Mar. 9th, 2006 06:38 amI know this has to be in the memories somewhere, but I couldn't find it for the life of me.
Does anyone know how to distress fabric? I have a hoodie that I wanted to look more old/vintage.
Thanks a lot. :)

Mar. 9th, 2006 08:28 amHello all
can anyone reccomend a site and/or sell me some plain black roving yarn for dreadmaking? Something with a really hairish look to it. I'll need enough to make a full wig. Preferable someone in the U.S. Please and thanks in advance.

Storage boxes?
Mar. 9th, 2006 09:58 am( I need crafty help! )
Question is though, has anyone made things like this? If so, what did you use and how much of an effort was it? Was it worth it, or should I just try to save up and buy the premade ones? I thought that maybe if I used something stiff and sturdy like matte board, and duct taped them together, then covered them with some of my fabric that I don't/can't use (some fabric is too delicate to sew with, or too thick, but could be used for this).
Anyone?

The Eyes have it
Mar. 9th, 2006 11:51 amdid this little painting last night, it is a watercolor and is 4 inches square. I kind of like how it turned out, still not sure what posessed me to do it :)

i used to be a big fan of fabric paint and cheap, $3.00 shirts from michaels or walmart. this stuff is from more than a year ago, save for the last two.
( shirts. )
p.s. this is also when we had a very awful camera.
i've been working on some new stuff, too. thanks for looking!

iron-on help part deux
Mar. 9th, 2006 12:48 pmhello crafty ladies and gents! one more question for you, based on this post.
but first, thanks to
dancin_sister_t; that website was great and i found exactly what i wanted!
unfortunately, it's extremely difficult to find an iron-on heart. i was thinking of getting the Heat n'Bond stuff suggested and just cutting a heart out of fabric.
my question is: what kind of fabric or medium do you folks suggest for this?? i looked all over and can't find an iron-on heart. obviously, i don't want it to fray or come off but i don't sew. at all.
EDIT: i should also mention that i've never stenciled before and i'm not really looking to start with this particular project!
please help!

Help with fake hair (kanekalon)
Mar. 9th, 2006 07:00 pmOkay, well, I bought a bunch of JUMBO BRAIN SUPER SILKY 100% KANEKALON fake hair to use in an art project.
This stuff is driving me crazy.
It's all messy and knotting up and blah blah blah.
ANYWAY.
I was wondering:
What is the best way of tying/attaching the hair to stuff?
I tried melting it, but it won't even melt! ARG.
I also tried doing a couple of types of knots (square, overhand, and that one where you loop it over and feed the end back through the loop)
I'm trying to attach all the hair across a wire frame, a sort of "hair-net" if you will.
Anyway, yeah.
Is it possible to melt it? or tie it so it won't detach? Or something??
(HERE IS A PICTURE SO YOU KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT SORT OF: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/robak/hairnet1.jpg so i am attaching the hair as a spot on the frame, and then stringing it across to various points, and knotting it on itself, etc)

Maybe not crafty?
Mar. 9th, 2006 09:32 pmThis may not be crafty enough, mods can delete it if it's not.
I'm looking for instructions on how to fold a bandana so it'll hang out of a back pocket. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about, there's a way to fold it so that you can hang it out of your pocket, it comes to a point at the end. I see a lot of "hardcore" kids wearing them, it's for a themed party tomorrow night. Thanks in advance <3.

how to paint shoes
I am in dire need of creativity help....i have had a 2hr lecture on matrix movie...and another 2 hr lecture on the philosopy behind it. Now I have a creative assignment to do..the topic: How would you describe the relationship between reality and illusion? What role does fiction play in complicating or dismantling these categories? relating to matrix. Do you crafty ladies out there have any ideas?
I thought I would like..use different mediums..like..take an old record..glue on a red and blue jelly bean....and now im stuck...any ideas guys?

Mar. 9th, 2006 11:41 pmMy very first brand spanking new journal. Who knew it was so much fun to make books! Please don't look too closely- this was my first attempt at bookbinding. I used this great asian inspired fabric that I had previously used for a tote bag. I loveee this fabric. Anyways, without further ado...
