Ingredients for what good girls are made of: Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice
All in a bottle of sparkles

I made this for someone back in... whoa, 2002!
It was a heart warming gift, to a guy whom just couldn't find a girlfriend.
Two years later he found sweetest girl, and he's been with her ever since.

(Now I just need one for boys!)

Quick sewing question for everyone...would I use interfacing to make my tote bags a big stiffer/more sturdy and keep their shape? I'm making a purse for a friend with diabetes, so she has to carry around all her medical stuff along with her regular girly stuff :) I don't want it sagging like most of my cotton bags do...I've never used interface or anything like that, so any help/suggestions for when I go to the fabric store would be GREAT!

Just so this isn't text-only, here's the last custom bag I did for her...it's stenciled, Count Olaf from A Serious of Unfortunate Events

The next one will be a V for Vendetta bag...I'm excited!

So I want to make a totebag. I have been looking for tutorials here and on craftster, which just confuses me. I found the ind of thing I wanted, but I dont remember where I saw it. Anyways, I want to make one that has a bottom, but NOT sides. Here is an example of what I mean. http://www.homeschoolhotstuff.com/class/store/images/tote_bag.jpg

I have never really made a big project, but I know how to sew and all. If anyone can help me out that would be great. Oh I also want it be be pretty sturdy, for binders and books and stuff. thanks

Hi everyone, sorry that this is text only.

I love beading and have been doing it for a few months, but one thing that I often have a problem with is that everyone says you're supposed to thread the beading wire back through the last bead - the one next to the crimp tube. I often use medium-strength wire, and most of the time the wire will not fit thru the hole in the last bead. In that case, I just cut the wire and put a crimp-cover around so the wire doesn't stick out and poke you. I also have trouble actually getting it in there, in general. What do you guys do to get the wire back thru the last bead? is there some trick I haven't learned or figured out yet? Please let me know, as I'd really like to know how to do this properly. Thank you!!

Here are a couple of new pendants I made recently out of clay then handpainted, the first one has a circular cut out on one side with beaded wires running through it and painted with an abstract tree design in shades of blue, black, white, and green.

The send one is of a ladybug painted face that is wire wrapped with red beads.

Long time 'watcher'...before I share, I have a question...I'm looking for a web page, that has tips/how to make a styrofoam quaffle with a large size styrofoam ball. (soccer ball size...kind of...) I saw it some where, but I can't for the life of me find it again.

Has anyone see a page like this? (Yep, I'm a Harry Potter crafter XD) Thanks in advance, this community inspires me.

Hi,

I just joined the group. I'm obsessed with decoupage and embroidery.

A family friend heard about this crafts project that one of her friends does, but she doesn't know what it's called or how to make it. I wanted to try and explain it here to see if anyone knows anything about this.

It involves cut out pictures (probably on a flat surface), but there's a special kind of glue that you use to make the pictures three dimensional.

Does anyone have any idea what this is called?

Thanks.
Emily

hey all!
i want to open a store on etsy.com, but i'm a bit unsure about calculating shipping prices. i was just wondering, for any of you who sell online, do you use ups or fedex? [i've heard warnings against certain shipping companies] or do you just use regular post? which you think is the best? i've been to the ups site, and in order to calculate shipping costs, it requires the postal code of where the package is going, but i just want a general idea of how much it'll cost to ship within canada, or to the states.

also, i just got a paypal account, and i was wondering for sellers, which one do you prefer? personal or premier/business account?

thank you so much for any advice!

Does anyone know a really good easy to understand tutorial for knitting a cap like this one Keep in mind I've never knitt before, but don't have much use for a scarf in miami so I decided to start with something I'd actually use.

Also, any really useful tutorials for making:
tote bags
pillow cases
shirts
and cellphone cozies

I would really appreciate, like you couldn't believe!
I'll be having a lot of time on my hands soon.

I've been doing a fairly time-consuming project recently. But in-between, I made this for a couple of guys at my work. It's a St Patrick's Day themed tic-tac-toe game. Made with Sculpey clay and felt :)

I recently went on a decoupaging-spree, and ended up with a jewelry box and two picture frames. I also made some Barbie-shoe earrings that I saw on here a LONG time ago, and I patched some jeans.

Lots of somewhat big-ish pictures )

Tree Barbie

The god Apollo pursued the virginal Daphne through the forest, and she begged her father the river god to save her, so he changed her into a laurel tree. And then I made a Daphne Barbie.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Hot hot fake river action! )

This project is like two years old, but I still love it. I made a platform of paper wads covered in duct tape on cardboard, covered it with paper mache, and decorated it with my dad's old model railroading supplies. Daphne is covered with more paper mache, plus cheap fake greenery. And it's worth noting that, since this Barbie came with a painted-on bathing suit, I had to scrape the freaking thing off where it was going to show. It took two hours!

This set comes with an Apollo Ken, who goes on the opposite bank, but he sucks majorly. He's covered with massive gold glitter the size of his eyeballs, it's not pretty. I'm going to fix him up, though. Incidentally, is there a better way to make Ken dolls kneel than to tether his calf to his thigh with a complex system of jewelry wire? Because, yeah.
