So i tried on craftster, but no love is forthcoming- maybe someone on here can help!

I want to make a really simple crochet (in the round) blanket, starting with 6 sc into an adjustable ring, then working outwards doing 2 into 1 stich to expand it (like how you'd make an amiguri creature).

But i'm not sure how many stiches i need to add per round to keep it flat and blanket like...

any idea's?

(and yes I've googled too, but maybe I'm just being thick)

Last night I made this set, presumably for myself. These are the beads I've been hoarding. They're so... earthy... and unique... and I LOVE them. Love love love them.

Anyway... here is the set...

Some more pictures... and some other jewelry... )

I've absolutely love working with felt.

It's been my favorite medium lately.

On to the pics...

i'm going to be getting a shiny new white macbook in two weeks and i wanted to make a cover for it for inside my backpack.  i want to make the inside out of a black or white fleece for cushion, and the outside is to be made of felt.  thing is, i have no inspiriation.  i don't want danglies, feathers, or anything that can be pulled off or ruined by sliding college textbooks, and i want it to be able to stand up to a year overseas when i go for my masters.  i've checked the memories and haven't found quite what i was looking for.  something simple, elegant, but not plain.  i have skills with needlepoint, crochet, knit, working with felt, and i have access to a sewing machine, but i'd prefer the details to be handmade.

a google search seems to only bring up hugely excessive and wild cases, or else plain black ones.  maybe i'm searching wrong?

so, my long-winded point is that i'm asking you guys for ideas.  i'm not looking to copy someone else's idea, but i need something to go from.

thanks a ton in advance, and i'll be sure to get pictures up when i'm finished.

I've been feeling crafty... so I've been making scissor/rotary cutter/gadget charms! I've been trying to seel things online, but it's been slow.

do you think the price is right? ($5) We sell something very similar at the store i work at for $8 but I think that's a bit steep. What would you look for in trying to tell your stuff from other peoples?

(edited to add: I am not trying to sell them here. just getting a feel if people think they would sell.)

So I'm getting married.
At the reception there will be three little girls, ages 6 months, 8 months & 18 months.
I'm making little welcome/entertainment baskets for the kids.
I figured for the three little girls, I'd make some sort of stuffed animal as well as some finger puppets.
I think I can figure out the stuffed animal myself, but what about finger puppets. Has anyone seen any good patterns for finger puppets (crochet, knitting, sewing, whatever)?

Thanks! :)

But I'm far too poor to buy any more crafting stuff.

Here I used left-over paper, tiles and boxes on from other projects. I also changed the knobs on one of my dressers from knotty pine to brushed metal. That's one of the old knobs painted on the bottom box.

So my friend wants me to make her a shirt using a really bright neon pink acrylic. I tested it out on two other shirts first just to see how it works since it's a different brand than I usually buy. On the white shirt it was like my eyes are bleeding bright but on the black one is was gross and dark.
So my question is if I first do a few layers of white and let it dry, then apply the pink, will it end up brighter like it was on the white shirt?
And if not, any suggestions?
Thanks!

Joker

I work at a costume/formalwear store; most of the year we sell tuxedos, but we also supply the dance companies with their shoe/tights/leotard needs and around Halloween provide some less ‘cat ears in a bag’ type alternatives for adult party-goers.

I have a group that are going as Batman villains. This is just fine, as we have these costumes... or so I thought. It ends up that our Joker costume is missing the trousers; what I thought to be trousers hanging inside the jacket was actually just another jacket – we ordered two purple jackets and no pants!

Argh.

We have a TON of old black trousers from our formalwear business that I could use, but they’re, well, black. And not purple. I did see that on occasion Joker wears purple trousers with black pinstripes.

Can you think of any way to achieve this? Or, even black trousers with purple pinstripes/stripes in general? Anything? This group is supersweet and I don’t want to let them down.

It's made of felt. I've been making more lately, because so many people want one. Better photo here: [x]

Whee! So I made these for my son's best friend... her birthday was on Sunday. And instead of being boyish monsters (because she's a girly girl [and she's only 2]) I decided to make them girl monsters. And because it was a gift, I also made a little felt bag for her to keep them in. Several pics behind the cut to show off the cuteness! I hope you like them :D

It was a graveyard smash... )

More sets to come!!
