I'm playing around with zippers and I did these up tonight. They're pretty simple, but I'm trying to get a feel for sewing on the zippers and the proper size of the pouches.

hey everyone, i'm grace, somewhat new to sewing, and attempting to make a really simple dress.
having a little trouble with the pattern and certain termanology.

it's a 'simplicity' pattern, so i assure you it's not above my level. there are just certain things that i'm insanely confused about. for example, there are circles that have the size i'm using in the middle of them. these circles i think are supposed to hold... pins? and the triangles where you pivot out while cutting, i forget exactly what they're for (haha i know this is retarded)... i've been to your memories page, and had no luck finding a website that would work as a "how to" with reading patterns, and understanding what they mean.

i just assume someone on here would know where to find a website that would help me out. or an easy answer to those problems along with any other helpful advice, that would be wonderful!

i know my question is lame, but it'd really help me out a lot and i figured i'd give it a go!

thanks so much in advance.

It's about time I posted stuff.  It's my first time so be gentle...

In the past year a lot of my friends have had babies, I've been pumping these suckers out like a sweatshop kid

I learned how to bind books last summer,

I hope this worked the way I wanted with the pictures behind the cut...

They have Swaravski(sp?) crystals, and are real sparkly in the light.
These pictures don't do them justice.

Does anyone else see these as just cool to say you have, :)

Everything else in the world has LEDs in it, why not knitting needles and crochet hooks? MAKE mag is highlighting some LED illuminated knitting supplies. I still don't understand the appeal of knitting. Do people actually wear the crap that they knit/crochet or is it simply a hobby to give their hands more carpal tunnel. Regardless, no more worries about having that pesky light on when trying to knit. These LED knitting needles and crochet hooks can illuminate the work area so you can accurately make those scarfs that nobody will wear or care about. Prices hover around the $40 range for a set.

Hi =) I am 21 weeks and 5 days pregnant and we just found out we are having a girl! Well i really want to put bows in my daughters hair, but they seem really expensive online... If any one thinks they might be able to figure out how to make the bows and then explain to me how, that would be really neat =) The wording below is some of the info i was able to find online. If any one takes this challenge, thank you =) If not, thats okay too xP

So I have this old, old towel that I don't want to get rid of. I've had it for forever, and it has my name embroidered (did I spell that right?) on it, but it's falling apart. Any ideas of what I can do with this? I was thinking of making a hammock/sleep sack for my ferrets, but if they get their nails caught in it when I'm not home, they could get seriously hurt. Any other ideas?

I want to make a quilt for my mother. Materials to be used are old napkins from my grandmother's estate. What I want to do is take old love letters that my grandfather wrote to my grandmother and transfer them onto the fabric. Any suggestions on the best method for this? Any particular transfer paper that you find to be most effective?

Also, these napkins are all white, some are linen, some are damask. For the napkins not being used to have the letters transferred, I wanted to dye them. Any suggestions for good dyes? Colors are to be bright and cheerful, in varying shades of yellow and orange, maybe some blue thrown in as a good contrast.

I was poking around on the Urban Outfitters site and thought that people who sell their jewelry I might be interested in the neck-shaped necklace stands that they have now.

Sorry if this is off topic, and, if so, feel free to delete!

I am looking for two inexpensive lampshades to replace one that broke.  I was wondering if anyone has ever tried spray painting a plain white shade? If so, did the paint stick and not look bad?  As well do you think that possibly dipping the whole shade in dye might work?  Thanks ahead of time for your help and for reading too!

I'm making a costume with a lot of ruffles on it. A looot. The dress I have in my icon is similar, except I'm needing even more ruffles. The problem? I managed to completely lose the instructions for my ruffler attachment, and have no clue how the hell to get it on my machine or how it works! -_- I don't want to go through the hell that is making about 5 yards of pingathered ruffles again, and Google is only turning up links to eBay about buying new rufflers. Are there any good websites/tips/etc for figuring out how to put on Pfaff sewing machine attachments, particularly rufflers? Or does anybody know a quicker way of making lots and lots of ruffles from strips of fabric? Ruffle trim premade isn't quite an option since I need to match some fabric.

A query..

does anyone have any resources or ideas where I could get materials and instructions on how to make a lacing panel, like what you'd find on a corset?

making an attempt at a psuedo corset top.

I'm trying to sew fabric that is %86 nylon %14 spandex. It was orginally a slip/night gown but I'm trying to make it into a top.

The problem is when I try to sew it with my sewing machine it doesn't allow the bobbin thread to catch with the needle thread, so no stitches are created.

I know my sewing machine is fine because I can sew other fabrics with it, does anyone know what is going wrong with this particular fabric? Do I need to do something special to sew it?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Put it in a glass frame?? Hang on like a curtain rod? I dunno. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments or ideas? Anything would help! THANKS!
