I finally took pictures of the crystal octopus necklace I made a few days ago. I accented the eyes with flat back Swarovski crystals and constructed the chain from gold plated wire and different shapes and sizes of Swarovski crystal beads (All crystal were done in the color crystal AB):

I have this crochet pattern and I'm just not getting the stitch explanation and it's really bothering me. The explanation goes as follows: start with a slip knot, ch 2, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops - 1 single chrochet with its own chain at bottom. Work next stitch under loops of that chain. Insert hook under 2 loops at bottom of the previous stitch, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops. Now I get it as far as inserting the hook in the 2nd chain, but then I wonder, which loop do I draw up? And when I draw up a loop, I end up with 2 loops on the hook at the end of the stitch and 1 loop just keeps being added with every stitch and that just doesn't seem right. If anyone could shed any light on this it'd be appreciated 'cause it's making me feel stupid. :)

Hi all
I made a wallet from a tutorial found at crafster but I used snaps instead of velcro.
It didn't really work. The cards fit in the slots when its open and all but it doesn't close right.
When I make more I'll make them longer so I can use snaps. They really are cute. See...

Before I go attacking it with all kinds of crazy stuff, what is the best way to remove snaps?
And can I reuse them when I'm done? And will the fabric be all crappy?
Thanks in advance.

I've been seeing quite a few people making their own necklaces. Here are some examples.

I was wondering what materials they used to make and color them and where theyve been getting the material.

Thanks =]

Im making a hand bag for my prom and it involves some bead work. Before I add the beads and such it sayd break yarn. Ive been knitting for awhile and I have never seen that before. Is it the same as binding off or is it different? If so how do i go about doing it?

Long time lurker and big time admirer of all of your wonderful projects!

Are there any New Yorkers out there? I'm looking for some cheap craft supply stores, more specifically places that sell scrapbooking supplies. Let me know if you have any ideas - in NYC.

Is there a Michael's? A.C. Moore? Anything? I did some searching, couldn't find anything.

I'm posting some of my small projects so this isn't text only.

okay, i'm not a smoker but my friend is and i'm decorating a cigarette case to give as a gift. i know it's safe to use modge podge and a clear topcoat for images pasted on the outside of the case, but is it safe to use on the inside? does anyone know if it would tamper with cigarettes stored inside at all, or possibly be toxic?

any advice is welcome. thanks!
