So I have been making scarves with my round knifty knitter, and since I didn't know how to make any scarves other than tube ones, that's what i've been doing.
But with the yarn I use, the tube scarves can get pretty thick.
I've asked questions about how to make regular scarves with the knifty knitter (just picking some pegs and going back and forth on them), but when I tried that, the last peg on the scarf was all unravel...y, and loose.
What am I doing wrong? Do I have to use an even/odd number of pegs? Am I wrapping it wrong?
I hope that makes sense?

Thanks.

I made my first rings today in a fit of boredom. They're all 18 gauge sterling silver wire wrapped in I think around 24 gauge wire. Something like that. They took absolutely forever.

Thanks for looking. I'm going to make some more some time soon :D

Alright, so I was planning on making somthing withn my new knifty knitter. And the yarn I bought to use is fairly thin so I am going to need to use two strands of yarn. I only bought one skien (or is it skein?) of yarn. So what is the easiest/fastest way to split it into two? I mean, that probably sounds like an idiotic question, but how do I keep everything from getting knotted and such, whats the best method? I didn't find anything about it in the memories, unless I missed it. Please help?

I recently got this makeup bag:

makeup bag to wristlet

and was wondering how I would go about making a wrist strap for it. It's made of PVC, and the lining is Nylon. I am hoping I can find a yellow or orange product somewere that matches similarly, and if not I wanted to buy a strand of pearls to use (good or bad idea?). Would sewing it into the lining hold, or do you think I will need to sew through the PVC also?

Thanks a lot for anyone's help ahead of time! ;)

Don't hate me because there are similar questions in the memories, I'm just such a baby and I need reassurance before I make this sewing machine purchase.

I hand sew EVERYTHING and it's so freaking tedious. I don't need to tell you guys, but the need to make things is pretty much overpowering- you know how it goes.

Anyway, I was tooling around the craft section of walmart (Mmmm, cheap.) and I saw a Singer for 97 bucks. Now, I DESPERATELY want a machine, and a reliable one. But I am scared to buy second hand- no warranty, no one to go to if it's a piece of crap, you know? The only thing I know is that I've heard good things about Singer from all of you guys, which makes me think I should go for it.

Can anyone give me any insight? Should I buy it?

Thanks so much for any help you have to offer!

I received some nifty beads for Christmas, so I made a necklace and earring set! I'm not sure yet if I like it. I'm used to wearing really bold and chunky necklaces and earrings. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could maybe change the necklace or the earrings, or if I should let them be? Anywho, here are the pics!

If this is inappropriate, please delete without drama, but I have a question for any crafters out there with experience/ideas/advice...

Here's the situation:

I am, among other things, a jeweler. I'm known particularly for the pieces in my Silver Leaves Collection...pieced which generally involve a good amount of material cost, as well as work time. It is in regards to these pieces that the question arises.

I was asked/given the opportunity to sell my work at an event. This would be extremely good for me, as I seem to fall too well into the starving artist category, and that kind of venue would help not only with immediate (potential) profit, but with reputation. I have been gathering commissions largely through word-of-mouth, so..yeah.

Here's where it gets tricky. I'm in Chicago, and the event is in New Jersey. There's no way for me to travel right now, besides which, I am also at a loss for professional displays, the ability to take credit cards, and other such useful-at-event things.

The man in charge of the event, who invited me to vend at it, seems a more-than-decent sort, and is interested enough in having my work represented, that he has taken a bit of pity on me. He has offered a contract for my security, and the opportunity to send my work, and have him arrange to sell for me. Assuming I could manage the time and overhead cost to actually make things to send/sell there, in the first place. When the contract was proposed, the basic premise of, "You send stuff, I promise to return the stuff in the same state, or the value thereof" was given. I currently have the ball in my court, to suggest what I would like the contract to include, say, in more detail.

So my question (unless you have tangental advice) is this...assuming this is all managable...what would you include in this contract? What would you do to try to make it legally binding? What would you want to arrange, for your monetary, artistic and mental security? Has anyone ever sold through this kind of arrangement, before?

Thanks, in advance, for any tips/ideas/advice/info. :-)

does anyone know of any places or organizations that would benefit from fabric donations? i have a ton of fabric and remnant that i want to get rid of, but i don't want to just drop them off at goodwill or thrift stores incase they are going to throw it away.

So one of the very few perks of working at a movie theater is that I get free movie posters/displays when we are done with them.
The latest thing I took was Uma Thurman off of The Producers display.

She's about ten feet long if I had to guesstimate.
I think she's pretty awesome and I just don't want her laying around doing nothing lookin pretty.
Anyone have any ideas of what I could do with her?
Something crafty?

Thanks!

I bought some lime green vinyl and I used to love the Mr Yuck stickers when I was a kid so I made a Mr Yuck out of vinyl.

Ok this is a very basic cross stitch question. Matter of fact I feel kinda silly asking it cause Ive cross stitch a quite few times and I cant find the answer. Well I was taught in home ec that you double the string when threading. Thats the only way I knew how. Since its not recommended to tie knots in the string how else besides doubling do you thread it with out always losing the string.
Annndd...

For anyone who likes sanrio heres a site ** http://www.geocities.com/sanrioxstitch/crafts/index.html ** with a bunch of simple cross stitch patterns. I was going to stitch Pinkno Corisu, my fav character, but when I looked at the pattern again the bottom is cut in half. Is anyone familar with the site now what happened to that pattern? Its so basic I probably can do it myself, but... Im lazy hehe.

Hi. I made a book jacket out of an old shirt of mine here ) and I plan on using this ) to stencil on it with some textile ink. I have colors to mix, but I have no clue what color to use for the stencil! I was thinking a peachy-type orange, but it doesn't seem right. Any opinions?

Theres tons of crafts to do to make jewelry, but does anyone ever make things to put it all in? Im trying to come up with different ideas on making a jewelry box for my sister. She has billions of earrings but no where to put em and be able to show em off. So if anyone has any ideas they are greatly appreciated.

I have some felt from Michaels, a whole lot (about 20 sheets I think), and beyond beanbags (which I now have 5 of) I'm out of ideas. What is fun to make with felt?!?!?!
