So I'm in a cast on my left hand and have this crazy urge to do something crafty. Keep in mind that I can't use the fingers on my left hand so I need some 1 handed crafts that I could do.
Any ideas?

Hey guys I was wondering if you know some good quality clay I could use to make jewlery? Mine just dries so fast the the jewlery cracks before I can mold it and I literally endup wasting half of it plus I have to file it down to make it smooth. So if you could tell me what kind of clay you guys use & how you get it so smooth that would be very appreciated!

Thank you!

I want to learn how to do the brick stitch and other stitches like it. I have an abundance of seed beads and I'd like to actually make something nice with them. The problem is that I can't follow directions very well, I get confused and over complicate everything and blah. Does anyone have a tutorial with pictures for those methods of beading? I didn't see what I was looking for in the memories. Thanks!

I'm currently researching metal engraving.. One of my good friend's birthdays is coming up and I need to find a really nice whiskey flask and engrave one of my designs on it. I have no idea where to begin. What would you want, an 8oz? Less? More? What's easy to carry around? Plus there are standard shapes and round shapes. Some even have compasses in them, which I find really funny :) I never know where I am when I'm drunk either.

All I know is I have two weeks to create something amazing. Any ideas? Maybe I should just learn how to engrave myself.

I made some pencil cases. I have a bunch more cut out, ready to sewn, but I just haven't had the time lately to do it. Most of these are made with a combination of new & vintage fabric. I have a whole sack full of vintage scraps & these pencil cases are the perfect way to use them up.

maybe this isnt for this community, but i just opened an etsy store and im really confused about paypal/how to accept personal checks/all the money stuff. i have a paypal account, i am waiting to get verified, and i am also confused about shipping.
should i go to and see how much it is to ship my stuff at a ups sender/shipper/whatev?
i work at a pharmacy literally right next to the ups counter so i could do that easily.
everything i make will be under 1lb (at least for now) so im guessing one rate is good for all of my items
pwease any help or recommendations for a comm i can ask, anything!
thank you!!
(ive got crafts coming soon!)

Hey, I finally finished the ds case for my brother now I just need to decorate it. Any ideas?

It's kind of crooked but it's the first thing I've ever sewn and i did it by hand so I'm pretty proud of it.

Hmm, so I've been lurking around for a while and I must say, I really love this community!

Because y'alls seem so helpful, would you mind helping me out? I'm planning on doing some crafty-ness before school starts (ah! a little more than two weeks!), but I'm kind of crafted-out. I'd really like to make some stuff for school. I've already made a pencil case (yay for this tutorial) as well as decorated my notebooks and binders, etc,so I'm not really sure what else to make. I've looked in the memory section but couldn't really find anything that I felt like making. Ideas would be extremely helpful and appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would post some of my recent creations, but alas! I do not have a camera right now. I hope you don't mind.

curtains

I just got the best fabric ever for kitchen curtains off eBay. I don't have a picture, but it's a cream background with little pink and yellow cupcakes on it. Fantastic! But I'm not really sure what kind of curtains I want. Our kitchen is very small, so we have one standard sized window, one tiny window over the sink, and I may want a matching curtain for the window in the back door, since we're painting that area to match the kitchen. That means three completely different sized windows. The back door, and the larger window currently have plastic mini-blinds, and the smaller window just has a little valance type thing. Also, my current decorating tastes run between retro/mod and cottagey shabby-chic with lots of color, and I'm not really sure what I want for curtains. Ruffly? Tabbed? Just a valance over the blinds, or cafe curtains?

I was curious if anyone has any links to tutorials, or even decorating sites that have cool curtain ideas that I could copy? I just have to use this fabric! If there's extra, I think I may make a retro ruffly apron too (pattern/tutorial suggestions for this are also welcome).

2 questions

1. i know it is illegal to sell items with copyrighted images, but what about using those items in trades? is that ok? i mean, you're not exchanging the item for money... (i'm talking about items where someone produces the image themself; not something they bought directly from the company and are reselling).

2. for the seamstresses in here -- about how much would you charge for a custom-made dress? (or for anyone that's bought a custom-made dress, how much did you pay?) specifically, something similar to this style. i'd just like some realistic estimates to put into a budget i'm working on, and i haven't been able to find too much info online.

thanks!

Has anyone ever seen those Vera Bradley knockoffs, or ones people make themselves? I was wondering where to get the fabric for such a thing so that it may coordinate. I tried Joann, but I couldn't really find anything (mostly because the manager that used to be at my store works there now?) Is there a specific section I should be looking in for something like this?

I've been doing some little 5x5" paintings for our kindergarten's craft stall which is to be held in October. Please view my Flickr photos if you'd like to see more. Thanks.

It seems like a really long time since I've posted anything, I've really gotten out of the habit. I've been trying to come up with other things to make based on the handmade notebook idea, and these planner diaries are the first ones that has actually made it past the planning stage

Heylow :)(sorry long time no post!) I've been extremely clucky as of late (read: really wanting a baby). My sister in law is having a little girl in like a week or two(We'll call her Emma... they're not exactly sure what they're going to call her but are leaning towards Emma) and one of my best buddies just had a little boy named Bryce. (Like Monday!)

Anyway, I've been really wanting a baby, and pretty much have been obsessing over baby stuff lately. So! I made some onesies for the new lil ones in my life. :)

Behind here! )
Hope you guys like. :) I get to give these out to the mommies tomorrow and I can't wait. :)
