I have a new obsession. Collecting pretty pillowcases from thrift stores. I keep finding the most beautiful patterns, but I've had no idea what to do with them.

Until now! )

I just found the totally cool holiday cards my hubby's work is sending out this year. He works for a video game company and the cards have characters on the front being all cute and Christmassy. Each one is about two inches tall and an inch wide, and there're four of them printed on regular card stock.
Now the question - I'd love to make them into ornaments or something (despite the fact we have no tree this year 'cause our apartment is wee) but just cutting them out and sticking them on cardboard with glitter is too simple for me....
Does anyone have any rad ideas for a cool craft that would make these bad boys standouts on next year's tree (which will hopefully be in a house we own... *dreaming*)
Anyway, so this isn't all text and no fun, here's a cutie cherry print fleece scarf I made recently. I adore the fringe, unfortunately so do my cats... And somehow the scarf makes me wanna wear my chenille knit Santa hat.
Enjoy, and thanks for any ideas y'all have!
Warm and fuzzy goodness ahead )

New wallets I've been working on. I'm trying new simple illustrations I've made and seeing how they convert into diecuts.

More images this way... incase you didn't get enough of the killer kitties! )

I'm in the process of making a Christmas gift for a few friends. I am typing up 365 quotes and putting them in a glass vase/bottle. Anyone have any ideas on how to decorate the vase? I had a friend once make me a vase that looked like paint had been dripped or glazed from the inside. I wish I had it here to take a picture of. It's hard for me to explain. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Thanks!

my new Scream pendant which I think turned out really cool (even if it is creepy).

I made this face out of clay and then handpainted it in acrylics and metalic paints that make it sparkle in the light and come alive and finally sealed it in several coats of varnish to protect it.

Face size is approximately 1.75 long by 1 3/8 inches across, with bail pendant measures 2 3/8 inches tall.

I'm going to go out on a limb here & ask for some help. I'm looking for a website that carries Japanese canvas print fabric. It's the kind with the repeating patterns of birds, owls, animals, trees, etc, usually with a solid color background (like teal, grass green, etc) and the patterns in white or beige. The fabric I'm looking for is more kawaii than oriental. I've seen some with little cartoon sheep, owls, trees, birds, etc. I am really really in love with this type of fabric and want some to make some throw pillows and other matching accessories for my room.

I've Googled extensively and cannot for the life of me find it. If someone could steer me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. A website, the name or the company that makes the fabric, if it even is Japanese, ANY information would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

EDIT : Here's a photo of the fabric I'm looking for, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] sticky_glue.

I want this fabric!

Once again, any help would be appreciated.

Almost all my friends smoke, so I thought it would make a cute gift to craft each one an ashtray. I saw a couple days ago someone mention making ashtrays out of old vinyls. Anyone have any other ideas for materials I could use to make ashtrays, and ways that I could personalize them?
This would be a huuuge help to me, so thanks in advance =]

Its for my friend for xmas. She loves Stitch. I sewed each of them by hand out of felt then made the pillow cover (I used one of those premade pillows to stuff it) and attached them to it.

I haven't had a chance yet to try most of the wonderful suggestions so many of you sent to me, but they are in the queue. Thank all of you so much for your help; it really makes it seem more like a fun endeavor rather than something I have to do because of the lack of funds. :)

This is the Nightmare before xmas box that I painted for my significant other for xmas. The first picture is the top of the box and the second pic is of angry Jack that I painted on the inside. He is a big NBC fan and I am hoping that he will like it! :)

I love love love dangly earrings. Could this be because I don't have pierced ears myself? Perhaps. Long story short - I actually did get them pierced at 14 (take that, parents who said I had to be 15!), but the new holes were too much to take care of and you couldn't see any earrings I was wearing under my long hair anyway, so I let them close up.

Anyway, here are some I made for the be-punctured members of my family.

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pull rank on you. I didn't want to have to do this. I'm with the Mattress Police. There are no tags on these mattresses. )

oh she is so so mine.

this little doll was made mostly as an experiment to see if a properly-poofed-out-dress was even possible. with several hours of wire twisting and generally cursing the very idea of a hoop skirt i can now say that yes, yes it is. i confess that i am also utterly insanely proud that she stands. granted it's by sheer merit of her undergarments. otherwise she is the same as any of the other dolls i've made - though she probably involved enough hot glue to rebuild the titanic. of course she isn't really remotely historically accurate, though i do harbour daydreams of recreating more accurate girls based on various 18th century fashion plates.

He assured me he had a tree. I told him I hadn't seen it in the year and a half I've lived here and he re-assured me. I was reassured. I rested easy, making all the hideous ornaments I've so proudly posted and plans for this pre-lit tree he claimed to have. Today I searched for it.
 In the garage, nothing...
In the closet beneath the stairs a few Christmas-y things, but no tree, just a garland and some plastic snow-folk...
I even opened the attic door, whereupon a dead bird fell on the floor. Needless to say, I did not enter the attic. He says there is no way it is there.
I asked him about it when he got home and he said that he didn't own a garland, that it must be the tree. I hadn't looked too closely at the box, but figured he knew what he was talking about.
I told the 5 and 8 year old boys that we'd be making ornaments tomorrow and when they asked where we would put the ornaments, I told them that we would be putting them on the tree that their daddy has.
Can you guess what happened when I checked the garland box? It's a small box and contains, as stated on the box, a pre-lit garland.

I've been trying so hard to be all upbeat and everything about having no money this Christmas, trying to make the best of an uncomfortable situation, putting everything I had into those crappy paper ornaments so his children, who don't even particularly like me, would have a good holiday. Somehow, having no tree and being unlikely to get one has broken me. There are free ones on craigslist, but he was completely disinterested when I mentioned them. I may try to be more persuasive tomorrow, but, as I sit here in tears all I want to do right now is burn those stupid, ugly folded pieces of paper and sparkly bits. Is that bitterness and cynicism I feel creeping back into me? And just in time for the holidays, too. Welcome, old friends, welcome.

Update:
You guys are all so sweet and kind and understanding that it's hard for me to get too cynical. Maybe, subconsciously, that's why I posted this. Thank you all so very much. I wasn't fishing for compliments on the decorations, I just overreact to situations like this. But all your kind words are like a soothing salve to my wounds.
In the boyfriend's defense, he is under an insane amount of stress right now, what with being on trial (it's a long story, but it was nothing violent, he is innocent of the charges, and it was all years ago, so you don't need to worry about me in that sense.), so if he isn't as understanding as I'd like I have to cut him a little slack right now. The trial should be over by the end of next week, so if he doesn't improve fairly soon after that, I will not have any more excuses for him. He feels bad about money being so tight, but hasn't wanted to seek better employment (he's a database admin, IT guy, programmer type, so the income potential is there) with the trial hanging over our heads. And I don't have a valid license or insurance, so I can't just go out and get a job (or a tree). I hope that helps explain why I'm willing to be a little more patient with him than I would normally be.
