good craft fairs/shops in NYC?
Oct. 13th, 2006 02:00 amhi folks, don't know if this is appropriate (if not feel free to delete), but I'm going to be in NYC next week, and wanted to check out some craft shops/fairs. Do any of you sell at any? or could just recommend good ones to go to? thanks!

Monster Wreaths, Robot's and octopodes!
Oct. 13th, 2006 12:02 pmI've been able to craft a lot more lately, so under the cut is a monster wreath, a robot stuffy and a crochet octopus!

Oct. 13th, 2006 01:34 pmI've been busy over the last couple of days making a few things. Now that they're done I feel like showing off a little. The first thing is just a simple tote bag, nothing complex. It's a birthday gift for a friend of mine (a week late, no less). The other things under the cut are a cuple of hats that lately I've become obsessed with making.

I'm really wanting to try my hand at making paper. I've looked online for various "recipies" on how to do so. I've found a lot, though some say to add starch, some leave it out. I guess I'm asking a few different questions:
1) Starch or no starch? If starch which kind do I use and how much. None of the recipies that called for starch said what kind or what it does.
2)How do you make paper?
Thanks so much in advance.

I whipped these babies up within a few minutes.
It's much easier to use super glue.
I just played around with it for awhile until I found what I liked.
The covers are very easy to take off and put on a new tissue box.
My boyfriend has me on a Star Wars kick and I couldn't resist.
I love wookies!
Just one piece of advice, if you buy the brown fuzzy fabric, be prepared to clean up a mess.
The lady at the store told me to toss it in the dryer for a few minutes but I don't think that'll make much of a difference.
It's still going to fray when you cut it.

Oct. 13th, 2006 11:36 pmI'm going to be attaching some vintage sheet music to my bulletin board as the background but my question is how should I go about doing that. I was thinking of rubber cement as a possibility but I'm not sure it would work. Any ideas? I want something more permenant that tacks. Thanks!
