So i realized my teeny chihuahua, Tundra, gets cold so easily! she has basically no fat and little hair to keep her warm.

I made a few clothes to keep her cozy, posted them here and there.... )

so my sister had a predicament ... everything in her apartment is either black or red, and she had these horrific lamps:

which didn't go with anything, and were severely unmatching.

so i told her to rummage through my fabrics and we would do a collage over the ugliness, and have beautifully crafted awesome lamps.

here's the result )

brunhildevalkyr's post reminded me that I too made a pirate costume although it's not as well done nor is the person it was for (that would be me) half as cute :)

hey all, how do you guys cut through vinyl? particularly, in the way that this tutorial commands me to do. i've tried scoring it with an x-acto but pieces went flying into my face (good thing i wear glasses). i also checked the memories and someone mentioned heating it and then cutting it? if so, what temp should i use?

...help!

I am away at school, staying in a dorm room, and people have been making things to sell out of there dorm, which i think is awesome and fun. Does any one have an idea of what I could possibly make and sell?! Ideas and pictures of things would be a great help!

Thanks, Erica

I just bought a derby (I think it's made from felt?) and it's black. Problem is, I need it to be white.

Any suggestions for what I should paint it with?

First I apologize if this breaks one of the rules or has been done several times over, but I wasn't sure if I could post this, and when looking through the FAQ section I really didn't find exactly what I was looking for there. So if I did do something wrong, I apologize ahead of time for it.

Anyways, lately I have gone on a jewelry craze and really want to buy some new stuff. But since I really don't have much in the way of craft type stores near me, I really don't get a chance to find any beautiful handmade jewelry. So of course the next best thing is the internet. I have had no luck finding any site yet that seems reliable enough for me. I checked out www.crafsters.org and looked around, but most of the stuff I found there was kinna expensive or they didn't take paypal (I prefer to use paypal over sending checks or money orders). I also checked out ebay, but some of the stuff I found there was also overpriced or I didn't know who to trust to buy stuff from. Basically I hoped that if I asked here, I could get a good list of sites/ebay members that can be trusted and are reliable. I can do checks or money orders, but I really do prefer that it be paypal. I greatly appreciate anyone that can suggest a good site because I'm going nuts trying to find one. I found the following sites, but I wasn't sure if they were good sites to buy from, so I figured I'd give the links and see if anyone on here had used them before.
Crafts N Scraps
Timely Jewels
Adornables
Patti Designs

Thanks, and again I apologize to the moderators and fellow members if this breaks any rules.

I recently participated in a Stash Swap on another forum. We had to make something functional, something wearable and something fun using only the items in our current craft stash - we were not allowed to purchase new pieces.

These are the items I made for my swap partner. Seeing 99% of my stash is kimono fabric....that is what I used. This was the first craft swap I've ever participated in...so I was a touch nervous. Thankfully - she loved everything!

Something Functional: Handbag

Another photo of the bag
Lining of the bag - it has chrysanthemum patterns

so over the past couple of months, my boyfriend and i have collected a substantial amount of smirnoff bottles. however, we are at a loss as to what the hell to do with them. mostly they are half gallons, but there are some fifths, and even three pint-sized ones.

what would YOU do with them?

anyone know how to make a pinhole camera?

i looked at the memories, and the altoid sours tin idea looks awesome. but i don't know how to actually *do* it.

i guess what i'm asking is:
-what materials do you need?
-how do you set it all up?
-how do you... make it go?
-how do you develop the picture?

thanks so much to anyone who can help!

craft on,
caitlin

So, I figured I better post something.  I've been lurking long enough that you craftgrrls might start to get suspicious...

So, here is a set of ornaments I made from baked salt dough, Raven, Cat, and and Cauldron:

I got really excited about Halloween, and I got a silly idea about making costumes for my dogs. (Please don't hate me. I wasn't trying to be cruel, I promise). So, I got a little bit crafty again.

UGH, I am so frustrated!! I'm pretty sure it was in this group that someone posted photos of some charms from Hallmark. One said "my pet" and had a place for a photo, and the other said, "my person." It also had a photo and could be attached to a pet's collar. I've been to Hallmarks in San Francisco and Ohio, and I can't find them! They also don't seem to have them on Hallmark's website. So I was wondering if anyone remembers this post, and if so, where that person got them. Thanks!

I checked the memories section but found nothing.

i was hoping to make my own soap from scratch, buying as few parts as possible.

does anyone know how to make your own lye? i've heard it has something to do with wood ash soaked in water, but i don't know anything about the particulars.

thanks.

Hi.
I'm in Australia and I bought a "Funky Creations" badge maker from Target and was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy refills for it? (I went on a bit of a badge-making frenzy yesterday and used almost all of the pieces up.)
I've tried ebay and google, neither of which provided me with much help.

I built an extension for my rats' cage out of wire mesh ^^  That'd be the grey thing on the left. I cut a hole in the side of the white cage and attached it with thick wire. They grow up so fast. Anyway, they love it, and there's tons of fabric scraps made into a comfy nest in there right now (this picture isn't actually brand-new, but the batteries are dead in my camera). By "fabric scraps", I mean "clothes that I left too close to the cage and were pulled in and chewed up."
