Yay! I made a new bag. It is airplane themed. Remember those applique and zipper questions I asked a while ago? Well, ( here are the results. )

easy cheap jewellery displays
Apr. 22nd, 2006 09:54 amhey crafty chicas!
i just wanted to thank you all for the stellar advice you've given me in the past. you've helped out SO much, and now i am back yet again to pick your creative brains.
next month i am setting up a booth for my boutique at the toronto clothing show. i need some effective ways of (more or less) of commercially displaying jewellery, including:
what would YOU like to see done? what would make you stop and stare? big displays? lots of color? signs?
if i can't manage to create my own displays in time, then there's always the option of buying premade displays like ( these. )
if you have any resources online (ebay or otherwise), or know of stores located in the toronto area, please shoot me a line!
i am also trying to think up a cute way to package the jewellery that is unique and noticeable. right now i include logo buttons and little freeebies with each purchase, but i package everything in little ziploc-style baggies appropriate to the jewellery size. can you think of a better way on a baby budget? any info would help.
thanks guys! you are the bestttt.
xoxo,
'leigh

- necklaces
- bracelets
- pinback buttons
- earrings
- hair accessories (snap clips, alligator clips, barrettes, ponytail holders, hair slides)
- rings (will probably do a record bowl for this)
- wrist cuffs (unfortunately, not the kind that can be laid out flat)
what would YOU like to see done? what would make you stop and stare? big displays? lots of color? signs?

Hi there. I don't normally post on here but I have a question for you guys - I'm writing a paper for class about women who craft and are activists. Would any of you be willing to answer some questions for my paper?
If so you could email me at girlleastlikelyto @ yahoo. com (remove the spaces) or just comment here with your email address.
Thanks!

Apr. 22nd, 2006 02:17 pmLast night I ended up doing some errands with my mom instead of sitting down making jewelry like I wanted to. Well, when we were out I managed to find some things I really liked to make a bracelet. I made the bracelet last night right before bed, and although it's simple, I really like how it turned out! :)

Apr. 22nd, 2006 04:53 pmHey! I was at a craft sale today and picked up a big bag of ( these ) for 50 cents.
His name is Tweaky.
"oh my god, its going to eat your face" way
He's really quite harmless.
He's really quite harmless.
my sewing teacher mrs watt gave me a super duper old Nordic Husqvarna sewing machine. free. of. charge.
needless to say, i *love* it.
it's in perfect condition, except for the belt which is a tad cracked, but i'm just going to pay 5$ and replace it later this week. other than that it's a heavy duty machine and runs fantastic-ly.
so, here we have the pictures of clothing i've made recently... still working on some more items, and blahblah. I blew twenty-five dollars today at dollarama on miscellaneous ribbon, lace, beads, and bows.
*cough* i also JUST learnt TODAY that turning flash off on my camera makes everything look oh-so-better. yes, the camera i had for three years and was thinking of trashing because it took 'horrible photos.' hahaa. im stupid.

the definitive amineko tutorial,
Apr. 22nd, 2006 06:31 pmFIRST TIME POSTER ALERT!!
a little bit about me: i've been lurking here for absolutely ages and i'm happy to be making my first post now now now. :)
i'm from singapore and i think our yarn supplies here are very limited.. :( (rip off spo*light).
ANWWWW,
i finally finished my amineko, around last week but i've been lazing around to finally get it online.
i'm an absolute newbie to crochet and i only know the chain stitch and the single crochet, which btw, seems to be more than enough really. i'm also a diy learner as i know absolutely NO ONE who crochets left-handed. cheers to the many many online sites available with illustrated pictures, which in some ways, gets rid of the left-hand right-hand impediment.
so here's my amineko, name yet to be decided

crochet question!
Apr. 22nd, 2006 07:18 pmMe again, sorry. I've looked this up in several books and searched the memories, but nothing.
I'm pretty new to crochet and I'm making a scarf. Chains and single crochets going well, but I don't get how to do this:
work 1 sc tbl in the t-ch.
It's supposed to be done after having worked sc to the end of a row, but before ch 1 and turn. I understand the abbreviations and all, but through which back loop?? Help please, because I've been starting over again & again.

Apr. 22nd, 2006 07:30 pmI'm way too lazy to try taking photos of all the shirts I've altered with the short range lens I have right now for my DSLR. So instead I present you with cake crafts. I love baking weird things but not eating them so people get cool cakes for their birthday/whatever.

an sg guitar cake (brownie) I made for my friend george. Letters were really hard to frost so i got lazy. Does anyone know an easier way to frost letters and a really good recipe for frosting? A tube at safeway is like $4, fuck that. grr.

A (wood) burning question...
Apr. 22nd, 2006 11:21 pmhas anyone used a woodburning tool to imprint a picture from a laserjet (NOT an ink jet) printer, sort of as an iron on transfer, onto wood? Can this really be done?
TIA
TIA
