Getting ready for Valentine's Day. I like this day. It's such a good excuse to make things that are pretty and girly. Read more... )

And a question: What are good wrappings for round soap? I tried wax paper, but it looks sloppy because I couldn't get it to fold nicely around the curve. I tried saran wrap but it looks like...saran wrap. Any other ideas?

I crocheted a knitting/crochet bag today. I made the bottom round and extra wide to hold several balls of yarn, and the bottom half of the bag is in a smaller stitch so that needles and hooks have a harder time wiggling their way out. The top is nice and narrow so that I can knit without the ball of yarn rolling out, even if there are other balls of yarn in the bag pushing it toward the top.

First time ever doing anything like this! I am really excited it came out pretty decent.. I see a lot of my flaws and I am sure I'll get a few of them worked out next time I make one!

I'm very tired but I wanted to finish this bag and put it up tonight.

It is inspired by a bag I saw but I drew the pattern myself and just figured out how to piece it together. Next time there are a few things I'm going to do different, but it came together with very little stress.

The illustration of the crow is by my husband, I just cut it out in vinyl.

The pattern will be coming from me after all and I should be releasing it very soon.

I made this for my dad for Christmas. It is a street marker for the new house that he just bought. He seemed to like it quite a bit.

i have searched stores, the memories, google etc and it's now time to turn to you all. help! i cannot find the squishy back findings that are good for keeping french hook earrings from falling out. i used to see them all the time...have they been replaced by something better? any idea where i can find them? i'm stumped.

also, i have a question about mod podge. i was thinking of using it on my creations that i do on canvas-the materials include acrylic paint and paper. i know it works on paper and i have something to use on the acrylic paint, but can i use mod podge for both? or is there another product that would be better?

thanks.

Behold, the fruits of my weekend's labor...

Pattern: $6, from Sweaterbabe.com.
Wood Buttons: $6, from JoAnn's.
Yarn: $4, from a thrifted 100% wool XXL J. Crew sweater that I unraveled.
=$16!!

Just another useless accessory, but I love it oh so much!

But I am proud of myself. I haven't sewn and actually accomplished what I wanted to sew since middle school. Oh I made a really easy bear.. Nothing major detail though. A cd case for school.. It sucked, Some sweat pants for school.. I suck at making waste bands and a stuffed snake for school. The snake was my first project.

I made my own pattern and everything. I used pleather the machine needle stayed sturdy the whole time.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what I could do with ring pulls (what you open soft drink/soda cans with) (Not sure what they are called in other parts of the world)

I have seen belts and bracelets but that isnt my type of thing.... Many years ago I bought a magnet and it was a snake made with them and felt. I will give them ago (trial and error I guess)

I was just curious if any of the crafty people in this community can light my curiousity by giving me any ideas.

Thankyou and have a nice day...

QUESTION ONE:
i bought a quarter flat of a batik print today at joann's.
it occured to me, as i was about to cut it up, that perhaps i ought to prewash it a special way because it's a batik.
what should i do? soak it in cold water, then rinse it?
or is it pre-treated?

QUESTION TWO:
are there any other tips i should have for first-time quilt making?
my mum has made basic quilts before, so she vaguely knows what to do,
and i've read the memories. i just figured i'd check because i'm already posting.

also, if this makes a difference: i know i'm supposed to preshrink all of my fabrics for my quilt, but i haven't done that for any of the other squares. i know, i know, i'm supposed to.

thank youuuu.

for all you costumers out there, what is a quick solution to
making my friend look like she's pregnant??

I am doing a photoshoot for a piece in my portfolio which is a commentary on domestic violence and the denial of it by the victims and my friend is modeling as a pregnant battered wife. But we can't figure out how to make her look at lesat seven months pregnant!

our solution is a teddybear taped around her stomach with a towel to fill in odd spots.

I need a quick fix by friday!!
