Finally finished something for myself! I swear, as soon as people learn you can knit, everybody wants something and the worst part is, they just don't GET how much time/effort/planning it takes to do!

Enough pitty, more pretty! I made this scarf out of something called 'Bliss' and let me tell you, the name? More than accurate. It's like a little fluffy kitten; so soft! I got it on sale at Wall-Mart for like two bucks a skein, buying two skeins as I KNEW this had to be a scarf, but ended up only having to use one. And this is a six foot long scarf here people, with enough left over for a good amount of fringe! I used my giant 15 needles to give it a sort of lacey look without actually having to do any, you know, work. AND! If that wasn't enough! I hand beaded in some clear, lightweight glass beads onto it. You can only make out a few of them in the picture, but trust me, they're there and there are a LOT! At least two every row, all random and pretty like.

This is my 'Summer Glau' scarf; it is white, airy, sparkly and is a loose lace stitch and has eleven stitches. If you get the symbolism in that... well, you're my hero.

Shutting up already; pictures! )

What type of knitting needles do you prefer: metal, wooded or plastic?

Why?

I am having a difficult time knitting. I'm not sure if it is the needles, the yarn or me that is the problem. I had no problem at all making one of the knitted kittens using size 2 aluminum needles and "Sugar'n Cream" cotton yarn.

Now I am trying to make a scarf using the same yarn, size 9 acrylic needles and stockinette stitch...well, I know the stockinette stitch has a tendancy to curl, so I'm trying to do a ribbed design.

The problem I'm having is that the stitches are HUGE on one end, but they're fine through-out the rest of the piece.

Any ideas or tips?

Does anyone remember the infinity scarf? It remind me of a mobius strip? I'm looking for the pattern and when I tried to search for it on a search engine using those terms I got 5 results, none of which were remotely close. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where I can find a pattern to knit it?

I went and bought stuff to make earrings. But I wasn't able to find any themed beads. Does anyone know where I can find them?
P.s I went to Hobby Lobby & Joannes
So this isn't text only...

Hi! I'm new here!

I have been looking at alot of people's needle felting work, and i'm kinda interested in teaching myself how to do it. Can anyone recommend the name of a good book or kit? I saw a few kits when i did a google search, but i'm not too sure which would be best to get?

Also, i'd like an honest answer, but is needle felting a hard thing to learn? I tend to give up kind easy, like, i learned to crochet, but i can't figure out knitting, to give an example of my learning skill.

I appreciate any input i can get, and thanks!

i crocheted a hat the other day, it was my first project w/ working in rounds but it turned out pretty swell so i'm really excited about it!
yes!
here is a picture:

(sorry it's kind of blurry.)
i got the pattern out of a recent issue of "family circle easy crochet."
speaking of, i have last months issue of "family circle easy knitting" (it has a cover with some cute argyle mittens on it) but i don't knit, so if anyone wants it you can have it. i'm not trying to SELL it, so i hope i don't get in trouble..
heh.

I've been meaning to pick up some shrink plastic. But after cruising on ebay, I'm a little overwhelmed. There are so many generic brands and types. So a few questions for everyone who's played around with this stuff:

What brand would you recommend? Shrinky dink? Polyshrink? Grafix Shrinkfilm? Other?
What type would you recomment? Clear? White? Rough and ready (that sounds really bad)?
Any additional tips for a nubie?

this is a pic of a necklace/body piece in progress - sometimes called Dreadzilla, but when it's finished it will be "Enchanted Earth" with the roots and crystals entwined -looking for chunky amethyst pieces to go in it.

alli + illa

alli and illa are horrible rotten awful girls. they spit on sidewalks and steal little wrapped candies from the local corner store. they pinch and kick and bite, most especially illa (right.) you see, alli wasn't always so rotten. she used to try and put the candies back, or whisper to her mother from the corner of her mouth, but illa would only pull her hair and threaten to pinch. and besides, any punishment illa got might as well be alli's too. so eventually she gave up. now the two of them are the most atrocious girls you might ever meet. though alli still never pinches quite as hard as her sister.

(sculpey, paint, wire, hair, ribbon, pure meanness)

Hi there Craftgrrls... I'm working on a present for a friend and I'm almost finished but I need some Tacky Glue. The problem is, I already have two or three bottles of Tacky Glue that are almost full, but I cannot get the glue to come out no matter what I do! This is getting annoying and I'm sick of buying more, does anyone have ideas to unstick my Tacky Glue? (If it helps, I'm gluing pieces of felt together, then embroidering them to a lined knitted item).

And so it's not text only, I've been taking a break from my sweater from hell to knit some quick fall projects.

Stencil! I've only ever done single-layer acrylics and one two-layer pumpkin before, so this was new. (It's spraypaint.) It was part of a collage, which I'll post later.
It bled, but I like it. )
