so, i'm getting married in september, and we've been doing pretty much everything ourselves, except for my gown, his tux, and my maid of honor and my bouquet. i think that's it for what we're not doing.

i've made my tiara. i haven't made my veil yet, i'm waiting until after my first fitting (this friday) b/c she'll have me try on all sorts, and i'll decide what length will look best on me after me testing out the ones that she wants to sell me! haha.

ANYWAYS....

this is my first tiara, 2nd try. the first try, i did it a quarter of the way, and decided to tear it apart.
i can't find headbands that are silver anywhere around my area (kc, ks), so i went with the hobby lobby hairband, it had that comb thing all the way through, but i took that apart and put it at the ends. i figured that since my hair is black, you probably could hardly see the black headband anyway.

3 different sizes of freshwater pearls and 4mm swarovski crystals, and a 8mm at the 2 ends

so, on to the pictures!!!! sorry they're kind of crappy, the pearls and the crystals are hard to take pictures of, even with the macro mode.

i know, there's a watermark, but i'm not selling this [obviously, if i'm wearing this for my wedding], i didn't know what else to "watermark" it with. :\

Hi I'm Rachel and I'm 19. I've never made anything before but I want to get involved in all this craftyness. Anyway what are some easy projects to get me in the swing of things? Also what can I do with old movie tickets?

hello all, does anybody know the proper name for t-shirt kinda fabric? i've searched for ages online but they all have crazy names and i have no idea what they mean in terms of REAL THINGS. what sort of terms would i be looking for? i'm particularly after some of the thinner stretchy type material, like girly tshirts are made of, rather than the thicker stuff blokes ones are made from.
arrgh i hope this makes sense! and thanks in advance for help :)

I'm refurbishing an old desk, built from some type of dark wood, perhaps cherry or something, and have already sanded it down completely, stripping the wood completely. im going to stain it, but is there something im missing that i should do in between these steps? thanks!

I have a quick question. I have a wooden box that I've painted over with a base color, and then painted some designs on in another color, all in acrylic paints. I was looking to apply a few layers of Mod Podge to seal it and make it smooth and shiny, but I'm wondering if the Mod Podge will smudge the paint at all?

Anyone know of a good pattern for a cabbie/newsboy hat? Online or at the store, doesn't really matter. I'd prefer something cheap of course! Also, I have no means of buying something online. I'd have to be able to find it in a store.

I know that someone was asking how Sculpy holds up over time and so I thought I would share this fella with you all. I made this dragon out of sculpy about 20 years ago and he is still looking fine I think. The toe nails were made out of the ends of tooth picks and the scales were made with the end of this cool pen (wish I still had it lol)

I just got into making jewelery with beads and stuff and I was wondering if any of you knew of a site that was good for any nice beads? Maybe in big quantities and kind of cheap?
let me know!

I've been a part of this place for ages put I don't think I've ever posted anything. And then I was sitting in my room last night and suddenly thought I had a craft right above me I'd had for ages and thought I could post up. Light Decoration made from CD's.

Has anyone ever made a cameo locket before?

I know these ones pictured are exquisite and QUITE out of my range of expertise. But could it be possible to make a cameo using Sculpey, etc?

Do any of you crafty ladies know where I can find a tutorial on how to make one?

Any comments, suggestions, or ideas are much appreciated!

UPDATE: I found one tutorial online at http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_faux_other/article/0,,HGTV_3401_1373583,00.html

Sorry in advance for this being text-only, but I love little metal-framed handbags but wouldn't know where to start on making one. Has anybody ever made one, and what was the level of difficulty on it?
Thanks for any tips or help.

Also! Another question: my aunt gave me one of those tacky bags with huge dangly sequins hanging off of it..the sequins are pretty brown. What could i use em for?
Thanks again.

Hi everyone, I've looked through the memories, and saved a load of stuff to my own! =) I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy on the internet/LJ (really cheap) ...
- small plastic cameos
- chains
- lockets for photos (without a "cover", sorry, I don't know what they're called)
These are all for charm bracelets, I already know where to get the charms =)
I don't really want to have to rely on Ebay or car boot sales :/
Thanks for any replies!

I have some marbles that I would like to turn into pendants, they are the full circle ones, not like the ones that are used for marble magnets. Like...marbles that you play marbles with, lol. Does anyone know of anything that I can use as a 'topper' that will make them into pendants? Any help would be appreciated forever. :0)

I've googled my brains out and have instructions.  I thought I'd ask here too.

For those of you who have made fairy wings, do you have any tips or things to try before I begin?  I don't need any "how-to"s....  I need more of a good spattering of "I wish I knew this before I made my fairy wings".

Any takers?  Thanks!

So I finally finnished my first tote bag. But just my luck, my batteries in my digi cam are dead. Go figure. Either way, it's done and big enough for a binder and some personal items. Super cute with pastel graphic floral print with a light yellow lining.

Then I got even more creative and made my first ever check book cover. White with a red and green native american looking pattern. All I had for a template was my crap plastic cover I got from the bank with my checks. It came out so cute.

I will try to have photos tomorrow for you all. I just thought I would let you know I'm still around and finally got something finnished.

Yay for me!

two quick questions....

1) i'm redecorating my room, and i was wondering besides clay if anyone knew of any nifty ideas for bowls? i will need alot to store things like keys and rings and bracelets, and i dont want them to be boring so... any inspiration?

2) I recently went to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. While I was there, I visited Vineyard Haven (Tisbury). And, anyone who has been there knows that they have great shopping. I went to a store named Mix. Now, on my visit, I was so awed that I couldnt even begin to wrap my head around making any of the crafts there. Also, they don't have a website, but they describe themselves as "a vintage store," though there are ALOT of cute crafts. My question... does anyone know any items from this store that can be made at home? or other stores similar to this with websites?

any help would be greatly appriciated.
