For Easter this year, we dyed our eggs using natural plant products. We used tumeric, red cabbage, yellow and red onion skins, spinach, and grape juice. This is what we started out with:

This is what we ended up with... )

i'm having a jewelry show at my house this coming sunday... so i've been a busy bee preparing for it!!!

clicky for some jewels... )

go to [livejournal.com profile] lindaleestudio if you're itching to see more of what I've been working on. I've been making TONS of stuff lately and I'm really hoping to get a good turn-out. Wish me luck!! I had a show like this in my home back in December, and I did pretty well. This time I'm really spreading the word a lot more since I know what to expect.

I am looking for a picture of the Chuck Norris doll someone made that I saw a on here awhile back. I searched, and went back, but can't find it now. :( Can the person who made it post pics again? Pretty please??

Just wanted to post a few more things I finished for the craft show I'll be doing at the end of this month. I'm excited, it'll be my first one and I got most everything packed and ready (except for some of the jewelry - the model I use is a good friend of mine who will also be helping me out at my booth).

the sketch and screen looked really nice but the print turned out otherwise. i should have left a margin around the text. the text is a computer font i printed, afterwhich i drew the koi in the background with pencil. printed on american apparel.

the word "infinity" was requested by my friend and i added her favorite ed hardy "inspired" koi in the background.

i finally finished the lining last week or so and here's a photo of the final product! *phew* i should have used a contrasting color for the "dividers" and the fabric is crooked because the print of the fabric makes it really obvious. should use a confusing floral pattern or plain fabric next time. :p

oh btw, thanks [livejournal.com profile] sundaytea for sharing this lovely polka-hearts fabric. :)

Ladies who know sewing machines:
If my thread is looping on the back of what I am sewing what is wrong? I was sewing the exact same thing yesterday and it was fine and now today it is a mess!

hopefully someone can help me :D let me know if this isn't allowed!

i have this really pretty parasol i bought at a thrift store. its one of those pin-up looking retro paper-ish sun umbrellas, with a flowery/asian-ish print. i'd really, really like to incorporate the parasol into my display, but i don't know how? i want it to be used, kind of like an umbrella over my jewelry (outdoor event, but we have a canopy) but i don't know what to use to make it stand or how to do that? any ideas ?

thanks in advance for any input. i'll try and take a picture of it if i can, but i just really need help on getting it set up onto my table. thanks so much in advance!

I love the silk bead necklaces that Urban Outfitters is carrying, but I'm not so into the $40 price tag. So,I tried making my own with wooden beads and vintage scarves.

Finally!

So my sewing machine junks out on me too much. I know it's time to start looking for a new machine. But, I also know that I want my seams to look better on what it is I make, seeing as I hope to sell my shirts and tunics in a brick and mortar store. Here's the question to the many crafters out there that I know are more experienced in the field than I am; whats the deal with sergers? I've never used one before. Complicated? Cost? What can/can I not use it for?

This hottie was made with Sugar n Cream and lined with an old bathing suit. I water tested it in the shower and it seems to hold up pretty well.

I can't wait till summer!
