Alright, so I'm all on a designer kick lately and have decided to start putting together some cool furniture for my room. One of the things I've been thinking about is a modern-esque table - I'd like to create a plexiglass or acrylic table made of two sheets of acrylic/plexiglass with beads in between them. On top of the top piece of glass, i'd like to frost a design using stencils and glass frosting spray.

My questions are:

1. Will spray frosting work on acrylic/plexiglass?

2. Anyone know a good brand of glass frosting spray?

2. Anyone know if any home improvement/hardware stores sell acrylic/plexiglass?

3. Is there a glue that dries absolutely clear that I can use to keep the beads in place between the two sheets of acrylic/plexiglass?

I know, I know - I'm a goober but before I start shelling out the bucks, I'd like to get some opinions. I appreciate it mucho mucho much. ♥

Short row shaping means that this is the easiest hat to make, ever. I finished this in a day, knitting at work(receptionist=lots of downtime). It is very big though, so I'm going to have to find someone with a big head to pass it off on in mid-summer;)

Funky hair and bra straps are to be blamed on the fact that I just woke up, and was up rather late last night.

I haven't posted a lot of artwork lately, since I've been working on my little secret project.

Didn't want to post anything until I at least got 1 completed. They say you suffer for your art, and boy is that true.

This project made me:

Break out in hives from head to toe.
Swollen hands.
Swollen eyes (right now :/).
Sneeze/sinus problems.
Nausea (right now :/).
Dizziness.

But it was sooooo worth it. I'm just not allowed to play with them next year :/

Surprise! )

Okay, I was asked a little while ago to do a tutorial on the skirt bag.

I finally got around to it this morning. I've never done one of these before so hopefully it makes sense and is usable. Please forgive the crude drawings. Comments and questions are welcome.

Don't forget to post your bags if/when you make one, I'd LOVE to see them!

This may come off nasty but I'd like to know if I'm alone on this...I'll probably regret posting this.

There seems to be a lot of posts recently of the "How much do I price my stuff for sales?' "Is this a good price for my goods?" (which used to not be allowed and seems to be allowed again) "I want to sell something like this, how do I make it?" "How do I do such-and-such because someone is paying me to do it..." and other questions that are not as much about crafts but about the buisness of selling and marketing crafts.

Now, I want to help out a crafter as much as the next person, I enjoy giving feedback, but I'm not that interested in helping people make money. This is a high traffic community and  I feel like many of the questions could be figured out with some entrepreneurial research and googling and trial and error (skills needed if you plan to sell on any scale) and the other half (like questions about setting up stores, hosting images) might be better served by a community about craft sales ( [profile] crafty_bizness comes to mind, there must be more ).

Am I just being unsupportive? Should I just skim more  and read less? Or is this something other people would like the mods to think about?

Okay. I've been looking into making the marble magnets for my friends for upcoming birthdays and etc. I understand how to make them, and I have all of my supplies except for the magnets.

I was wondering, for those of you who have made these little things, where do you get your magnets from?
I'm going to be looking for 1/2" Circle Magnets.

Thank you to anyone who may have a suggestion. I just didn't want to go out running all over with these silly gas prices today just to be let down when places didn't have what I needed.

Last year, I posted a photo of this silver guitar pick to this community. Since then, I and other guitarists have decided that silver art picks rock so much that I've made a bunch of them and will be showing them at a guitar show later this month. The positive feedback I got from this community helped as well, and I thank you all for the daily inspiration to follow my crafting dreams.

Enneagram (matte finish)

8 more of my favorite picks )

Now for the questions:

- Regarding photos for my website, what do you like better: the guitar fret background or the celestial fabric with/without the color partially removed?

- It's easier to get a good photo of the matte finish than the mirror finish. Any tips for the mirror finish?

- Has anyone here ever sold things at a guitar show, and if so do you have any tips?

Thanks!

Hi everyone!! I am a long time lurker here, so I'm crawling out of the shadows to intorduce myself.
My name is Kacie, I'm 19, I live in Athens, GA, and my fave crafts include beading, polymer clay, crochet, and knitting.

I have a really desperate question. I am doing a sweater swap with my friends, and I chose to make the Jolly Roger sweater out of Happy Hooker S&B. The only problem is the pattern calls for 10 skeins of Lamb's Pride Superwash--Worsted (by Brown Sheep) and that stuff is incredibly expensive. Does anyone know what I could possibly substitute that is high qualtiy but less than $10 a ball or a good website to buy from that I could find it cheaper? I have found it in some places, but not the colors/quantites I want/need. (I'm doing the base in brown and skull in an earthy green). I would love any suggestions, please.

And so without further ado, here are some wire dread coils I threw together. I was inspired by a song off of Stadium Arcadium called "Wet Sand."
The line goes--
I saw you there so unaware; those hummingbirds all in your hair )

hope you enjoyed, and thanks in advance for any help!

Oh gosh, this is my first post here, I hope to make many more though :). I'm a 19 year old college student who has a part time job at Michael's Crafts so I'm surrounded by crafty things.

So, I made myself an iPod case. This morning I tried shoving my iPod mini into an Orbit gum box, but it was just a bit too big to fit. So I figured why not make my own Orbit-box-ish iPod case?

So, what do you think?

I'm going on a trip at the end of the month and I have a quick question for you all.

1. I'm flying out of Phoenix Sky Harbor and I was wondering if anyone has been pulled aside by the TSA for having knitting needles? Same with LaGuardia in New York. I'm just really paranoid about this because I was pulled over when I was in 4th grade because some lovely person wanted to scare the crap out of a ten year old (I was scared already because of September 11th) who they thought had a bomb in her stuffed animal... In reality, it was a gameboy behind the stuffed animal.

My friend was also wondering the same thing about Tampa International Airport in Florida.

I'm going to bring a print out from the TSA website, but I'm too shy to show it to them anyways...
