I have one of these bottles and want to stencil something on them.

Would acrylic paints work ? Any other tips? Thanks!

I bought these for a few cents each from the local op shop.

Cut for pics )

The material is fairly thick and stiff and the colours feel like they've been painted on. At the bottom it says "Design & Publication by HobbyTex Pty. Ltd. Sydney Australia Copyright Preshaded"

I think they're gorgeous and quite funky. Any ideas what I should do with them?

The other day I bought a new Bible. It's kind of an odd shape, so I didn't even try to find a case for it that would fit properly at the store (assuming I could even afford one). The Bible I bought was on sale and it was the only one left, so I didn't have much choice in the color.

My mom makes totes and sells them for fundraisers, so I asked her to make a Bible tote for me. In the abyss that is our basement, I found the perfect matching fabric! When I bought the Bible I wasn't too keen on the color (brown/black, though I know it works in many ways, is still kinda iffy for me), but with this fabric its totally fetch. XD

what is this "interfacing" of which i've heard so much? i think it's mentioned largely in connection with making bags. i just got a sewing machine, and i'm about to make my first bag -- but i'm afraid i'm missing out on something. explain please?

I just completed our niece's birthday gift. She turned 4, like 3 weeks ago. I'm such a procrastinator.
She is all the way across the country, so at least we didn't have to face her!

Quick question.

I made a wreath out of, you know, actual dried flowers. Problem is I'm worried about it falling apart. I considered applying a coat of acrylic sealant but had my reservations as to how well that would work. Anyone have any recommendations?

More pictures of other nonsense to come. :D

My neighbour died and my mother asked me to make something for her to put in the garden.
so this is what i came up with.
its totally not my style, but my mom likes it and i guess that's the important part.

Does anyone have any links to some free Apron patterns?

All Im coming up with are quilted aprons and poor links that dont really tell me anything!

I am a handsewer, so i do need some sort of pattern to go by, when machine sewing!

Thank you in advance!

Patchwork is great. I love using courdoroy, velvet-velour, and faux suede. Jean is always great, along with old hawaiin print shirt. I like to cover stained canvas bags with new interesting exteriors. Check it owwt....

I got a pile of clear CD cases from a friend. I checked the recycling code, they're #6. Polystyrene is what you use for shrinky dinks, right? So I should be able to melt these cases in the oven, too, with no fear of poisonous fumes or other dangers? Has anyone here tried this? I checked the memories, but couldn't find anything. If it's up there somewhere and I missed it, if you have a link or any advice, I'd appreciate it.

So I finally got my camera back from the Fuji hospital. It's only been there since, oh say, Christmas. Gah.

But now I can post pics of what I've been doing!

Also: bear with me. This is my first attempt at an lj cut. *excited*

I tried making another dress without a pattern for my baby girl. I am really pleased with this one. It turned out pretty much like I wanted. There was this dress in the fabric section at my local Wal-Mart. Every time I saw it, I thought it was cute. It was a display dress in the fabric section, but there wasn't a pattern attached to it. I think someone just took an existing tank top and added a skirt to it. I kept looking at it and figured I could make it. Luckily I found some knit material in the $1 a yard bin and a print that would match (also $1 a yard). So I tried it and this is what I got:
