I just got my bachelors' degrees and am gonna frame them this upcoming weekend. My only beef is the frames they try to sell you to frame your expensive stationary paper costs around $200. Obviously I'm not that crazy to spend a lot of money.

I'm thinking of a mounting board and x-acto knife like in my photography days, but the problem with that is how am I gonna make the paper 'stick.' I don't want to just put tape on the back and call it a day; as much as it is expensive stationary paper, I worked really hard to get these degrees.

Can anyone give me ideas of how I should mount my degrees?

Anything crafty I might do with a plastic coffee can, one of those Folger's aroma fresh things (red with black lid).

Thanks in advance!

I love my polymer clay. And like usual, almost all of this stuff is canework on beads. The pink is a bit overwhelming but very Valentiney!

The pictures are large, for clarity and detail. Consider yourself warned!

Has anyone ever used liquid latex to decorate anything?
Sorry I'm making so many posts about my chair... but someone suggested liquid latex to me and it sounds like it might work.

I was thinking it would work cause it says:
Our special formulation of liquid latex has been tested directly on the skin with repeated applications since 1994 and no negative or harmful effects have been noted. Liquid latex is not made as a permanent coating on surfaces. It will lift off the skin by itself after several hours. It will not clog the pours nor prevent perspiration from forming. Liquid Latex is permanent on Fabrics and clothing

But I didn't know if stretching the spandex that has paint on it would make it crack or peel or whatever.

Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks so much!

EDIT
I ended up calling the 888 number on the website and the guy I talked to (he had a really hott voice by the way... haha) said it should work if I put enough coats on it, and that I don't need any kind of sealer, and the latex kind of cling that latex has will eventually go away.

I just wanted to say that for future reference... or for anyone else who was interested in my dilemma. hahha

i bought this fabric at a clearance outlet of one of my favourite australian designers. needless to say, it was pretty expensive, but i got alot for my money!

i also bought some beautiful blue knitted type fabric which was even more expensive (!!) but i'm going to make a beautiful winter top out of it - i hope!

clicky for a piccy )

it's not that great becuase i don't have an overlocker. but i plan on taking some proper sewing lessons soon so i'll be able to best work with what i do have!
i have so much of this first fabric left over, i'm going to make a little bolero out of it.

Anyone have creative ideas for a bridal shower? Let me amend that- I'm not in charged, so I'm not allowed to get TOO creative unfortunately (the last shower I helped with was a fantastic full-blown luau). It's one of those church lady showers, but it's my cousin, so as long as I'm helping, I'd like to pep it up where I can.

I HATE the idea of wasting money on fake flowers for centerpieces. Any better ideas? Low-cost or recyclable encouraged.

One thing I already have up my sleeve is to make something like this for game prizes (if we even get to do games):

But according to what her bridesmaid dresses look like (they had a red one on the site, but now I can't find it)

EDIT: I don't think we can use candles in the facility we are having it in.

Last day of exam week (just finished last exam yesterday) and so I had to fix up something ... because it's so fun! anyways, I am totally sick of the colour orange now. Don't know what to do with it because I'm not that much of an orange person nor am I a tigger person (Piglet rocks my socks!). :DD

My highschools select ensamble/jazz band is trying to raise money to go to a recording studio sometime in March, and the plan is to sell candy but I was wondering if anybody else had any ideas to raise extra money? Preferably something music-ish related and something easy and low cost to make.

So, Valentine's Day is coming...

And here's what my darling-loved-one-person is getting. )

Well, I hope he likes these. I know they're not the manliest thing ever,
but I lack the money to get him decent gifts x_x;

The little skirt that grew up to become a pretty dress

The fabric

My boyfriend Tim made this. All by himself with very little input from me. He chose the fabric, the style, everything. Clever eh? It was a skirt, but it was too long. And we didn't want him to chop the bottom off to make it shorter ((as that was the whole focus of the fabric)) ao i just took my shirt off, hoiked it up and voila! a pretty twirly floaty dress! i love it. i want fairy wings ot match now. hint hint tim...

New face

Hi! I've been lurking for a while, but never posted anything. I found you all when I was trying to make a t-shirt purse (the memories are amazing!!) but have been around ever since. I love all the new ideas and creative gifts all you lvoely people put up. IT's so inspiring. I find a new craft to try when I gret out of my dinky dorm all the time.

So I've been playing with my new sewing machine for a while, and I'm still not very good at it but hopefully I'll get better with time and more experience. But I just finished my purse which I'm relatively pleased with, and I wanted to put up pictures.

I'm also putting up pictures of my DS cozy. I need to make a little strappy thing for it for around my wrist, but I don't really take my DS anywhere right now.

Any (constructive) criticsm would be awfully helpful, seeing as this is my first purse and all. Thanks!! You guys are awesome.
