautiful boxes for photos, perfumes, etcetera and I imagine this wouldn't be too different from that. I do have a few ideas that I want to do, such as using oriental designs and shiny-ness - I imagine decoupage would be the easiest way to decorate it, but I'm not sure.

Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas that you can offer me from experience?

Hello everyone! I wanted to share a few pictures of an almost-finished costume that I will be wearing to an upcoming Renaissance Faire in November. I decided to dress up as a Harvest Witch, so I incorporated a strong Autumn vibe into the costume. Also, I've already posted these pictures in the community [livejournal.com profile] faeriefashion, so apologies if you've seen these before.

Hey girls!
I have just recently started to make earrings. But my earrings are very childish, seeing as they're just made out of fimo. But I've seen all of your earrings made with beads, and I'd like to make some of my own. Anyone have any tutorials on how to do them? Or any tips/advice? The only supply store I have for my earring supplies is Joanns.

THANK YOU!

I'm making my first blanket, which means a lot of love and time. i've never really finished a project, but I know you're supposed to weave in the ends. From what I understand you just yarn a needle and pull the yarn through some stitches and make it un-noticable. I've looked at several illistrations, and it just seems like my work would un ravel, is there something I'm missing? I even went to stitch guide dot com and they didn't have any info...

Thanks in Advance.

it's starting to cool off and joy oh joy am i excited. it's gotten to the point that it's not too hot to knit anymore, so i've been knitting up a storm! (gotta love the fact it's homecoming week and teachers won't give homework so they can encourage "class bonding" through float building.)

i knit this scarf in all garter stitch with the bellezza collection yarn from joann's. it's the bellissimo, 90% wool, 7% nylon and the rest i'm guessing is the irridescent bits (on the label it says "3% other fiber").

it's so pretty, the colors are beautiful. i love how the little irridescent bits shine in the sun. the yarn's lovely and fairly nice to work with, and for a 90% wool blend, not all that exspensive (around $5.99 a ball, $3.60 with a 40% off coupon!)

i'm wondering if i should try out some of the other bellezza yarns they have at joann's. anyone else tried the others?

on to the pictures...

plus three )

now i'm working on a white scarf made with paton's divine yarn. i'm trying to recreate this scarf from dELiA*s. the real one looks better in pictures than it does in real life, and for $19.50? over my dead body. i figured i could make one at least as nice for cheaper.

i'm also anxiously awaiting two balls of handpaintedyarn's tuscan sky super bulky pure wool yarn. i'm so excited.

more pictures to come. :D

I'm sure you all remember the amazing felt book that kickandslide made for her daughter...well, I was inspired and made one for my son William. Before you look, I want to say that it looks better in person...for some reason, my camera made the colors all wonky and won't show all the details. Weird. Anyway, here it is! )

I'm helping work on my school's senior class float and our theme is the 80s. I went out to buy the cheapest neon paint I could find. I bought this kids' paint that was really bright (and for 16oz was only 1.99).

The problem is it's pretty thin and not very opaque. Any ideas on how I can thicken it a bit without changing the color [much]?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks guys. :D

I dont know if this has been posted but I was channel surfing and I saw Todd Oldham on HGTV on a show called Homemade Modern. He had a few cute ideas and they have them all listed on the HGTV website. Just thought these were some neat howtos for people who need inspiration (like me!)
