well, i didnt really do anything but buy this from a yard sale, and then paint it black.
i really don't know what the previous owner used it for, but i decided it would be an excellent place for me to hang up all my jewelry, since i have so much stuff cluttering my bathroom. and i thought it turned out great..

Does anyone have any tips for handsewing? I do have a sewing machine, but it's a nightmare, and I'll be sewing very small clothes, for dolls, where I'd have to handstitch most things anyway. I've tried looking at books, but most of them focus on using sewing machines in the end, or are really old and out of print.

Does anyone have any helpful websites or tips for learning how to handsew?

I've already posted this around, but a few people have mentioned that you folk may get a kick out of it too.

My younger sister just moved to Calgary from here (Ottawa) to start at ACAD. As Calgary is prone to early winters, and as my sister loves knitted gifts, I decided to make her something.

Oh, you can't help that, said the Cat: we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad )

I'm debating matching mittens. Do you think that that would be overkill? What else could match the theme, really?

Anyway, thanks for looking :D

So it's a mixed-media collage of sewing supplies. Woah, double the craftiness!

Since getting a drum carder(it's used for processing fibers to make them into fluffy batts and thus very easy to spin into yarn) I've been a mad woman, the way the machine works is just too much fun, even my boyfriend got interested and tried carding some fiber(of course under my watchful eye!)

These batts can be taken as is and spun into yarn. I tried to get really crazy with some of them(adding a little bit of everything) and I think the resulting yarn will be very awesome.

The fun part is in blending various 'plain' fibers to create something that just can't be ignored.

Picture heavy.

I lost my house, computer, art/craft supplies and all my art/crafts to hurricane katrina and rita.
So I start over... I needed a dream catcher for my wall so I splurged and bought supplies to make just one.

I call her rita )

Sooner or later when I get money for some supplies I'm going to make a red and black angry looking one and call it katrina.

My mom just had a hystorectyme. And I've been taking care of her and doing all that jazz. She's up and moving again and able to do almost everything she could do before. But I want to get her something, make something for her. What would you guys suggest. She loves anything that has French/France orientated. So, any suggestions?

my neighbor asked me to make her daughter a jewelry set for homecoming... the problem is homecoming is this saturday. her dress is black and fuschia. my question is, how would you all make this necklace? with chain links or just with head pins. and for earrings, i was thinking about cluster earrings on a reverse ear thread (shown in the pic) with a long chain with a bigger crystal at the end... i know she wants them about 2-3 inches long. i have no clue what to do for a bracelet. here's a pic of my design, the clear crystals will be black. i'd really like to hear your opinions about how i should assemble it. i'm going to make it tomorrow after i run to the bead store.

here's a pic:

chain links for head pins? )

DearCrissy.com THE MOLTING SEASON
10" x 20" abstract painting. This is painted primarily in acrylic, with some paper collage (from a phonebook), black ink, and my handwriting. The colors and texture are even more rich when you view this piece close up, and you can even read some of my handwriting around the edges and within the main tree's trunk.

My degree is in English literature, and writing often plays a huge role in the art I create. For me, this piece is about transition, seasonal and emotionally, summer ends, skin sheds, change, change, grow.

You remember Pinhead Pony? I've started on the newer Alien My Little Pony. I've only started on the head, though.

Hobo gloves round two- this time, I used self-striping yarn and I love them to death! The pattern is from ohmystars, if anyone is planning on trying them, know that the given CO number is way too big for small wrists..
