My son's favorite movie is My Neighbor Totoro. I looked everywhere I could think to find a decently priced stuffed Totoro to give him for his birthday but couldn't find anything. Inspired by something I found on ebay I came up with these. They are my first attempt at making anything of this sort so my machine embroidery is a bit crooked, but otherwise I'm very pleased with the outcome. He was too!

The bottoms are a bit puckery in the photos because they were pinned shut rather than sewn. Once I sewed the bottoms shut the edge smoothed out.

Hi guys..
I had a request to customise a tiny animal.
Erm.. can you tell what animal is the brown one?
wristlet tutorial?
Oct. 6th, 2006 03:33 pmMy daughter is going to homecoming this weekend, and doesn't have a purse to match her dress. I think I might like to make her a wristlet, but I've never made one before. I've done lots of square bottom bags, and zipper pockets and stuff, so I get the basics of how it works, but since the dance is tomorrow, I'd love to find a pattern/tutorial for a small wristlet (just big enough for a cell phone and some money really). It's easier than figuring it all out myself, ya know?
Any suggestions?

Oct. 6th, 2006 04:31 pmhello everyone! i can't remember the last time i posted in here, but i have a question about SEWING!
a friend of mine asked me to make her a bag, and she gave me specific measurements for the interior pockets for her cellphone/ipod/camera.
the only thing is, for example, the camera pocket measurements are:
9.2 cm tall
4.3 cm wide
2 cm deep
i don't know how to make the pocket 2 cm deep. i know i would have to use a gusset (? i'm not sure of the proper term, i'm just guessing here). but how would i go about attatching it to the lining?
( here's a drawing of what i'm talking about. )

Oct. 6th, 2006 09:28 pmmy friend has a new hoodie and i tried it on and the zipper broke as soon as i tried to zip it off. if the zipper had just come undone at the seams i could fix it myself, but the zipper pull thing completely snapped off, not just the tag, but the whole thing (do you know what i'm talking about? i'm not exactly sure what its called)
is there anyway to put another one on there? or will we just have to unpick the zipper and put a new one in?

Kooky Crochet
Oct. 6th, 2006 10:13 pmHello~ I hope this isn't considered a spam-y type post. I posted these amigurumi birds a while back, and many people asked about a pattern. I wanted to announce that the pattern did make it into the book I had mentioned in comments. Lark Books is publishing a book entitled, Kooky Crochet. I think the release date isn't until 2007 :( but hopefully it is early in the year. The book looks like it will be a fun addition to a collection of craft books. There are 30 patterns in it. And weeee, my amigurumi birds even made it onto the cover! Oh, the excitement.

Oct. 6th, 2006 11:47 pmHi all, I don't think I've ever posted here before, but I just made this for my friends birthday and I think it came out cute. I started out with some random fabric and some cardboard.
