so, a little while ago, i had this idea to combine my recent jewelry-making obsession with some actual writing of mine, since i've always felt writing was underappreciated as a visual form of art, and tonight, i finally got around to putting them together.

see the little beauties! )

I'm a poor college student living in a boring white walled apartment which of course, we can't paint. I was going to go with Blik" wall decals, but I figure... there has to be a cheaper way! Short of taping paper to the wall, can you crafty girls think of a DIY way? It obviously doesn't have to be the same material, but just the same concept- shapes on the wall, but not permanent. Thanks <3.

this was one of my little brother's favorite t-shirts, but after a whole bunch of holes and an incident with some black paint, he couldn't wear it to school anymore. so he asked me to make a pillow out of it! and i did :D

This is for a swap I'm doing in another community. It's one of those decorate-it-yourself frames, not really anything special. I painted it with acrylics first, then drew on it in ballpoint pen. Enjoy.

Really enjoyed making these! I have a bunch more I'm getting ready for my next set which I'm -really- proud of.

I have so many beads I've stored from my trips to the Czech Republic, and so using them is such a joy!

Hi crafters! I want to make some fingerless gloves like these http://www.gaea-creations.com/fingerless.pdf for a swap. I am a beginning knitter, and I hope that some of you can help me figure out how long it might take, assuming I will be a little slow, but generally not mess up too much. Also, will I be completely sorry if I try to somehow fake my way out of having the double pointed needles? I just have some random ones from my grandmother, and no double points. I'd like to get started without a schlep to Michael's, but if it will a) be impossible, or b) add hours of misery to my life, then I'll bite the bullet and put on my shoes. Thanks for your help!

Are there any good free programs that I can use to design my own cross stitch patterns? I've had some projects in my mind for months, and I've finally figured out what and how I want to do it. I just need to make myself patterns now.
Any freeware suggestions?

My projects will be something in the line of what you find on subversive, but different sayings and designs. By this I mean simple text and pictures. I'm not looking to convert photos, just simple stuff.

I can't decide whether or not I should add a little banner underneath, saying 'happy birthday' or whatever, or to leave them blank. any ideas?

New painting, in the same style as the pine tree one I did a couple weeks ago.

*Edit 9/3, 5pm: I just realized how dark the image looks on my Windows machine at work (I use a Mac at home), so I've uploaded a lightened version. Hope this looks better.
