hi. i'm new here (i've been lurking for a while and have been very impressed with what people post!; i wish i had a finished project to post, but i'm a student and only get to make things when i have time...which isn't too often!). i have kind of a mundane question to which i cannot seem to find the answer anywhere (neither in memories nor on google):

i am in the process of knitting a scarf as a gift for a guy, and i'm wondering what the standard length is for men's scarves? (he's approximatedly 5'8" if that helps any).

it sounds kind of stupid, i know, except that i'm a short girl and the only scarves i have are me-length...

thanks. :-)

Has anybody used this:

Electric Quilt Printables - Inkjet Cotton Satin Fabric Sheets ??

I think I'm planning on trying to print pictures of lotus flowers and then embroidering a bit around.

So how does it hold up with washing? Is it easy to sew through? Any information?

Thanks!

p.s. How does it compare with Iron on Transfers?

I took some quick photos today of the jewelry that I made for myself for my wedding. I’m really happy with it. :o) The photos aren’t that great. They don’t show off the jewelry nearly as well as I hoped but they do show it clearly anyway. The jewelry is much sparklier and amazing in person. :o) It’s all made with clear Swarovski crystals, natural pearls and sterling silver wire and sterling silver clasps and ear wires.

I have questions: I've been a crocheter for a while now (but only like simple basic stuff) and I want to learn to knit to make scarves for christmas (i knew how at one point...but then forgot). So first.
Do you get better results (ie more professional looking) when you knit or crochet?

What is the best kind of (relatively cheap) nice quality, soft yarn that i can use?? and where do you get it?

thanks in advance!

help?

My anatomy project requires me to build a 3d model of the integumentary system (skin), a major part for our grade involves creativity. Right now, I have no idea of what to do.. and I know that there are many many creative minds here that can probably help me come up with something.

here's a picture of a model in case someone needs it...

Can anybody recommend a good dremel tool for craft purposes? I will be wanting to put holes in a wide variety of objects, ranging from seashells to bones to (maybe) rocks, so I imagine I will need a variety of bit sizes. I don't want to buy "too much" tool, but I also don't want a piece of junk. What brands and models have worked for other craftgrrls?

I don't know if this has ever been brought up in here before.... but I love Not Martha.org!!!

I just spent an hour looking at her crafts and getting great ideas for Xmas and beyond!

*swoons*

I also have a question.... do you know where I can get the snaps she is tlks about in her "How to make Party Crackers" section? I think my kids would have a blast with these. Plus, it's a new and fun way to put a twist on boring old gift certificates! haha
