Wheee!! Hello, Grrls! I hope everyone had a great Christmas/Holiday/Winter season, etc!

Before I forget, I want to thank [livejournal.com profile] thunderstorms and Elizabeth for the lovely cards they sent me!! Both are displayed with love and pride in my house! :)

A lot of my stuff you gals already saw photos of, but here's the final list (with some pics!) of the stuff I made everyone for Christmas: )

I've been really enjoying seeing everyone else's holiday crafting photos, too!! :D Also, I want to extend a huge THANK YOU to all of you gals for the inspiration and answered questions along the way of making all this stuff! I couldn't have done half the things I did for family and friends without your help! :)

i remember a while back, i came across someone who had posted a project they were knitting -- a sweater that was made to look like Will Ferrell's infamous brown/green shirt and belly in the "More Cowbell" SNL skit. i think i saw it in this community, or in the journal of someone who was a member here. i've looked in the memories and in other craft/knitting communities, and haven't been able to find it. i didn't think to add it to my memories back when i first saw it, but i want to show my husband (we're both big fans of that skit -- even though i loathe Will Ferrell -- and i am beginning to love knitting).

can anyone point me in the right direction?

google searches didn't turn up any good results, either. :(

I received a bunch of large sheets of craft felt for Christmas but they are of the stiff variety. Does anyone know if you can make them soft? I would imagine they were stiffened with starch?
Or any cool projects that can be done with them? They're really pretty colors so I would like to use them somehow.

I looked through memories but found nothing that looked similar to my question.

And so its not text only here's some random stuff i made recently )

Hello Everyone.

I just found LJ and craftgrrl! Way cool! This is my firt time posting a question.

I want to make glass ball ornament wreaths for Christmas next year - the kind that is made up only of ball ornaments of various sizes. All the ornaments are on sale right now and I want to get them while things are cheap.

I seem to be having a difficult time finding instructions online. I found a set of instrucitons through Martha Stewart but her version involves ornaments on stems. I would just like to hot glue them to a form or something. But I can work through that. But if anyone knows where directions for making this type of wreath are, I'd appreciate it.

But I guess my main question is that I need to figure out how many ornaments per wreath (or at least a rough estimate). I guess I would like to make wreaths that are about 12 - 15 inches.

Any ideas or thoughts on this type of project?

Thanks.

So I bought myself a nice little iPod shuffle with the Christmas money I received this year the other day, and what was the first thing I just had to do as soon as I got it home? NO, not download songs onto it! But make him a sweet little case!

I was going to make a couple cat beds for my friend's cat's for xmas. Then she told me that she used to have cat beds for them but they just peed all over them. :( So I came up with this. They're pillows for them to cuddle up on with removable covers so she can easily wash them if they do decide to be evil and pee on them.

I'm pretty sure I posted these already, but I got a scanner not too long ago and I've got better pictures now.

Has anyone used Pebeo Porcelaine 150 paints?

I was given a stencil kit last year on Christmas and haven't used it.. and I'd like to decorate a couple of ceramic items I bought for cheap. But I realized, the paint that comes with it, isn't for use on ceramics (only for paper, etc..). I wanted to decorate containers to hold sugar packets, tea packets, etc... but also, possibly, plates, mugs, etc.

However, the DickBlick.com website states:
Not recommended for use on surfaces that come in contact with food.

Does anyone know of a ceramic paint I can use that is food-safe?

do you adhere it to fabric? How does it get on.. by ironing?

I'm confused HELP ME

So far i'm really bored today so I broke out some zebra print fabric that I bought a while ago and just didn't knwo what to do with it and some shirts that I've put aside to play with.  So far this is what i've got: a zebra print messenger bag, a tanktop that's halfway done (i know it needs something extra but i don't know what yet), an attempt at a hoodie bag (there was a post earlier today that inspired me), and a bag that I made a while ago, yet still has no strap lol.

I have nothing clever to put here )

My friends and I had a t-shirt stenciling party last night, in the rain, on her roof in Beacon Hill (Boston). Here is a (sideways) photo of the t-shirt I made for my boyfriend. Of course the one I'm planning on giving away turns out the best.

Hey, this is my first post here, but I've been a lurker for awhile. :)

My first stencilling project was a t-shirt, and I think it turned out alright...

Oh Yoko! )

I'm planning on doing a multi-layer stencil next, and I would really appreciate some tips (especially since I have NO idea where to start!)

Thank you!

Does anyone have Simplicity 4668?

I somehow lost the pattern for the gusset piece for Bag B, and was wondering if anyone could scan it and post it or send it to me (shecauses_scenes[at]hotmail.com).

Thanks in advance!

I just picked myself up some felt from Michaels and was going to make a horde of beanbags for fun. Is there anything I need to be aware of or pay attention to when working with felt?

I'm moving out with my friend and her boyfriend, we got a two bedroom aprtment. i got the smaller room wich has a door, but the opening to there room has no door, its actually bigger than a door. and the battroom is directly across, so when i get up a three in the morning for work to take a shower any lights i turn on will totally desturb them. sooo i was thinking i could put a rod up and make a curtain? the only problem is i want the rod really sturdy, with doing minamal damage to the wall any suggestions?
so this isnt a text only post:

take a look )

I think... that I am going to give up on sewing. I drew out my own pattern for an overnight bag, and I'm working with some thick fabric. I guess it's too much for my sewing machine to handle, because the needle broke and shards flew onto the bag, got stuck on the bag, and one bounced off my neck. I've also poked myself hundreds of times on the pins holding the top & handles and the whole bag together. I've only sewn the lining and the main body of the bag, but I still have yet to sew the top (with the zipper) to the bag while connecting the lining and main body together, plus the handles. I'm supposed to do it all at once while just sewing around the top but it's too thick and I'm afraid of my machine now. >_<

If I hand-sew this (and what stitch should I use), do you think it will hold together and be sturdy enough to hold clothes + daily use items (such as toothbrush, etc.) for overnight carrying?

My dad's friend gave me some awesome gold fabric last week so I decided to make a bag. The top part is some lacy sheer stuff and decoration is an old dress-up necklace
