Hey again, everyone. If you remember, I made a post about making a Pete Wentz hoodie for my friend's 18th birthday. Well, I got almost all of the supplies today (Textile medium, purple acrylic paint, stuff to make the screen) but I couldn't, for the life of me, find a plain grey hoodie. I couldn't find any hoodies at all because it's too close to summer!

Does anyone know where I can get just a plain grey hoodie and sweatshirt fabric (because I think I'm going to have problems with that, too.)? It would be greatly appreciated!

edit: Found the hoodie at American Apparel and sweatshirt material on the JoAnne's website (which is going to have to be dyed because all they have is white and black)

These were so fun to make.. I think I will make more. They are made with super sculpey which I sculpted, baked, sanded, painted and glazed twice. They are securely attached to the hair clips with e-6000. I nearly glued my fingers in the process!

Are these something any of you would wear? I tried them out in my hair and I think they look cute and not too large.. but I'm curious about what some of you might think. Thanks!

i've been in search for a new "thing" because i'm one of those crafters that starts a new craft, goes all out, then finds a new one.  i recently decided i wanted to try making buttons/pins.  i looked in the memories and there were a bunch on button makers but lets just say i became veryyy overwhelmed.  there were so many different kinds for different types i almost wanted to just give up.

to my point...

i was hoping you guys could help me.  what is the best button maker for STARTERS for simple buttoms.  nothing special just something that will get the job done until i see if it's for me.  the simplier the better for this gal.

kinda like these..you know those old school buttons...those

i'm thinking of selling some of the crafts that i had made, and wondering will it be better to sell it on websites like esty or ebay, or will it be better to sell them on my own website? any suggestions?

A couple people suggested that they would prefer the cherry earrings I made as hair clips, so I made a lucky cherry bobby pin:

I also made some more button bobby pins:

What do you think?

Well. I am supposed to be cleaning my room, so instead I shall play on eLJay. First time poster, long time lurker blah blah blah. I plan to be a crafty little bugger this summer, now that classes are out and such, so hopefully I'll be able to post often with fun little doodads and hoohahs!

But here are a few things I've finished recently, hope you enjoy!

Coasters, mugs, and a Monster Book of Monsters. (Not to mention a monster load of pictures yukyuk!! No really. I mean it. There's a lot.) )

....First all the necessaries. I am a long time...and I mean long time lurker..I tend to leave messages, but have never posted anything. Also I was to apologize if I posted this in the wrong spot...but I know there is a lot of knowledge in here :) And I have no idea how to add picture at this point, so I too apologize for this.

Ok here is the situation....We (meaning my husband and I) a home a couple years ago. I love love love it, and we have been making remodels and what not the whole time. Well we are that the kitchen. we have all new appliances and the counters are brand new. We were going to replace the cupboards, but the structures are in great shape and I could not see buying new just for a different color, when nothing is wrong with these. So this is where I turn here for advice.

The cupboards are not wood...it is made out of a composite materials.....MDF...something like that. Anyway, there is a thin paper material over it, to make it look like *real wood.* I would love love to have distressed cream colored cabinets and I would like to know what to use to create my dream...what to make it stick, what paint to use and how to seal it....cause it's a well loved and used kitchen ( I love to cook)

Thank you so much in advance and I appreciate all info given:)

can i ask you all a quick question?
i was wondering if you think these fabrics are okay for a baby quilt:

these are all the fabrics i have on hand and i am SO itching to make a baby quilt
because i am stuck in the attic because it has the only working air conditioner.
the only options i have up in the attic is to be on the computer or cut fabric
and i decided a baby quilt would be fun.

the quilt would be 5x5" squares with a 3" border in the light green/blue color on the vine fabric.

what do you think?
i would prefer not to make a traditional pink/blue quilt
and i was wondering if these colors would be likeable for a baby.
in my opinion, i would certainly buy these colors for my baby
because they are some of my FAVORITE!

thank you everyone. :)

When embroidering (is that even a word?), what's a good way to fill in space? I tried just doing lines but it looks really bad.

Thank you in advance!

I want to make this skull and crossbones tie for my boyfriend Read more... )

So I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this. I've looked for fabric but I can't find anything where the skull wouldn't be repeated all over the tie. So just sewing the tie from appropriate fabric seems out. My other two options seem to be buying a black tie and stitching it on or painting it on. I want it to look nice, and not overly DIY, so I'm hesitant to use paint, but I'm not entirly sure if I could get the pieces cut out to embroider it on. My sewing skills are moderate at best, but I really think there's got to be a way to do this. Maybe it's a patch? Hard to tell... As a side note my back-up plan if the skull and crossbones is too intricate is to do an alkaline trio heart instead.

Suggestions? Ideas? Help???

Thanks in advance,
Stephanie

Okay so I'm a bit new here but all you people seem so creative and helpful.. so i thought i'd ask for a little help with my room. I'm about to paint it and this is the idea that I have.. please tell me if you like it, and what you think you'd change or add to make it look even better.

I want 2 walls to be a deep pink.. kindda maroonish is what im thinking but more pinkish. Then the other 2 walls will be a light pink. So like, dark pink, then light pink, then dark pink, then light pink. Like they wont be touching the wall with the same color is what im trying to say.. lol.

Okay so my carpet is 2 blue colors so i want to paint my 2 doors blue. But I think i'm gonna put diagnal lines of the 2 blues on the doors. My doors are kindda right next to one another so i was thinking put the diagnal lines goning opposite on each door. Like one the lines are going up on the left and the other they are going up on the right. Making a V.. kindda.. make sense?

All my furniture is wood.. and none of it matches.. SO.. I was thinking for my small dresser.. and my little night stand thing I am going to paint one of them light pink and the other one the darker pink.. the two wall colors. But on both of them on the front of the drawers that pull out.. i want to put some kind of design that mixes the two pinks together. Maybe stars, but have them turned and all connected to one another so there is no plain space.. make sense? (lol i'm sorry if all this is complicated.. it's hard for me to explain all this)

Okay I also have one BIG dresser desk dealio. I was thinking paint that and my mirror frame camo design. Like greens and browns.. well everyone knows what camo is so i dont have to explain that one. And I'm going to get green little.. whatever those things are called. The things that go like over and around your windows.

So thats all i got. what do ya'll think? I know it may seem weird but keep in mind I'm 17 with a very original sense of style. lol. Ohh and i have NO idea what to do with the trim that goes around the walls at the bottom... any ideas for that?

Vinyl

I am looking to buy some vinyl to make a medium sized shoulder bag. I want it to be kind of stiff as this bag is going to have an interesting structure.

Anyway, I'm looking on eBay and I'm seeing quite a few listings for "stretch" vinyl. Do you guys think that will work for a bag that looks like this?:
