While I was visiting my girlfriend (the talented [livejournal.com profile] cheshcan) last week, I knitted a purse. It's a seed-stitch clutch made out of Moda Dea's Ticker Tape yarn, which is usually $9 a skein, but I found it for about $2/skein on sale. I recommend you do that, too, if you ever use it.

I used #13 straight needles and approximately 1.5 skeins in Sunset, and Chesh lent me a cute heart-shaped button. I knitted a 12" strip over 20 stitches (in seed stitch, as I mentioned :). For the triangular side panels, I came up with the following:

lengthy bit of pattern )

Since I freehanded the whole thing, it didn't come out perfectly, but I think I could make a second one that looks nicer/less lumpy, especially if I used a different kind of yarn. I'm an old hand at crochet, but I'm kind of new to knitting, so this is probably why it looks... odd. But there's the pattern if you'd like to try it! :)

Ok, I don't live near any fabric stores, only Walmart. I did however go to two different Jo-Ann's out of town last month. I have been looking for knit fabrics in good prints. I didn't find much, mostly solid colors or really kiddie prints. Plus they were $7.00 and up a yard.

So my question is... I see on eBay all these girls making these clothes with neon striped fabrics, cool floral prints (not the old lady ones, that I keep finding), skull fabric, etc. I just want to make myself some t-shirts, but I don't want to have to shell out $50.00 to make one, or I'll just buy one!

So where the hell do you find all these cool knit fabrics??? Can anyone tell me?? Please?? I've looked everywhere online.

I found this link ages ago. It's for making a scrapbook from a old LP cover...Or using the old record and turning it into a journal. I may use this tutorial for my mixed paper journal I asked about yesterday..good idea or no? or if I used one of my old library books I can just rip the book out and insert the type of paper I want, punch holes insert the rings and i'm done..right?haha..the last thing I would want to do is ruin a book by going with what I THINK is right-hence why i'm asking:)

FINALLY someone is having a girl baby, so I can break out the pink stuff!
If this was for an older kid I could embellish with buttons and more trim, as it is, I think the lace may be pushing it. It's a variation of a rag doll I made at Christmas, but in kittycat form.

Hi, I'm a new poster to this community, and I'm planning on posting the cell phone cozy I'm making once it's done. My current question is: should I insert a piece of cardboard or other hard material inside the fabric to make it stiffer? Or should vinyl be strong enough to be a decent case? I apologize about the text-only. Pictures will follow with the completed project :)

I'm new to this sort of thing (and I'm new to the whole LJ thing, so I hope I'm doing this right)...but I really like how this turned out. =) I used some scrap book paper I got at a craft store, and some things out of a magazine...

Hi Craftgrrls(guys)!

So I got a sewing machine for Christmas because I wanted to start sewing things! It's a Shark by Euro Pro x, I looked for a picture online but I can't find one that looks like mine. So I assure you that next time I post I'll post a picture of my little baby. It has one stitch (that I am aware of) and it's pretty plain. But oh so cute. Because it's pretty small!

I've just recently started playing around with it by hemming my way too long tae kwon do pants and I made anoter tote, but it's really sloppy and odd shaped.

I know totes are simply, but I am so proud of this one! And the fabric I got on sale an JoAnn's for $2 a yard. Someday, I'll expand my boundaries and get risky.

I was just checking out crafster today, OH MY!!

So, here's some pictures of my little bag and what the fabric looks like, and my doggy Prega because everyone here swoons over animals:)

I plan on working on my cousin's birthday gift this weekend. This includes a plush cupcake and a pair of earrings made out of our grandmother's charms. After a good polish, I'm sending her the hoops and sending my other cousin, her sister, the other pair once I finish them.

Hey guys, I just posted a few posts back asking about Fimo clay. Thanks for everyone's help! It helped me a lot. I just made my first beads and charms and I'm ready to bake them. Just a few more questions...hope you all don't mind!

I'm just worried about this toxic issue. How can I tell while I'm watching the beads bake to make sure they're not being overbaked? I have very few, and they're very small so do they still need to be baked at 265 degrees for 30 minutes? How can I tell after I take them out if they're overbaked/underbaked/perfect? What happens if I burn the clay? What can I do to eliminate the dangers of the toxic fumes?

Thanks in advance! Can't wait to bake these. :)

P.S. What can I apply to the finished, baked clay pieces to add some shine? I used to use clear nail polish but I would like something that is specifically meant for finished clay, but still look nice and shiny like the nail polish. Thanks!
