Alright... so, this is strange, but for the time being. Everyone can check out the digital version of Craft: transforming traditional crafts Vol.1 for the time being.
So umm... YEA. Go nuts.

In the future you're going to have to pay like me to get an account and see it. ^_^

I've been a part of this community for a little while and haven't really posted at all so I thought I'd share some things. Also, this is my first time using a cut, so if it doesn't work please let me know. I think I did it right.

Jewelry, tiny owls, and a camera cozy! )

I haven't really been crafting too much lately, but looking at these pics again reminds me to be inspired. :)

Hi everyone... I've been reading the community for a while ogling your gorgeous crafts and thought I'd show off some of the stuff I've been making lately. At the moment I'm obsessed with making cushion covers from new and vintage fabrics with felt appliques based on whatever catches my fancy - mostly geeky things (godzilla, pacman, etc) and images inspired by vintage fabrics (particularly from the 60s and 70s - I'm obsessed with stuff of that era). I'm also developing an obsession with making aprons, of which I have four (!) on the go. I'm going to visit my best friend for a week because she's having her first baby and am taking a suitacase of crafty stuff with me to work on, teehee.

Pictures below the cut - they're quite big.

Squish. )

I probably should of put more wire in it to support it better but this was just trial and error, but it's a ferret tunnel!

Mine is the bigger kind of frumpy looking one next to a much smaller one from SuperPet.

Toad doesn't seem to mind that it's kind of frumpy!

I'm going to try another one maybe with more wire support. Just wanted to share.

So..since I promised an update, it won me $50.00 bucks for most original design. :D The downside, walking around work all day flashing people my innards became something akin to Mardi Gras beads. *flash* "Vote for me!"

How much different would a knitting pattern need to be from the one that inspired it to be considered something new? It's a different length, uses different stitches for about 80% of it and a different bind off... not to mention a completely different brand, type and size of yarn. I am extremely pleased with the latest thing I adapted from another pattern and just wondering what the "rules" are on  how different my finished project needs to be from the pattern I began with. Anyone know?

I used to be very crafty but then I became obsessed with photography. Now I am getting back into being crafty.

I wish to use prints of my photographs in my crafts and am trying to come up with some ideas. I would like to use my photographs in my doll making, pocket shrine making, and jewelry making but while I have vague ideas I have nothing concrete.

I really want to use the photographs I have taken of geisha and tayu. I think using them as charms (on clay or between slides) will be nice, but it may also be predictable. Any other ideas?

For an idea of my photographs, you can see some of photographic work at:

And yes, this is not a text only post. :)

Below the cut are photographs of some small books I created (I purchased the blank books and glued my photographs into them). Each book is about three inches by three inches and uses photographs I have taken in Japan. I give them as gifts. :)

How can I cut through circuit boards (computer bits) without destroying it too horribly?

I've sewn on a sewing machine many times before, but this skirt was pretty in depth for me.
I followed a pattern for the first time, and I thought that "bunching" was a little difficult to sew.
So, this is the finished project from my sewing class the past three Friday's:
