I fell in love with this fabric.   The bag is this pattern which is sold on ReproDepot, but I bought at my Local Craft Store.. Woo hoo Crafty Planet!

I just finished this simple baby quilt/playmat for a childhood friend who's due to give birth any day now. (It's not a stop sign... it's a watermelon slice!)

Well, the hand quilting thread didn't break, but I won't ever use it in the machine again, it's just too heavy. So here's the dress I made for a little person's birthday.

okay, i know there are tutorials out there for dying yarn with kool-aid. Anyone know if it's possible to dye hemp the same way? Or should I use that Rit-dye stuff?

thanks :-)

I lost one of these really great earrings that I think I bought at American Eagle a few years ago. I was about to throw the lone earring out when it occurred to me to remove the hook and make a necklace out of it. So, I attached a leather cord and clasp and here it is:

inspired by a knit bag in the March 2006 issue of FRUiTS, i designed, knitted and fulled a cell phone cozy for my little, shiny red phone:

I have this gorgious dress with embroidery on it, and like it's only a few weeks only only been worn once, but the dam embroidery on it is coming loose, and unravleing. Is there some kind of like liquid I could put on it to seal the embroidery but not make the material stiff. It sucks, that always happens when I buy machine embroidered stuff. Same things with like beaded shirts. I have a brand new only worn once shir t that two yes two of the beeds have come off and several more are loose

Last Halloween, I made a black faux fur muff as part of my costume. This weekend, I went on a muff kick again, dug the one I had made out of my closet and realized that, if I'd line it with some warm fabric and fix the one major problem with it, it would be cute enough to wear as a really novel handwarmer come next fall. I have other, fleecey fabric to use as the lining. The one problem is that the furry material (5$ fun fur from Wal-Mart) sheds like crazy. It's very annoying. If I hold the muff for a few minutes, I get black furs all over me, and I'm sure the fabric will go totally bald after handling it a few times. So, fellow craftgrrls, my question is: is there any way I could seal the fabric together? Like, a sealant spray that would make it less likely to shed and fall apart? I'd be okay with some changes in the texture. And, if nothing like that exists, is there any better kind of fur-like material that won't cost a lot of money?

Thanks very much.

I don't think I can think of anything for this english project... I am in dire need of help

A few weeks ago I posted a boot painting tutorial and a english question/ craft idea/ topic that i needed help for :

"How would you describe the relationship between reality and illusion? What role does fiction play in complicating or dismantling these categories? Relating to the Matirx and presenting this in a creative fashion such as stenciling painting building, etc"

A nice person suggested I try to make a 3D imax virtual image thing..but I have googled and googled how to do it, and nothing shows up so I am almost ready to abandon this idea.

Does anyone have any other ideas for the project?

I have spent countless hours watching the matrix and taking notes..but I just can't think of a way to creatively portray it...and im hoping you crafty ladies might have some kind of idea.

Thanks

Sorry I never have any pictures to post in here. :( You guys have the best ideas though so if I ever accomplish any of the ideas you've given me, I'll post them! Now, here's the situation. My boyfriend and I built my rabbits a super deluxe condo. I used still tiles for the floor, it looks very nice and is super easy to clean up but I want to put mats in there because, since rabbits don't have pads on their feet like a dog, they slide around everywhere. I have a mat that I like a lot but it has no grip to it. My poor bun jumps off her shelf onto it [because at least she doesn't slip on the mat] and the mat slips and... yeah. No fun, so what can I do to add some grippiness to the mat and maybe make my own mats and add grip to them. Where could I find a grippy fabric like what you would find on slippers or the bottom of footy pajamas? Anyone have any other ideas?

edit : i love you guys.

I was inspired by this post here: http://community.livejournal.com/crochetcrochet/54722.html
So I decided to try some crocheted chokers of my own.

white and tan cotton choker )

I crocheted this choker out of Sugar N Cream cotton. It's about 1 1/4" wide. I went searching for beads on the Firemountain Gems website and I think this little fella might work well to hang from the center. http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=H152300NB Any thoughts?

Also, I did make a rainbow choker. It's out of Red Heart acrylic and ended up being a bit scratchy. I'm not sure how to soften it up. I'm thinking I prefer the cotton yarn for these. The texture looks nicer than acrylic and it wears more comfortably.

Finally, I made a choker out of my guild's colors. It's a girl's guild in the online game, World of Warcraft.

guild pride! )

This was made out of Carron's simply soft, so it's a lot more comfortable but I still wonder if cotton would look nicer texture-wise. I didn't see colors like this in the Sugar n Cream but I think they might have had a variegated purple. If I find a nice gold or yellow charm in the shape of a butterfly, our crest, I may try that instead.

I've been making some patchwork and log cabin totes lately, there's one more and a question behind the cut. )

I've been racking my brain trying to think of places to find what I want, but I've come up with nothing so far, so I thought I'd ask this and hopefully get some help.

I want to make a keychain of the Sims green plumbob, example picture at the bottom. But I can't find a suitable green plumbob thingy. I want it to be of decent size - not tiny - green, and translucent. I've tried searching for plumbobs, green beads, green diamond shapes, etc, without any luck.

Anyone have any ideas of what I could search for, or better yet, know any places online where I could buy something like this? Thanks muchly!

Hello again, ladies!

I'm working on another altered book project, currently. This one is for the same friend as the last one I did, but its a collaboration this time between myself and my best friend, for our mutual friend.

I started with a children's "board book." These are lovely to work with - the pages don't curl all to hell. Yay! :D Its a short little thing, made to illustrate the song "La Bikina," a Mexican folk song that this girl absolutely loves.

I've done two pages, so far, and the covers. Here's a sneak peek! )

The materials used inside the book are:

Acrylic craft paint
Cut paper
Elmers Glue
Confetti (paper and plastic)
Fake tattoo
Stickers
Ink jet printed things (on paper, of course)
Photocopies (the words - toner) transferred onto the pages with a Prisma blending marker
Torn book pages (older paper)

My question is: Considering the things I've used on the pages, would it hurt the pages to seal them with Mod Podge? I don't have anything else that I could use as a sealant... I just want it to all stay in place forever, and also I want to kinda unify everything. But I'm worried that it might make the inks/toners run/bleed, ruin the tattoo, and/or make the pages stick together, should the book be closed for a long while (on a shelf or something, once we give it to her.) Am I worrying for nothing? Should I just go ahead and use the Mod Podge on it? Is there something better I could probably use? Any help is appreciated - Thanks!! :D

I used The Rasterbator for an english project on the Holocaust (specifically, Night by Elie Wiesel). It looks so... taped! I've come to the craft girls to ask advice on how to finish it off some more, but something quick and cheap. I work after school and don't have much time, and it's due Friday. Also, I have to add quotes and whatnot, any ideas other than typing them and gluing them over the image in various spots?

I just made a community for Home Made Body Products. I didn't see any here on LJ, so I decided to make a place for all of interested to share ideas, recipes, experiences, where to get your supplies..etc.

If you want, come on over and check it out! There is nothing there yet, but I hope it will soon grow! :)

question about sewing machines..i'm looking to get a machine, but i am VERY broke. i know kids machines (button makers etc.) can be cheap and work really well, so i was wondering if anyone has used childrens sewing machines (there are a shit ton of barbie machines on ebay), and if they produce even semi-proffesional results? something that might look a little better than hand sewing, and won't break after one project, basically.
thanks.
