I took a break from the Potter Puffs and made a kitty bag. I took pictures for a tutorial but it might take me a day or two to get them up. I'm just so freaking tired.

Anyway, here is the kitty bag...

A lot of people enjoyed the long shirt/skirt I made in this post and it was requested that I do a tutorial. So alas here it is. I apologize for the terribly crappy drawings and the equally crappy descriptions. I've never written a tutorial and this project was really just an evolution so a lot of the steps were just trial and error.

(tutorial behind the cut)

Please if you have any questions don't hesistate to comment here and ask away. Also if you make something from this tutorial I'd love to see it.

okay... I was going to change a skirt into a bag. I wanted the lining to be strong, since I have to carry books and stuff in my bag all the time. If i buy anything I always put it in my bag. So I though Jeans was a good idea to have it as the lining. I cut it and started to sew it... Then I changed my mind and made a bag of it! I found this cute fabric between my stuff ^__^

Hey everyone,
I'm new here but I have been crafting for a while now, well ever since I made new clothes for my barbies. I'm not very good at crafting (unless its jewlery) but its fun and I thought I would show off my newest creation. I am really proud of these guys.

I crocheted a bikini top yesterday. I got the idea from this post at Craftster.org. I didn't use a pattern at all, I just did what she said she did. "All I did was make the square for the top part of the triangle, then I went back and forth across 2 edges. I measured myself from my nipple up to how far I wanted the top to go and that's how big I made the square, corner to opposite corner."

So anyway, here's what I came up with:

pictures of it on me )

You can see that it doesn't really fit very well. Not only is it way too small, but the nipples aren't in the right place, so the shape is off too.

Oh well, it's still pretty cool and I'm proud of it. lol

Hello. I've gotten back into crocheting. I made me a scarf and now I'm in the middle of a hat, but it is telling me to do a stitch that is foreign to me. What does FPHDC stand for? I know HDC stands for Half Double Crochet, but what is the FP? I looked this one up at stitchguide.com but I didn't find it there. I also googled for it, but the only instructions I found for it left me going, "huh?" Could you nice people please help me with this one? Thanks!

So what are the best sizes to use? It looks like 12ss (~3mm) is the standard, for crystalizing accessories. I'm thinking 12ss and 10ss?

What about other things like T-shirts and greeting cards, along with other crafts? Can you use the regular loose rhinestones, or would you have to use the hotfix rhinestones, and how do you go about doing that? Is there an instructional manual anywhere?

Just looking for some help from anyone who has used these before..I didnt see anything in the FAQ.

Thanks!

I sculpted and painted this pin last night and am totally inlove.... I'm glad I chose to make this merle because if it were brindle like my boy I'd be keeping it like the 3 others I've already kept this past month ;0P

This is sculpted out of polymer clay, and painted with acrylic. I'll be putting an acrylic finish on it. I used no molds for this looked at my Cardi boy sleeping in this pose and got the inspiration. I also sculpted a Pemmy in this pose but have not painted it yet. Next I'm making on of these for myself ;0P (Not that I'm addicted or anything!)

The last pin I fell for and kept was this one of my boy:

Monkey necklace! )

I made this necklace during the holidays while I was bored. I wish I could say I made the charm, but alas, that is not the case...

Could any one recommend a good sewing community on LJ? I love this community as the angst is non-existant. But a lot of my questions are sewing related. Such as today's question is, What type of fabric would you call the weight that military coats are made from? Not the type of fabric used on cammo stuff, but like on the all green coats. I used to own two of these coats, but I have since lost them to mold in my old apartment. :/

and so it's not text only, this is the sort of stuff i do.

Fancy doll clothes. :3 The doll shown is about two feet tall to give you scale.

Hey guys, I'm a lurker on craftgrrl, so I hope this post is OK... if not I'll delete it.

Announcing indiecraftshows.com!
For anyone who loves browsing, buying or selling awsome jewelry, housewares, clothes, toys, etc in a craft show atmostphere, the Indie Craft Show Directory is now open! We're trying to spread the word about awsome craft shows all across the country where you can find the best crafts.

In addition to the directory there's also a forum for talking about upcoming shows.

Know of a great show coming up in your area? Submit it to the site! We want to have the most comprehensive listing possible! Our requirements for listings is that they be for shows that have mostly handmade items, no cheesy craft fairs with ducks in bonnets or anything like that.

indiecraftshows.com is a completely free site, run by the Richmond Craft Mafia to help promote craft shows that rock.

i'm knitting that scarf for my boyfriend as a late christmas present.

see how the edges are curling in? is that normal for that pattern or is my technique wrong? i should also let you know that for that photo, i layed it flat as best i could. it normally curls all the way as to form a tube. =/

how can i prevent that?

Here is the finished yarn.

It's almost half a pound and around ~120 yards give or take a few. I've still got to get completely accurate measurements. No clue how many effin' pom poms are in it though, quite a few I'd say.

My first handbag, I made it this summer. The stitches could be straighter and it doesn't have a clasp, but I still think it's cute =D

I have been continuing the monster spree, between taking antibiotics for a sinus infection and starting back to work after winter break. I look crappy, but the wrap doesnt.

These aren't too spectacular, since I'm pretty much a novice knitter (after knitting for over a year, too...wow, I suck! :p), but, well...I wanted to post some pictures along with my knitting questions. Um. Or maybe a lot of pictures. There are about eight under the cut, so dialup users, take note and proceed with caution.

Headgear and...handgear. )

Now, two questions for all you knitters out there:
1. What's a good pattern to make with that recycled silk yarn? You know what kind of yarn I'm talking about...they sell it on thehungersite.com, and on Knitty, the Unbiased bag is made with it? I don't particularly want to make a bag, though...any other specific patterns that are good with this yarn?
and
2. What's a cool thing to do on the ends of a scarf other than fringe? I'm making a scarf in seed stitch, but the ends look...incomplete. And it's bugging me.

Thank y'all kindly in advance. ^_^
