So I received a really pretty locket in the shape of a heart from my boyfriend's mom this Christmas, and I was just wondering....how do you get a picture that small to put it in the locket?

It seems to me that's impossible...the only way I could think of doing is just resize the picture, but it'd turn out all blurry and no one can tell what it is :(

Any ideas? I don't even know if it's the right community to ask...it is..craft related...kinda?

Teehee.

Thanks for all the help. ♥

I'm X posting this a few places.
Artists Unite To Help New Orleans a project formed by Alicia that growing more and more... artists and musicians from all over are contributing work and bands to raise money, etc etc
They are still looking for more artist, bands ect to donate time or services.
They are especially in need of a accountant, they have to send résumé... they CAN accept college students, as long as they already have a bachelors, or degree of sorts.
They also need someone to make a website as well as servers.
It should be a fairly large event,so you would get some pretty decent publicity for donating your time and services.
If you'd like to help out contact Alicia Angel1181101@aol.com and also more info can be found at the myspace group

Well I sewed, stenciled and embroidered this bag as a christmas present to my little sister. The embroidering says "brace yourself, bite your lip" it's from a fall out boy song, because she loves them. I wanted to do something personal but at the same time not something that was like FALL OUT BOY!.. so if she grows out of them or something she can still enjoy it. Well here it is...

(+4)
Well I hope she doesn't see this post before she opens it when she gets it tomorrow haha, oh well. Hopefully she'll like it, I put a lot of work into it.

Among all the goodies I got for Christmas was a huge Making Memories Tool Kit, and toons of eyelets, brads, and snaps.

Does anyone have any cute little projects that use eyelets? Thanks!

What is the difference between Continental and fair isle English knitting?

The way I knit is that I hold the actual piece in my right hand and the needle that I transfer my scarf to is in my left. What does this mean exactly?

I checked the memories, too. Thank you for your help!

a few months ago i lent my best friend,[profile] nickyad, my neighbor totoro for her daughters (3 and 5 years old) to watch. of course they absolutely loved it, wanted to watch it over and over, and pretend they were with totoro. i knew then that i HAD to make totoro gifts for xmas. i decided to make jazy (the 3 year old, who was more like mae) a huge totoro pillow and lily a white totoro backpack.

here they are before being wrapped:

I've knitted an ipod cozy (only thing that's important about this is that it is pocket-shaped and already knitted/sewn up on the sides), and now I want to sew a decal of sorts onto it. I printed something onto printable fabric that had sticky paper on one side and thin non-stretchy cottony fabric on the other. After I took the sticky paper off of it (to press it), I realized that the fabric frays rather easily. I also realized how little I've actually hand-sewn things recently (eazy-cheezy, but...still). I don't own a sewing machine.

I'm thinking I may have to cut the fabric, hand-sew a seam, and then sew it onto the knitted fabric. I suppose I could cut it and then sew it directly onto the cozy/case, but I'm really scared of the fraying. Also, this may be kind of 'dumb' for me to ask, but how do I cut it with the straightest edges and avoid fraying. Other than pinking shears, are there any special scissors I can use?

Does anyone have any tips for the best way I can sew this onto a pocket-shaped piece (as ipod cozies are pocket-shaped)?

I rescued this mirror from a discarded medicine cabinet and decided to do something fun. This is the first etching project I've ever done. I printed out the design on an avery label, applied it to the glass and then cut out the design and applied etching cream.

New hat!

This hat is to go with the scarf I made for my bf, which I just posted the other day. I think the stripe is too far up, but it's too late now! My mom likes it, my brother thinks the colours "suck". Which is fine, because it's not for him!

Double stranded Bernat Softee Chunky, three rows for each stripe.

Tribute to Sally Jean Alexander

I've been researching her lately for my IB Art research book and decided to make a tribute to her vintage fairy series.

Haha, I just noticed we have the same initials... signed by me!

tins?

Dec. 29th, 2005 10:45 pm
[identity profile] maandusa.livejournal.com
i've looked through memories and found a few of the usual suppliers that offer metal tins for craft projects, most of which i already had bookmarked. but i'm looking for various sizes, particularly in flip-top styles. can anyone suggest some new and different suppliers? i'm looking to mostly make pillboxes, so even the standard Altoid tin is a bit too big... :(

suggestions?
