(I am happy to have married into such a kooky family...)

My husband's uncle is turning 60, swears he doesn't want a party, and is going to be on a month-long trip during his birthday. So his family decided to throw him a non-party. What is a non-party you ask?

They are going to sneak into his house and make it look like they had a party there... party hats, streamers, cake crumbs, confetti... Then, they are going to leave photos "from the party" laying around the house.

They made a life-size cardboard cut-out of him (which they played limbo with), as well as some masks, and took posed party pictures with him. They also sent some high-resolution pictures to the non-local family and friends so they could print or photoshop the pictures and show up at the party themselves!

I thought this was such a funny idea, and would be great for anyone out of town on their birthday. I was also impressed how it lets family and friends from all over participate in a way we would not normally be able to.

I want to make a skirt like this. I've heard that you can buy pre-pleated fabric but I've never actually seen it anywhere. Does anyone know where I might find it? Thanks!

I dont know if this is allowed but Im having a major panic here!! I'm a journalism student and a happy crafter, so I decided to write an article on craft for our current project. Problem is out of all the people I've emailed only one person has replied. So I need some quotes for my article from you wonderful people!! So if anyone and everyone could answer one or more of the following questions then I would be forever indebted!!

Why do you think craft declined after the seventies?
Why do you think crafting and customising is becoming so popular again?
How do you feel about famous people such as Kate Moss getting into knitting?
What is drawing young people to it?
What do you personally like about crafting and what do you usually work with?

And include your name and town where you live. Thank you so much to anyone who does this for me, Ill post a copy of the article up when it's done if anyone is interested. Also I would love it if a moderator could reply as well.

I can delete if people have a problem with this.

Cross posted all over the shop.

I am going to buy some thread or elastic for some lightweight trinkets I am making - basic beads - nothing too heavy.

I am looking through the list of products and I have googled for more info - but I know its better to find out from people who actually use the stuff and have had experience with it...

The items I am looking at are

~*~ Stretch Magic
~*~ Nymo
~*~ Superlon thread

If any of you can give me suggestions as to what you thought of any or all of the products I would be eternally grateful.

As these are for fundraising - I dont want to waste money and I dont want people to buy things and have them fall to bits in a week - I want everyone to be happy...

Thankyou again for reading this, and have a great day :)

This is one of the things I have been working on lately. They are handmade paper ornaments with seeds imbedded in them. I painted them on both sides with food coloring so that they are very biodegrabible.

title or description

This ornament is made of handmade paper
decorated with food coloring. Inside of the
ornament are wild flower seeds. When the
holidays are over and spring has sprung
remove the string and tag, plant the ornament
outside, water regularly and before you know
it you will have a beautiful wild flower garden.
