I just got this new fabric, but have NO idea what to do with it. It was just too beautiful to pass up. Any ideas? They would be MUCH appreciated. Warning, the pic is huge....

Does anyone ever wander around Hobby Lobby, Michaels, WalMart (craft part, or course =)), or Joannes and think that other shoppers are from this community?

Or that just me?

Just so that this isn't text only, here's a bag I made.

I've been drawing inspiration from this community for a few months now, you've all created the most amazing things! This is my first post and my first project. I finally got my act together enough to make something last week and this is what I came up with.

blue bag and wallet )

A little on the image-heavy side, sorry. Also, I borrowed this camera and can't seem to take a decent picture with it, my apologies!
Any and all feedback would be very much appreciated.

I turned an old skirt into a dress... I like it better this way. :] My mom was kind of sad though because she liked borrowing it when it was a skirt, and the dress isn't her 'style.'

I've been posting and crafting like crazy lately. Here are a few hats I've made. 2 beanies and a rasta type hat. Let me know what you think! once again, big pictures. i'm computer illiterate. Sorry!

I've hopefully fixed this and it should be okay now! Thanks for the comments!

I like to update old furniture from time to time but cannot stand the nasty smell that sometimes come with it. I swear I have heard the same from others on here so I thought I would share a little tip I found on www.cheapskatemonthly.com. (No comments about how un-cool I am for loving that website)

okay so i have been working on making handbags. i have decided the only way for me to make something of myself is to suck up buy the insurance for the bizarres that they have on the military bases here in germany. i am a little low on earrings inventory and a few other things, so that is what i am working on. however i want a NEW NAME for my items.
i will be using retro fonts to give you an idea. since my purses are mainly recycled fabrics....and i am always recycling something within my crafts. so these are just a few names i came up with...

Tamos handbags and trinkets or Creations
Cender Rella ( so i dont have trademark issues) handbags and trinkets or Creations

so what is your favorite???

Hey guys, I really need some help with my sewing machine! I've been using my mom's sewing machine for a long time, but I'm not really an expert with troubleshooting and stuff. Well I just got my own sewing machine, it's sort of a vintage one - a Singer 247 from the 70's. Everything works great but there is one problem - the spot where the string wraps around a knob that adjusts the tension - that thing is like too tight. So every time I try to use it, the string just breaks. After wrapping it around that thing, if you just pull on it, it takes a lot of effort to pull it through... even if the tension is set to 0. I think somehow it got messed up and is exerting way too much force. I tried to oil it (I dunno why) but I don't think that helped. Is there some way to fix this or does it need a new part? Thanks!!

X-posted, sorry!

Just curious, is there anyone else in this community from the uk? :)

I need a(n easy?) pattern for a zip up hoodie that will fit nice and snug.
Where could I find a pattern like this, or one that is EASILY alterable to be so?
(It's for a boy, if it matters any.)
Thanks.

okay mods, i am sorry for all the craft posts today! but this group is WUNDERBAR! and is always helpful!

first of all, thanks for people that are VOTING in the poll- it IS HELPING me TONS. my brain is so scrambled right now, with trying to hopefully launch on something i really sort have been avoiding. however with encouragement from friends and co LJers i am stepping off the cliff without knowing what parachute i have! so many thanks! and cross your fingers for my hopeful spring debute.

back to why i am posting!

since i have been drafting handbag designs most of the day. i am finding that the large roll of freezer paper that you can get at the store is working wonders for drafting and cutting patterns. i wanted to pass this along, if you have never used it. i have been using parchment paper, but could never get it in the large size that i needed. i also have used paper bags, and cardboard ( which was helpful when i was doing bumper pads for a crib), however i am finding that i really really like the freezer paper. i sketch out on the non waxed side of the paper. i find that the wax side against the fabric is really helpful, since it does not "snag".

i also have tons and tons of 70ish belt buckle endings that were given to me this past january. i would like to use them in the design of the handbags, however i am having issues. they dont have the little metal piece in the center that "goes into the hole", any suggestions on what i can do? i have tried to find them in the local " hardware " stores we have here in germany and the limited craft places. no luck.

other thing, i am also in search of magnet snap closures. CHEAP! i looked at JOanns online and a few other places, but dont like the prices. anyone know a good resource?

My boyfriend's birthday is August 10th, which makes him a Leo. So for his birthday, I made him something lionish.

My inspiration was this little fella-
